Packed to the Rafters star Erik Thomson's new love revealed following his shock split from wife Caitlin McDougall
Erik Thomson has reportedly moved on following his split from his wife Caitlin McDougall. The Packed to the Rafters star, 58, is believed to now be dating Courtney Simpson, a single mother from Tasmania, according to New Idea. The couple are yet to publicly address their relationship but have been sharing loved-up photos together on social media. In February, Courtney shared a sweet photo of the pair and wrote: 'Happy Valentine's Day my [love].' She also shared a sweet tribute to Erik on his 58th birthday last month. 'There is a version of him the world knows, and a version I get to keep – the one made of tenderness, complexity, and quiet strength,' she wrote on Instagram. 'He feels everything deeply, carries more than he ever lets on, and gives more than he ever asks for. Loving him is easy and fierce and real. I'm grateful for him, for all of it, every day.' It was first reported that Erik and his wife Caitlin had split after almost 25 years of marriage back in March. The couple, who first met in a pub in 1997, no longer follow each other on Instagram and hadn't posted photos of each other for more than two years. Neither have made an official statement on their separation. According to the Herald Sun, Thomson is believed to have moved to Tasmania last year after previously living with McDougall in Port Willunga, 40 kilometres south of Adelaide. McDougall is understood to have stayed in Port Willunga where she works as an artist out of her own coastal studio. The pair met in a pub while watching Adelaide's AFL Grand Final win in 1997 and married two years later in the wine district of McLaren Vale. They tied the knot at Penny's Hill - a winery founded by McDougall's stepfather Tony Parkinson - and have two children: daughter Eilish, 15, and son Magnus, 12. In 2005 and 2006, the couple co-starred on The Alice, a Nine miniseries set in Alice Springs. Thomson and McDougall later based themselves in Sydney while Thomson worked as Dave Rafter on popular Seven series Packed to the Rafters from 2008 to 2013. Thomson frequently spent time with McDougall's family between acting gigs before moving there permanently in 2013. 'We have family here, it's beautiful, it's affordable, it's a really good base,' Thomson told The Advertiser in 2016. The Scotland-born actor is best known for his role on Packed to the Rafters, but also starred in popular shows like 800 Words and Aftertaste. He also featured in the medical drama All Saints which ran for an impressive 12 years before its final episode aired on October 27, 2009. Thomson played medical registrar Mitch Stevens on the series alongside Georgie Parker, who portrayed his on-screen love interest nurse Terri Sullivan.
