Lyon predicted XI v Angers: Alexandre Lacazette to start in final game for the club
As has already been confirmed, Alexandre Lacazette will leave Olympique Lyonnais this summer, upon the expiry of his contract with the club. Against SCO Angers, Lyon's captain is expected to lead the line. There is still an outside chance of OL earning UEFA Champions League football, although that chance is highly remote. Currently seventh, they will have to rely on results elsewhere going their way if they are to move any higher. Advertisement For Les Gones' finale against Angers, Paulo Fonseca has a large squad to pick from. Ernest Nuamah suffered a major injury last month and will be absent for much of 2025, whilst Clinton Mata came off during last weekend's match against AS Monaco. He has not recovered and will miss out for OL. Lyon likely line-up v Angers Lucas Perri; Nicolás Tagliafico, Moussa Niakhaté, Duje Caleta-Car, Ainsley Maitland-Niles; Tanner Tessmann, Jordan Veretout; Malick Fofana, Thiago Almada, Rayan Cherki; Alexandre Lacazette. Lyon winger Ernest Nuamah suffers ACL injury
Lyon winger Ernest Nuamah is set for an extended period on the sidelines after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). Lyon confirmed on Monday that Nuamah suffered the injury to his left knee during Saturday's Ligue 1 victory over Lille. The 21-year-old was forced off after seven minutes and his club said it will do 'everything in its power' to help him make a full recovery. Advertisement The confirmation of Nuamah's injury comes three days before Lyon face Manchester United in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final at the Groupama Stadium. The Ghana international has provided six goals and two assists in 33 appearances in all competitions for Lyon this season, scoring twice in their Europa League last-16 victory over FCSB. Nuamah moved to Lyon permanently in the summer, having spent last season on loan there from fellow Eagle Football Holdings club RWB Molenbeek in Belgium. He has been the subject of Premier League interest in recent transfer windows, with Fulham and Everton both targeting the winger in the summer of 2024, and Everton reigniting their interest in January. Nuamah was replaced by Rayan Cherki — who also attracted interest from Fulham in the summer — against Lille, with the Frenchman scoring the game-winning goal. Lyon's victory saw them leapfrog Lille and move up to fifth in Ligue 1. They play United on Thursday before the second leg at Old Trafford on April 17. ()

Lyon winger Ernest Nuamah suffers ACL rupture
Lyon winger Ernest Nuamah suffers ACL rupture Lyon winger Ernest Nuamah (21) is set for an extended spell on the sidelines after sustaining an ACL rupture in his left knee, the Ligue 1 club has confirmed. The Ghana international had to pull out of Saturday's Ligue 1 clash between Lille and Lyon only five minutes in after he and Gabriel Gudmundsson vied for the ball. Les Gones eventually defeated Les Dogues 2-1 but Lyon's medical staff feared Nuamah's injury would be serious. Unfortunately, it proved to be true. 'OL gives its full support to Ernest and will do everything possible to enable him to return in the best possible conditions', the statement reads. Given the seriousness of Nuamah's injury, the 21-year-old is expected to miss the first months of the 2025-2026 season. Lyon host Manchester United this Thursday in the Europa League quarter-finals. Lyon winger Malick Fofana is also set to miss the first leg. GFFN | Bastien Cheval
