This California university ranked as the one of the most dangerous in the country
A study from Davidoff Law Personal Injury Lawyers recently showed which universities in the country rank as the most dangerous. The study sourced information sourced from the The Forbes list for top colleges and National Center for Educational Statistics to find out which colleges had the most reported crimes per student population. The study included break downs in crime data like robberies, dating violence and robberies amongst other crimes. California Institute of Technology in Pasadena ranked seventh out of the 10 most dangerous universities in the country and the only one in the one in the state. The school had only 90 reported crimes, the least out of the top 10, but the ratio to its population 2,463 landed it in one of the top spots. The most dangerous universities in the country are: No. 1: Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine No. 2: Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire No. 3: Swarthmore College in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania No. 4: Amherst College in Amherst, Massachusetts No. 5: Cornell University in Ithaca, New York No. 6: Duke University in Durham, North Carolina No. 7: California Institute of Technology, California No. 8: Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee No. 9: Washington State University in Pullman, Washington No. 10: The University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Four California universities made the list of the 10 safest campuses in the U.S.: the University of Southern California, Stanford University, the University of California, Berkeley and the University of California, Los Angeles. California cities some of the least affordable, according to recent data
RealtyHop, a New York-based realty company, recently released its housing affordability index, ranking the 100 biggest cities in the U.S. by affordability for the month of January. California outnumbered the other 49 states, having 6-out-of-10 of the least affordable cities on the list. The realty company used data like projected median household income, median for-sale home listing prices from the company, and local property taxes from census data to categorize the cities. Los Angeles remains the least affordable city in the county. Households with a median income pay approximately 98.36% of their income on mortgage payments and property taxes, according to the company's data. Irvine followed in second, with households on a median income likely paying just under $10,000 in monthly homeownership costs. Other California cities in the top 10: No. 6: Anaheim No. 7: Long Beach No. 9: San Jose No. 10: San Diego According to the index, Miami, New York City, Newark, and Boston were the other cities classified as the least affordable large cities. No large city in California made the list of the most affordable cities, which was comprised of mostly midwestern cities. Coca-Cola amongst the companies targeted in new round of boycotts
Not dissimilar to the Boycott, Divest, and Sanction, or BDS, movement aimed at targeting businesses with perceived ties to Israel, a new grassroots movement has taken root on social media. While there have been calls to boycott businesses and their CEOs with ties to President Trump and his campaign in the past, the Latino Freeze Movement has renewed those calls. The president's statements on immigration and his rollback of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion policies have sparked new protests. The movement takes the boycotts a step further by encouraging the use of Latin-American-based products instead of U.S. products to oppose the president's proposed tariffs on Mexico and Canada. California's fast food staple, In-n-Out, has been targeted again by boycotts due to the former CEO's past donations to the president's and other Republican candidate campaigns. The company has about 280 locations in California alone. Other California companies that have been named in the boycotts are: Tesla Google Meta Coca-Cola is another big company that has faced social media backlash after a rumor spread that it was assisting Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. However, no such evidence has been verified, and as of 4 p.m. Friday, the company has yet to release a statement. Google Trends showed the search term "why are people boycotting Coca-Cola" was a rising search term in California. Although the company is not based in the Golden State, it has dozens of plants and a large Latin-American consumer base inside and outside the country. According to its website, it serves approximately 530 million consumers in Latin America.
