UOS celebrates graduation of 4th Cohort of Emirati Future Leaders
During the ceremony, His Excellency Prof. Esameldin Agamy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, highlighted how the Emirati Future Leadership initiative embodies the University's vision of empowering Emirati youth to become dynamic leaders who can shape the nation's future. He emphasized that through such pioneering programs, the University fosters a stimulating educational environment that nurtures social responsibility, creativity, and excellence, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared to play an active role in the UAE's ongoing journey of progress and Emiratization. In his address to the graduates, Prof. Yousef Haik, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, underscored that supporting Emiratization remains a central pillar of the University's mission. He noted that the University continually develops curricula and launches training initiatives in collaboration with international partners to ensure the UAE labor market is supplied with highly qualified national talent. This year's cohort participated in an exceptional international training camp in Barcelona, Spain, organized in partnership with the Institute of American Universities in Spain. Looking ahead, further collaborations are planned with educational institutions in Hong Kong. Prof. Maher Omar, Director of the Institute of Leadership in Higher Education, provided an overview of the initiative, reaffirming the institute's commitment to advancing national talent and preparing future leaders. He described the program as a unique and enriching experience, where participants gained a wide range of future-oriented leadership skills, including environmental awareness, sustainability, mentorship, community service, and the values of diversity and inclusion. Students shared their experiences from the Barcelona training camp, which featured interactive sessions led by international experts, hands-on activities, and field visits to the city's cultural and historical landmarks. These experiences broadened their academic and personal horizons, offering valuable insights into new cultures. The graduating students also presented their capstone projects, which reflected the diverse skills acquired throughout the program. These included six innovative projects addressing pressing societal challenges, such as promoting mental health awareness in educational institutions, developing action plans to reduce reliance on expatriate labor, exploring aquatic gardens to combat pollution and improve air quality, and designing a cost-effective tracking device to enhance child safety. The ceremony concluded with Prof. Agamy honoring the 31 graduates, celebrating their achievements, and reaffirming the University of Sharjah's ongoing dedication to nurturing the next generation of Emirati leaders.

University of Sharjah's dental forum attracts global experts
The University of Sharjah's College of Dental Medicine has launched its highly anticipated third International Dental Forum, drawing distinguished speakers from six countries namely, Canada, Britain, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, and Oman, under the general theme 'Innovation in Dentistry: Transforming Lives.' The event, held under the patronage of Esameldin Agamy, Chancellor of the University, features a robust programme that includes a graduate research exhibition supported by the International Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (IADR). This year's forum delves into a wide array of clinical dentistry topics, ranging from oral surgery and digital dentistry to prosthodontics, endodontics, pediatric dentistry, and professional ethics. A particular highlight is the exploration of current trends and future frontiers in artificial intelligence applications within dental practice, underscoring the field's rapid evolution. In his opening remarks, Prof. Qutayba Hamid, Vice Chancellor for Medical and Health Sciences Colleges and Dean of the College of Medicine, discussed the forum's role as a dynamic platform for interaction and collaboration among students, faculty, and alumni. He extended heartfelt gratitude to His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, as well as to Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, President of the University, for their steadfast support of the University's medical and health sciences complex. Hamid also praised the faculty's dedication and outlined the college's strategic vision for vertical expansion through the introduction of master's and doctoral programmes that keep pace with global advances in dental science, technology, and artificial intelligence. He also emphasised the University's commitment to graduating highly qualified dentists with a strong foundation in impactful scientific research that benefits society at large. Dr Amina Al Marzouqi, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the urgency of pursuing and encouraging innovation in an era of rapid change. 'We are living in a time where innovation is reshaping the future of healthcare, and dentistry is no exception,' she remarked. Al Marzouqi reaffirmed the University of Sharjah's unwavering commitment to this vision, noting that the institution's strategic plan aims to position it as a center of excellence in education, research, and community service. She explained that the University's mission extends beyond the classroom, striving to make a tangible impact on society by fostering innovation, encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration, and empowering the next generation of healthcare professionals. According to Al Marzouqi, this conference embodies that mission, serving as a stage where ideas are transformed into action, research meets practice, and local challenges are addressed with global insight. Prof Sawsan Al Kawas, Acting Dean of the College of Dental Medicine, emphasised the growing significance of this scientific gathering, which has evolved over the past two years from a local event into a global platform attracting leading minds from the region and beyond. She noted that this year's conference brings together a select group of pioneers to share their vision for redefining dentistry and exploring how technology is revolutionising oral healthcare. Professor Al Kawas stressed the importance of lifelong learning for dentists and specialists to keep pace with the latest developments in the field. Professor Ahmed Jumla, Chair of the Organising Committee, highlighted the college's ongoing efforts to enhance its academic and professional standing by hosting such a high-caliber scientific event. He explained that the conference's theme reflects the rapidly changing landscape of dental care and the shared responsibility to shape the future of dental healthcare. The forum offers participants the chance to engage with cutting-edge research and hear from some of the most prominent voices in dentistry. It also provides postgraduate students with the opportunity to participate in a scientific competition, supported by the IADR, further enriching the event's academic rigor. UOS's Fine Arts and Design celebrates 'Exit Show XX' exhibition
The exhibition was inaugurated by Prof. Esameldin Agamy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, who expressed his delight at the caliber of work on display. 'Exit Show XX is a vivid reflection of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University, to graduate generations of creative minds ready to meet the demands of the job market and contribute to the cultural and artistic renaissance of the nation,' Prof. Agamy remarked. He underscored the University's commitment to delivering world-class education in the arts and design, keeping pace with global developments and trends. The Chancellor further noted that the level of creativity and professionalism evident in this year's projects instills confidence in the graduates' ability to compete both locally and internationally and to bolster the UAE's expanding creative economy. Dean of the College, Prof. Nadia Alhassani, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the remarkable evolution in the quality of student projects year after year. 'What distinguishes this cohort is not only its size but also the diversity and contemporary relevance of its projects,' she observed. 'We see a clear emphasis on sustainability, digital technologies, and creative solutions to societal challenges. The achievements of our students are a powerful affirmation that investment in art and design education yields tangible benefits for both society and the creative economy.' The annual exhibition stands as the culmination of students' academic journeys, presenting the fruits of years of study and the creative skills honed throughout their university experience. It provides a vital platform for graduates to showcase their work to the public, industry professionals, and potential employers, opening doors to new opportunities in the creative sector. This year's show features seven projects from the Department of Fine Arts, 14 from Fashion and Textile Design, 54 from Interior Design, and 34 from Visual Communication, making it the largest graduating class in the college's history. Visitors to the exhibition are treated to a rich array of artistic and design works, from striking sculptures and innovative fashion collections to interior design projects tailored to community needs and imaginative solutions in visual communication, typography, and animation. All projects were rigorously assessed by a panel of 42 external judges, including academics and industry professionals from both public and private sectors, as well as leading consultancy firms.
