Faraday Future unveils FX Super One MPV to rival Escalade

Story Highlights Faraday Future unveils FX Super One MPV to compete with luxury SUVs. FX Super One features unique LED display and advanced technology features. Faraday secures $105 million in financing for FX Super One launch. Faraday Future Intelligent Electric Inc. unveiled its FX Super One MPV Thursday in Los Angeles, saying the first in its new line of affordable mass-market electric vehicles under the FX brand will compete with luxury SUVs such as Cadillac's Escalade. The Gardena, California-based company (Nasdaq: FFAI) said it now has more than 10,000 'binding deposits' for the vehicle, even though the company hasn't released a price tag for it nor said when it will go on sale. Explore All Events Faraday said the FX Super One MPV will have some unique features when it eventually hits the road, including its FF Super EAI F.A.C.E. (Front AI Communication Ecosystem), which is an external super LED display on the front fascia that will replace a vehicle's typical grill. With multiple changing front-screen images, the technology brings 'each vehicle a unique expression — 'a thousand faces for a thousand cars,'' Faraday said. Other features touted by Faraday include floating rear zero-gravity seats; all-wheel drive; a longer wheelbase than the Escalade; a high-strength steel structure; a refrigerator; enhanced range on the highway using AI hybrid extended range technology (coming soon); a Dolby Atmos audio system; LiDAR, millimeter-wave radar, ultrasonic radar and HD camera sensors; and several seating configurations, including four-seat, six-seat and seven-seat choices. The company will build the FX Super One at its factory in Hanford, California, located in the San Joaquin Valley region of the greater Central Valley. The unveiling comes after Faraday said earlier this week it secured about $105 million in new cash financing, including $82 million of new financing commitments, to support the launch of the FX Super One model. The company also intends to use the funds to accelerate development and distribution efforts for its FF and FX brands and AI-related technologies. Cadillac Won't Like the 2025 Lincoln Navigator's Perfect Position Seats

Comfort is a must in a luxury SUV It's probably a rare occurrence when a customer buys a vehicle for its seats, but the comfort of the front seats can make you or break you. When it comes to the full-size luxury SUV war, it has long been a two-horse race in America: Cadillac's swanky and stylish Escalade versus Lincoln's innovative and feature-rich Navigator. These two posh behemoths have traded punches for the better part of three decades, and they're not letting up anytime soon. The Escalade sells in bigger numbers than the Navigator, but Lincoln has a secret weapon in its corner: its much-lauded Perfect Position Seats. More than just a clever name, these highly customizable, supremely comfortable front thrones may be the Navigator's strongest weapon yet—and Cadillac definitely won't like it. The art and science behind Perfect Position Seats 2025 Lincoln Navigator L Black Label — Source: Lincoln Perfect Position Seats weren't just designed—they were engineered with surgical precision. They were first introduced in the now extinct Lincoln Continental luxury sedan in 2016 and then in the Navigator. Since then, the seats have been refined and upgraded, with the 2025 version being the most advanced yet. Developed in collaboration with orthopedic experts and guided by biometric research, these seats are built to combat driver fatigue, improve posture, and elevate long-distance comfort beyond even the expectations of luxury vehicles. 2025 Lincoln Navigator L Black Label — Source: Lincoln Perfect Position seats provide a mindblowing 30-way power adjustability on the Black Label trim (24-way on Reserve models), including industry-first independently adjustable thigh bolsters, shoulder support, and lumbar zones. The thigh bolsters alone are worth the price of admission because they can be adjusted individually up or down, forward or back. If you like your left leg higher than your right, done. More extended support on your right thigh? No problem. These adjustments can be fine-tuned via Lincoln's SYNC 4 infotainment system or directly through the seat-mounted controls. The seats also feature active motion massage, heating, ventilation, and memory settings, making them arguably the most advanced seats in any SUV on the market. What sets the Perfect Position Seats apart from the rest of the pack is ergonomic customizability that goes far beyond even 18-way adjustable seats found in luxury automobiles and SUVs. The 2025 Cadillac Escalade doesn't exactly disappoint in the seat department, providing 12-way or 16-way power adjustments, heated seats, 4-way power lumbar support, and, in higher trims, features like ventilation and massage functions. However, Cadillac's system lags behind in terms of functionality and refinement. Don't get us wrong, they're very good seats, but they lack the microadjustability of the Navigator's Perfect Position Seats. The Escalade's front seats lack the multi-contour design and individualized adjustability that make Lincoln's system so unique. For long road trips or for buyers who spend a lot of time on their daily commute, the Navigator's Perfect Position seats are several notches above the rest. No one will balk about the Escalade's plush seats, but the level of support and customization the Navigator's seats provide is the right kind of overkill. They can't be matched by Cadillac or anyone else, for that matter. 2025 Cadillac Escalade — Source: Cadillac Some customers will gravitate toward the Escalade on street style points, and that beautiful and industry-leading 55-inch curved OLED display (the Navigator's still a sizeable 48 inches). Others may find Lincoln's focus on stratospheric levels of physical comfort provides a stronger draw for customers in their late 40s to early 50s, the highest percentage of those buying full-sized luxury three-row SUVs. Perfect Position Seats are no gimmick 2025 Lincoln Navigator Black Label — Source: Lincoln How comfortable can these things be? Are they just some visual differentiator that provides a unique look? Is their marketed functionality just some gimmick? According to multiple third-party reviews and customer testimonials, Lincoln's Perfect Position Seats consistently outperform expectations. The folks at J.D. Power reviewed the Navigator and said the Perfect Position Seats were 'exceptionally comfortable'. We've sat in them for long drives when the current Navigator debuted, and we can attest that they are impressively comfortable and supportive. 2025 Lincoln Navigator Black Label — Source: Lincoln It's vital on long drives to have comfort AND support, so they can't just be plush seats. They need to properly disperse pressure. The Perfect Position seats do that very well, but they also provide individual micro-adustability that conforms to virtually any driver's physique. On top of that, the optional massage function is also more than just a mechanical back rub. The system's active motion features subtly shifting support points in the seat during driving to reduce pressure points and improve circulation. Occupants can choose five modes: Circular, Relax, Recovery, Rolling, and Pulse. Users can also select from three intensity levels —Low, Medium, and High — for each massage type. The seats can even employ specific targeted areas and vary the pressure. Rather than putting you to sleep, these massaging seats keep you alert and reduce fatigue. It contributes to driver wellness and, quite possibly, safety. Final thoughts As it stands, Lincoln can't beat Cadillac in every aspect of the full-sized luxury SUV game. The Escalade has the flash, the power, and the sales dominance to remain the full-size luxury SUV of choice in America, at least for now. But the 2025 Lincoln Navigator can claim the crown of redefining comfort. With its unmatched Perfect Position Seats, the Navigator offers a tangible advantage by providing truly customizable comfort. For drivers who spend hours behind the wheel or for families that rack up road miles, the Navigator's Perfect Position Seats reign supreme. Competitors like the Escalade may follow suit as they seek to round out their flagship SUV steeds. About the Author Amos Kwon View Profile

GM skips EVs to expand pickup, Escalade production in Michigan

According to recent reports by the Detroit Free Press and Reuters, General Motors further revealed new plans for a key facility that was initially intended to make electric vehicles. In a statement, the automaker said that it will move production of the Cadillac Escalade luxury full-size SUV to the Orion Assembly plant in Michigan, while also adding capacity for the gas-powered Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks. Currently, the Escalade is produced at the Arlington Assembly plant in Arlington, Texas, alongside its mechanically related cousins, the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, as well as the GMC Yukon and Yukon XL. According to the automaker, the added Silverado and Sierra production at Orion is intended to supplement existing production capabilities in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The announcement comes about a month after General Motors announced multi-billion-dollar investment plans to support domestic auto manufacturing. On June 10, GM announced that it would invest about $4 billion over the next two years to support its U.S. manufacturing plants and efforts to produce gas and electric vehicles. Although the automaker did not specify how much money each plant would receive, it said that the $4 billion would help reconfigure facilities, including the Orion Assembly, the Fairfax Assembly plant in Kansas, and the Spring Hill Manufacturing plant in Tennessee, for future GM vehicles. Originally, Orion was set to be reconfigured for electric vehicle production; however, slowing EV demand triggered delays in restarting the plant. As a result, GM designated the Factory Zero electric vehicle plant in Detroit as the dedicated facility for manufacturing the Chevrolet Silverado EV, GMC Sierra EV, Hummer EV, and Cadillac Escalade IQ. Currently, the Orion assembly manufactures battery modules for full-size EV vehicles made at Factory Zero. In a statement to the Detroit Free Press, a GM spokesperson said that to keep up with customer demand, it will begin production of the gas-powered trucks and SUVs at Orion in 2027. "GM will begin production of the Cadillac Escalade, as well as the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra light-duty pickups at Orion Assembly in early 2027 to help meet continued strong customer demand," the GM spokesperson told Freep. "GM is proud to call Michigan home, and these moves will further strengthen our manufacturing footprint." Although the details of General Motors' production decisions were announced when the automaker announced its multi-billion-dollar domestic manufacturing investment nearly a month ago, the timing could not come at a better time. Currently, the Trump administration's tariffs on vehicle imports are putting direct pressure on the auto industry, and his latest round of double-digit tariff threats is being directed at trade partners, including Mexico and South Korea, countries where the automaker makes some U.S.-market vehicles. Previously, GM indicated that these tariffs would cost the company between $4 billion and $5 billion this year, which prompted executives to revise GM's full-year earnings guidance. In addition, the recently signed "Big Beautiful Bill" contained provisions that eliminated fines for automakers failing to meet Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) rules, making it easier for automakers to build more gas-powered vehicles. According to a 2023 Reuters report, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) fined GM more than $128.2 million for failing to meet CAFE rules during the 2016 and 2017 model years. Pickup trucks and full-size SUVs are some of the most profitable and best-selling vehicles for General Motors. According to a slide deck on GM's website, the first half of 2025 was the best first half for both its pickups and full-size SUVs, while data seen by GM Authority shows that overall Chevrolet Silverado sales improved by 2.15%, with 283,812 of them leaving Chevy dealers from the beginning of the year. Though the Big Bill eliminates CAFE fines, it also contains provisions eliminating the $7,500 federal tax credit for electric vehicle purchases, which could dent General Motors' Equinox EV and Blazer EV sales numbers come September. We will have to wait and see. Copyright 2025 The Arena Group, Inc. All Rights Reserved.

GM outlines $4bn plan to expand production of petrol trucks and SUVs

General Motors (GM) said on Tuesday it will move production of the Cadillac Escalade to a Michigan assembly plant, while adding new capacity for petrol-powered Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra light-duty pickups at the same facility. The production shifts are part of GM's $4bn (R71,562,400,000) investment plan announced in June at US facilities in Michigan, Kansas and Tennessee, a move that expands production of petrol-powered trucks and SUVs. The Detroit giant and many of its US competitors have pulled back on some goals around production of electric vehicles as demand has been weaker than expected. GM's continued investment in vehicles such as the Sierra and Escalade calls into question its plan to end the production of petrol-powered cars and trucks by 2035. The Escalade is produced in Arlington, Texas, alongside other large SUVs such as the GMC Yukon, Chevrolet Suburban and Chevy Tahoe. Production at Arlington is expected to remain consistent after the Escalade moves to Michigan, a GM spokesperson said. The automaker will add production of the Silverado and Sierra trucks at its Orion Township, Michigan factory, in addition to existing production in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The petrol-powered trucks and SUVs are among GM's biggest money makers. GM told Reuters the moves would "help meet continued strong customer demand". GM said it will begin manufacturing the SUVs and light-duty pickup trucks at its Orion Assembly plant in early 2027. Orion Assembly was previously slated to build electric trucks starting next year. The June investment news was welcomed by the White House, which has imposed significant tariffs on imported vehicles to pressure automakers to increase production in the US. President Donald Trump this month signed tax and budget legislation that eliminates fines for failures to meet corporate average fuel economy rules, a move that makes it easier to build more petrol-powered vehicles. GM previously paid $128.2m (R2,292,831,360) in penalties for 2016 and 2017 for failing to meet requirements. The sweeping tax and budget legislation approved by Congress in early July will also eliminate the $7,500 (R134,135) tax credits for buying or leasing new electric vehicles on September 30, which is expected to hit slowing EV growth.
