Man, 48, dies after car goes into oncoming lanes and hits parked trailer near Angola
A 48-year-old Millsboro man was killed early May 16 when he crashed into a parked flatbed trailer near Angola, Delaware State Police said. The identity of the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene, is being withheld by police until his family is notified. Williams Highway (Route 24), investigators said. At the same time, two commercial flatbed trailers were parked in the northbound section of the highway lanes: partially in the northbound shoulder and partially in the grass. There were orange reflective traffic cones positioned alongside the trailers. For reasons under investigation, police said the Sentra left Hollymount Road's south lane and entered the north shoulder, where it hit one of the trailers. The impact pushed the first trailer into the second trailer. Hollymount Road was closed for more than three hours while police investigated and then cleared the scene. Pedestrian hit, killed after car veered off roadway in Ogletown
A 48-year-old pedestrian was killed when he was hit by a teen driver who Delaware State Police said veered off an Ogletown roadway on April 28. Police are withholding the pedestrian's identity until his family and relatives are notified. More: 39-year-old pedestrian struck and killed on Route 113 in Georgetown April 22 The pedestrian, from the Newark area, was in the right shoulder of northbound Salem Church Road, south of Chapman Road, when police said a 2015 Nissan Altima veered off the right side of the road and hit him. Police are investigating why the Nissan, driven by an 18-year-old man, veered off the roadway. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The Nissan driver, from the Bear area, was taken to an area hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Clayton man killed after running stop sign, police say. 3 others injured in crash
A 73-year-old man has died following a two-vehicle crash near Clayton, Delaware State Police said. The Clayton-area man, who police have not identified, was driving a Jeep Compass north on Alley Mill Road west of Clayton about 12:05 p.m. on April 22. As he approached Clayton Delaney Road, police said he "rolled through" the stop sign at the intersection and collided with a Chevrolet Silverado. The Silverado's driver, a 40-year-old Clayton-area man, and his two passengers were taken to an area hospital, where they were treated for minor injuries. They were later released. Man shot dead near Clarence Street Church of God is Seaford's second homicide this year
A 32-year-old man, who police said was shot by "an unknown number" of people in Seaford on Tuesday evening, has died, marking the city's second homicide so far this year. The Seaford man's identity is being withheld until his family is notified, Delaware State Police said. Police were sent out to Clarence Street, between Thomas and Chandler streets, for a report of a shooting about 5:50 p.m. Tuesday. This is the same block as the Clarence Street Church of God. Arriving officers found a wounded man suffering from gunshot wounds. The first responders began life-saving efforts until he was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to police. Dover man, 33, dies following 3-vehicle crash Wednesday morning near Felton
A 33-year-old Dover man died following a three-vehicle crash Wednesday morning near Felton, Delaware State Police said. The Dover man's name is being withheld until his family is notified, police said. More: Police ID man killed while standing in front of disabled car in center lane of I-495 According to police, the man was speeding in a Ford Fusion south on Canterbury Road, north of Roesville Road, about 9 a.m. Wednesday. At the same time, police said a Toyota Camry was northbound on Canterbury Road, approaching the intersection at Roesville Road. When the Camry reached the intersection, police said it turned left onto Roesville Road and was struck by the Fusion. After the crash, police said the Fusion left Canterbury Road, but when it re-entered the roadway it struck a Mazda CX-5 that was behind the Camry. The Mazda then entered a drainage ditch, causing it to roll over on its side. The Fusion driver was unrestrained and pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The Mazda driver, a 28-year-old Felton man, was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries. The Camry driver, a 70-year-old Felton woman, was not injured.
