Last Updated: Vijay Sethupathi and Nithya Menen star in Thalaivan Thalaivii, directed by Pandiraaj. The film, set in Hotel Raghavarthini, releases in July. Vijay Sethupathi and Nithya Menen's upcoming film titled Thalaivan Thalaivii is directed by Pandiraj, known for Etharkkum Thunindhavan. It promises a delicious mix of drama, humour, and some seriously relatable relationship chaos. The makers recently dropped a quirky teaser that takes us inside the colourful world of Hotel Raghavarthini — the main setting of the story. The movie is all set to hit theatres on July 25. Sethupathi plays Aakasaveeran and Nithya Menen is Perarasi, and together they seem to be running a lively little tiffin centre. The teaser gives off feel-good vibes at first, showing off the eatery's charm, but quickly takes a wild turn as action kicks in. It ends with Sethupathi cheekily inviting everyone to the tiffin centre before pulling out a weapon and revealing the release date. The title teaser of Thalaivan Thalaivii had dropped earlier and it opened with mouthwatering visuals of food being prepped. Soon, we were thrown into the kitchen with Vijay and Nithya, mid-cooking, mid-banter, and mid-argument. From playful teasing to full-blown kitchen war, the teaser gave us a hilarious peek into their chemistry. Things go off the rails pretty fast, and just when it felt like the madness has hit its peak, Yogi Babu showed up with his signature humour, teasing that this couple is anything but ordinary. Right after that, Vijay Sethupathi whipped out a gun and fired a shot, ending the teaser on a loud and dramatic note. Thalaivan Thalaivii also has a solid supporting cast with actors like Yogi Babu, Chemban Vinod Jose, Saravanan, RK Suresh, Kaali Venkat, Aruldoss, Roshni Haripriyan, Muthu Kumar, Deepa, and Sendrayan playing important roles. The film is produced by Sendhil Thyagarajan and Arjun Thyagarajan under the Sathya Jyothi Films banner. Santhosh Narayanan is handling the music, while M Sukumar is in charge of the camera work and Pradeep E Ragav is the editor. This is the second time Vijay Sethupathi and Nithya Menen are working together after their 2022 Malayalam film 19(1)(a). Sethupathi was last seen in Ace, and he's got a packed lineup ahead — including Mysskin's upcoming thriller Train, and a big action film with Tabu, directed by Puri Jagannadh and produced by Puri Connects. Director Pandiraj, who is known for his simple, family-based stories, is back after his 2022 film Etharkkum Thunindhavan with Suriya. First Published: July 01, 2025, 08:46 IST
