S$5,000 reward offered for information on alleged Nee Soon serial cat killer
Some animal lovers in Singapore believe a serial cat killer may be on the loose. A cat has been found dead with its hind legs in an odd position in Nee Soon, suggesting an unnatural death. It was discovered just a block away from where a dead community cat was found with its guts hanging out last month. The community has hired a private investigator and put up a $$5,000 bounty to find the perpetrator. The Cat Welfare Society is planning to do more door-to-door visits in the area in hope that a witness will come forward. Eugene Chow reports.

Silver prices surged 14% so far this year
Silver prices have gone up by 14 per cent so far this year. Its demand has been driven by industrial use in growing sectors like electronics and solar power. According to the World Silver Survey, demand from the solar panel industry surged 139 per cent over the past decade, but supply is struggling to keep up, with mine production down some 7 per cent. Singapore breeding bigger, fast-growing tilapia to boost demand, bolster food security
For the first time, Singapore authorities are breeding bigger marine tilapia fish that have better chances of survival, in a bid to boost demand for local produce. Accredited farms may buy these young fish from a centre dedicated to this purpose. Singapore's farm association said the move will help keep the industry sustainable and bolster food security. Five local farms are already producing about 600kg of tilapia a week and they are prepared for five times that volume, if needed. Eugene Chow reports.

Electricity restored for all homes 10 hours after Jalan Kayu block's riser caught fire
Electricity supply for all homes in Jalan Kayu has been restored 10 hours after an electrical riser fire in the morning of May 12 caused an outage. A 57-year old man with a history of asthma was also taken to the hospital following the incident. The Singapore Civil Defence Force said the fire involved contents inside an electrical riser on the 10th floor. Eugene Chow reports.
