Exclusive First Look: Madelyn Cline and KJ Apa Will Break Your Heart in ‘The Map That Leads to You'

Madelyn Cline and KJ Apa are certainly not strangers to an on-screen love story. Madelyn has spent the bulk of the last few years on Outer Banks playing Sarah Cameron, one half of a treasure-hunting couple. And the mega success of Riverdale hinged, in large part, on the love triangle KJ's character found himself in the middle of. In their new movie The Map That Leads to You, they're going even bigger on romance, with a love story that will have you reaching for the tissues. Madelyn plays Heather, an obsessive itinerary-maker fresh out of college who's about to start a big girl job in New York City. She is feeling the pressure of impending adulthood, and she's trying to enjoy her freedom while she can. KJ plays Jack, a go-with-the-flow guy who's a bit of a mystery. He doesn't like plans and he also doesn't work (basically my dream scenario). He's following his grandfather's travel journal through Europe, trying to revisit all the places listed. Based on the J.P. Monninger book of the same name and directed by Lasse Hallström, the movie sees Jack and Heather meet on an overnight train to Barcelona. She's charmed by him even though she tries not to be, and he and his friend Raef (Orlando Norman) join Heather and her girlfriends Amy and Connie (Madison Thompson, Sofia Wylie) for the rest of their adventure. As you might be able to guess if you've seen a single romance movie, sparks fly between Heather and Jack. The movie follows the two of them throughout parts of Spain, then to Portugal, and finally Italy, and their connection proves to be more than just a quick Euro-trip fling.
