H M Sultan Haitham, Lammy review strategic relations
Muscat – His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik gave an audience at Al Barakah Palace on Sunday to David Lammy, United Kingdom's Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs. The meeting reviewed the historical and strategic relations between the two countries, as well as the Omani-British partnership that boosts economic diversification in the sultanate. Lammy lauded His Majesty the Sultan's modern development policies and the tangible impact of these across the country, while reaffirming the British government's keenness to bolstering cooperation and investment in various fields. His Majesty the Sultan expressed his appreciation for the bilateral cooperation and coordination between the two countries' governments, welcoming current partnerships and future prospects. Lammy also touched on several regional and international developments and heard His Majesty the Sultan's perspectives on these matters. He expressed interest in the ceasefire efforts in Gaza and the pursuit of peace and stability, as well as the ongoing US-Iranian negotiations through Omani mediation to reach a new agreement concerning Tehran's nuclear programme for peaceful purposes. During the meeting, the two ministers affirmed the joint desire to follow up on all areas of cooperation and ways of promoting these to serve joint interests. Oman, UK mark 225 years of enduring relations
Muscat – The 16th session of the Oman-UK Joint Working Group convened on Sunday at the Foreign Ministry, underscoring the enduring partnership between the Sultanate of Oman and the United Kingdom. The Omani delegation was led by H E Sheikh Khalifa al Harthy, Undersecretary for Political Affairs, while the UK delegation was headed by Hamish Falconer, Minister for the Middle East and North Africa. Discussions during the meeting focused on enhancing bilateral relations and exploring avenues for cooperation across a wide range of sectors, including culture, tourism, education, vocational training, environment and renewable energy. The two sides also exchanged views on regional and international developments of mutual interest. 'I had a dialogue on boosting growth and clean energy in both countries. We also discussed regional security, jointly calling for the return to a ceasefire in Gaza and an end to bloodshed,' Falconer posted on X. The meeting was attended by Mundhir bin Mahfoudh al Mandhari, Head of Europe Department; Abdullah bin Hamad al Riyami, Head of Cultural Cooperation Department; H E Dr Lianne Saunders, UK Ambassador to Oman; and representatives of relevant government entities. On the sidelines of the session, the British Embassy in Muscat hosted a special celebration to mark the 225th anniversary of the Treaty of Enduring Relations, first signed in 1800. The event featured the unveiling of a commemorative logo symbolising the historic and deep-rooted ties between the two nations.

The Omani side was headed by Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali al Harthy, Under-Secretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Affairs, while the British side was headed by Hamish Falconer, Minister of State for the Middle East. During the meeting, the two sides reviewed aspects of bilateral relations and explored means of boosting them to achieve desired objectives. Both sides discussed areas of joint cooperation in the cultural, tourism, educational, vocational training, environmental and renewable energy fields. They also exchanged views on regional and international developments. Sayyid Badr receives message from Armenian FM
MUSCAT: Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Foreign Minister received a written message from Ararat Mirzoyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia dealing with boosting diplomatic relations and cooperation between the two countries. The message was handed over to Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali al Harthy, Under-Secretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Affairs when he received Hrachya Poladian, Envoy of the Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs.
