High temperatures and possible heatwaves to return in France in August

After much of France recently enjoyed cooler temperatures following an intense heatwave in June and July, French forecasters have warned that August could bring hotter, drier weather, along with a possible heatwave. It is still early for month-long predictions, and the various weather models do not yet agree on the intensity of the heat and the day it is set to start. In the north, skies will remain variable until Wednesday, at which point temperatures will rise. "The heat could become noticeable in the second half of the week," the weather service forecast. Météo France forecaster François Jobard posted on Bluesky that people should "enjoy the relative coolness this week because significantly warmer weather awaits us next week." Another weather service, La Chaîne Météo, also estimated that the heat index would rise at the end of next week toward seasonal averages. The weather service estimated that "temperatures would rise between 5C-8C [during the first week of August], with temperatures above 30C south of the Loire, and highs reaching 36C to 37C in south-western France."
