Choir sings to in celebration of charity's 50 years in Pembrokeshire

Pembroke and District Male Voice Choir entertained the audience with a varied programme at the Regency Hall in Saundersfoot. The soloist was soprano Eva Rich, one of the founders of Guide Dogs Pembrokeshire. She performed a selection of her favourite songs, including What a Wonderful World, Smile, My Little Welsh Home, If I Only Had Time and Que Sera Sera. The concert raised £550 for Guide Dogs. Among the guests were local guide dogs Skip and Eddie with their owners Adge John and John Woolsgrove, reminding everyone what a wonderful cause they were supporting. Eva Rich thanked the choir on behalf of Guide Dogs Pembrokeshire, adding special thanks to musical director Juliette Rossiter, who accompanied her, and choir accompanist Reverend William Lambert. She said: 'I've been a guide dog owner since I was 19 and had seven dogs in all. I'm currently hoping to be matched with my eighth, but it has to be the right dog for me. 'Guide Dogs Pembrokeshire has been putting the fun into fundraising for 50 wonderful years, and we're so grateful to all the local people and visitors to the area who support our stall at Saundersfoot Harbour on Wednesdays and Fridays.'

Saundersfoot guide dog volunteer celebrates Lifetime award

Eva Rich, from Saundersfoot, received a Lifetime of Service award in an event in Cardiff coinciding with Volunteers Week. Andrew Lennox, Guide Dogs' chief executive, announced that Ms Rich has been a guide dog owner for 63 years with seven guide dogs throughout her life. The names of each dog were read out during the ceremony. Ms Rich revealed to the audience her anticipation of being paired with guide dog number eight, following the withdrawal of Nancy, a Labrador cross retriever. Pembrokeshire's collection box coordinator, Lynn Knibbs, accompanied Mrs Rich at the event, where they were presented with a bouquet, badge, commemorative plate imprinted with a guide dog image, as well as a certificate.
