He's a D.C. office worker — and he's playing the Masters
AUGUSTA, Ga. — The highest point at Augusta National Golf Club is the third floor of the iconic white clubhouse — the Crow's Nest — which is where the amateur golfers in the Masters field typically take up residence and sleep each night of the tournament. So in that sense, Evan Beck has found himself on top of his world this week.

Amateurs gather for annual dinner with chairman Fred Ridley at Augusta National
There are many traditions the week of the Masters. A couple big ones are in the books after Monday night. First, the five amateurs in the field joined Augusta National Golf Club chairman Fred Ridley on Monday night for the annual Amateur Dinner, not to be outdone by the Champions Dinner to come Tuesday. Evan Beck, Josele Ballester, Noah Kent, Justin Hastings and Hiroshi Tai all had dinner at the clubhouse, and then the group stayed in the Crow's Nest, the famed spot on top of the Masters clubhouse. An unforgettable night for the amateurs. #themasters — The Masters (@TheMasters) April 8, 2025 "I don't know if everything has even hit me yet," Hastings said Monday during his pre-tournament press conference. "It's totally surreal, and I don't think I'll be able to put it into words now, and I don't know if I ever will be." The amateurs are all competing for the Silver Cup, which is awarded to the low amateur who makes the cut. Neal Shipley won the award last year. Who's playing in the 2025 Masters? There are now 94 players on the invite list
Who's playing in the 2025 Masters? There are now 94 players on the invite list It's the first men's major of the year. And it's almost here. It's a somewhat exclusive field to get into, as many years there are about 90 golfers on the tee sheet at Augusta National Golf Club. That compares to most tournaments with 132 golfers with some having as many 156, like the U.S. Open. With the countdown officially on, there are now 94 golfers on the invite list who can look forward to that drive down Magnolia Lane in 2025, according to the Masters official website. The list for the Masters includes five amateurs who must maintain that amateur status if they would like to play in April: Josele Ballester, Evan Beck, Justin Hastings, Noah Kent and Hiroshi Tai. Who is qualified for 2025 Masters?
