With the NBA draft right around the corner, now is the time to look at some past drafts and see what the Philadelphia 76ers have done in their history. The Sixers have selected some big-time players in the past who have become an important part of the fabric of the franchise's history. This next edition turns to the 2010 NBA draft after the Sixers had a tough 2009-10 season under coach Eddie Jordan. Philadelphia had the No. 2 pick in the draft and selected Big10 Player of the Year, Evan Turner out of Ohio State. Advertisement Turner struggled a bit to begin his NBA career averaging 7.2 points and 3.9 rebounds while shooting 42.5% from the floor as a rookie. However, as time went on, he became an important piece to the Sixers as they made the playoffs in 2011 and 2012. He was averaging 17.4 points to begin the 2013-14 season before being sent to the Indiana Pacers at the deadline in the beginning of The Process era. Turner spent 10 years in the NBA playing for the Sixers, Pacers, Boston Celtics, Portland Trail Blazers, and Atlanta Hawks. He averaged 9.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in his career as he established himself as somebody who could do a little bit of everything on the floor. Take-Two Shares Drop on GTA's ‘Perfect Track Record of Delays'

Video game publisher Take-Two Interactive Software saw its shares drop by as much as 10% Friday after the company announced that the next edition of its Grand Theft Auto game would be delayed until 2026. It finished the day down 6.66%. 'We hope you understand that we need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve,' Take-Two Rockstar Games division wrote on a social media post Friday morning. The past two editions of Grand Theft Auto have each been delayed by six months, with earlier versions also behind schedule. 'Rockstar keeps its perfect track record of delays' Jefferies analyst James Heaney wrote in a morning note on the news. 'Getting an actual release date reduces the likelihood of a further delay, but with Rockstar that chance is never zero.' While the GTA delay means Take-Two probably falls short of revenue expectations for 2025, Friday's share drop is probably just short-term minded traders exiting their positions without any serious judgment on Take-Two's long-term business being passed by the market, according to Heaney. 2026 'should still deliver record bookings from Mafia and Borderlands 4, and all past Rockstar delays have ultimately proven to be buying opportunities,' he wrote. Previous editions of Red Dead Redemption (RDR), another one of the Take Two's core franchises, have also been delivered behind schedule, as have many other Rockstar titles, according to a 2024 article by enthusiast publication Kotaku. While Grand Theft Auto hasn't been positioned as an esports title, its success has been integral to Take Two's business. GTA, RDR, NBA 2K, BioShock and Borderlands account for some 85% of the company's revenue, according to CFRA analyst Shreya Gheewala. Take-Two has had one of the highest-performing stocks of publicly traded video game-makers the past six months; it has risen 22% while Electronic Arts, Microsoft and Ubisoft have all declined. The company also benefited from management's confidence that Grand Theft Auto would be released this fall. Take-Two flawlessly released NBA 2K25 last year with better-than-expected results. 'We're forecasting calendar year 2025 to be an inflection point for Take-Two from the groundbreaking release of Grand Theft Auto VI to the unmatched pipeline that 2K is set to deliver,' Take-Two executive chairman and CEO Strauss Zelnick said in February. The company is expected to release 2K PGA and WWE titles this year. The delay should also have a beneficial effect on EA, which has struggled in the stock market due to mediocre business in its EA Sports FC 25 game, the soccer title previously published with the FIFA name. EA has said it will not release the next version of its Battlefield, a first-person shooter game, this year if it had to compete against GTA for consumer attention, according to Heaney. The fall selling window is now opening up for EA, and, in line with that thinking, EA shares jumped as high as 6% Friday in early trading. (This story has been updated with the final Take-Two stock change Friday and clarified in the ninth paragraph to note its stock is one of the sector's best performers this year, rather than the best.) Former NBA player Evan Turner shares his biggest financial mistake — and how he bounced back

Listen and subscribe to Financial Freestyle on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you find your favorite podcasts. When Evan Turner signed with the Philadelphia 76ers in 2010, his two-year deal was estimated to be worth around $12 million. Though he was once the second overall draft pick for the NBA, he now describes himself as a 'retired has-been basketball player and a dad.' Though many professional athletes find themselves cashing in on contracts worth millions of dollars, Sports Illustrated reported that 60% of NBA players are expected to face financial hardship in the first five years after retirement. On Yahoo Finance's Financial Freestyle, Turner shared the biggest financial mistake he made after signing his first NBA contract: taking out a line of credit before he received his first paycheck, putting him in massive debt. 'I took a line of credit out, just getting stuff I really wanted to get that made absolutely no sense,' he admitted. 'It wasn't too crazy, but even just buying a car was crazy.' 'Before you know it, you're in $120,000 [of] debt,' he added. His steady and lucrative income meant his debt wasn't particularly burdensome, and Turner claimed that he was 'pretty frugal' for the first four years of his basketball career. But his smartest move, he said, was finding a financial adviser. 'I just told [my financial adviser] I wanted to learn,' he said. 'I was serious, and I'm from the hood, bro. That stock market stuff don't really mean stuff to me. I want to see what it is. And he did a great job of being careful with me but also being sensitive to the ignorance that I had in regards to money.' Turner said one's relationship with their financial adviser should be a close one and emphasized the importance of having difficult conversations with those handling your money. 'You meet a lot of guys that have [financial] representation, they don't even speak to them,' Turner said, adding that whoever is handling his money should be like 'my best friend.' 'I need to know, day in and day out, what's going on,' he said, 'and you should be speaking to me as much as possible.' The former basketball star said he regularly audits his financial adviser and receives updates on his investments. Turner retired from the NBA at 31, which he said was seven years earlier than he had planned. Because of this, he's still making adjustments to his finances to adapt to the lifestyle he has without his NBA income. He's also making moves to set up resources for his daughter to pay for college or a wedding down the line, accepting that 'the party's over, but life is still good and going on.' 'I think one thing that occurs ... is just shedding that past chapter of whoever you thought you were. Like, millions ain't coming in no more,' he said. 'When [you're] sitting there, you have to really adjust your spending and what your lifestyle really is.' Every Monday, Financial Freestyle host Ross Mac talks with key guests to discuss their wealth-building journeys and what it takes to build a lasting financial footprint.
