Two people in 'critical condition' in hospital after A82 car and bus crash near Glencoe

Two people are in a critical condition in hospital following a collision involving a car and a bus on the A82 near Glencoe. Police, firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene of the two-vehicle crash on the Fort William to Glasgow route on Thursday morning. Three fire appliances were tasked to the incident, involving a Seat Leon and a bus, after the alarm was raised shortly before 11.30am. An air ambulance, two ambulances and a paramedic response unit also responded. Firefighters extracted one person from the car before handing them over to paramedics. Both the driver and the passenger were transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, where they remain in a critical condition There were no reports of any other injuries. Police closed the A82 in both directions at Ballachulish while a full investigation was carried out. Drivers faced a 90-mile diversion via the A85 and A828. The road reopened at around 7.15pm. In a statement, a fir spokesperson said: 'We were alerted at 11.26am on Thursday, 3 July, to reports of a road traffic collision involving a car and a bus on the A82 near Glencoe. 'Operations Control mobilised three fire appliances and a heavy rescue unit to the scene. 'Firefighters extracted one casualty from the car and handed them into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service. Several other casualties were assessed at the scene. 'Crews have now left the area after ensuring it was safe.' An investigation has now been launched into the crash. Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward to assist with their inquiries. Motorists are also being encouraged to check their dash-cam footage. Sergeant Ewan Calder said: 'I am appealing to anyone who was travelling on the A82 around 11.15am yesterday and saw what happened to contact us. 'Likewise, if you saw either vehicle prior to the collision and have information which may assist our investigation, please get in touch. 'I'd also ask drivers with dash-cam footage to review this and bring anything of significance to our attention.' Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference number 1206 of July 3.

A pedestrian has been taken to hospital after being struck by car on the A82. Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash near Inverlochy Castle, Torlundy, at around 12.15pm on Tuesday. The pedestrian, a 58-year-old woman, was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries. The 20-year-old female driver of the car, a purple Peugeot 107, was uninjured. Officers closed the road for six hours to investigate the scene. Police Scotland is urging anyone with information to come forward. Sergeant Ewan Calder said: 'Our enquiries into the full circumstances of this crash are ongoing and I am asking anyone who may have witnessed what happened to get in touch.
