Unending drama unfolded at Lord's last week when India locked horns with England in the third Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. Both sides posted identical first-innings scores of 387, before India's bowlers bundled England out for 192, giving the tourists a real shot at seizing control.
However, the hosts came back roaring with a lethal bowling attack. The likes of Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer were yelling fire as they reduced India to 58/4 by stumps on Day 4, and the collapse deepened early on the final day. India were tottering at 82/7 when Jadeja took charge and put up a brave fight alongside Bumrah and Siraj, but England held their nerve to seal a 22-run win.
Former England pacer Steve Harmison reckons the result at Lord's could have swung India's way had Virat Kohli been in the playing XI. Speaking to Cricinfo, the former England pacer said the touring party would've chased down the target and taken a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.
'India has scored more hundreds, more top-order runs, and more new ball wickets, but England has got a knack of finding a way to win. Finding a way of creating an event throughout a session to change the course of the game," Harmison said.
'For me, India has to start believing. This is where the likes of Virat Kohli were unbelievable. In a fourth innings chase, he goes and wins the game comfortably. He would have won that game comfortably at Lord's," he added.
This is India's first England tour since 2014, in which Virat Kohli isn't part of the squad. The former captain announced his retirement from Test cricket on May 12, more than a month before the Test series. It brought the curtains down on a stellar 14-year career across continents and conditions, both as batter and captain.

In 123 Tests, Kohli amassed 9,230 runs at an average of 46.85, with 30 centuries, 31 fifties, and a top score of 254*. He finishes as India's fourth-highest run-scorer in the format, behind only Sachin Tendulkar (15,921), Rahul Dravid (13,265), and Sunil Gavaskar (10,122).
