Scaling heights at lion dance competition
FORTY teams from 15 countries will participate in the 15th Resorts World Genting (RWG) lion dance championship. First held back in 1994, this year's competition will take place from July 25 to 27 at RWG's Arena of Stars in Genting Highlands, Pahang. The participating countries are Australia, Brunei, Canada, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, the US and Vietnam. The top three teams will receive cash prizes totalling US$34,000 (about RM146,000), said RWG sales, marketing and public relations executive vice-president Spencer Lee. 'There will also be seven Excellence Awards worth US$1,800 (RM7,700) each,' he said at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur. This new prize will be awarded to the team who executes the most daring stunts during their performance. 'We decided that the team showcasing the most impressive set of stunts deserves to be acknowledged too,' said Leong, adding that the first prize was US$2,000 (about RM8,600) and a trophy. Leong: New category recognises the most daring stunts. To close the competition with a bang, Miss Universe Malaysia 2024 Sandra Lim will present a martial arts routine. Zain recognized for empowering national talent in private sector
Company recently participated in AUM's annual Career Expo KUWAIT: Zain received a recognition from the American University of the Middle East (AUM) in appreciation of its ongoing efforts to empower the local job market with skilled national talent capable of leading Kuwait's digital future. The recognition was presented during the university's annual Excellence Awards ceremony honoring leading companies, held at the Cultural Center on its Egaila campus. During the event, Tareq Al-Othman, Chairman of HumanSoft Holding, presented the award to Hamad Al-Musaibeeh, Corporate Relations Department Manager at Zain Kuwait, in recognition of the company's continuous support of the AUM Career Expo. Zain recently sponsored the expo's 11th edition, which was also attended by AUM President, Prof Dr Georges Yahchouchi. The award highlights the strength of the long-standing partnership between Zain and AUM, and Zain's strategic role in consistently attracting and developing national talent for the private sector. This contribution helps strengthen the presence of local competencies in the job market, especially in skillsets related to STEM. Zain expressed its gratitude to AUM for this recognition, viewing it as a meaningful acknowledgment from one of the country's leading academic institutions of the company's role in supporting the development of both education and human capital, two key pillars for advancing Kuwait's economy. Five OIA companies win Excellence Awards
MUSCAT: Oman Investment Authority (OIA) announced the winners of the second edition of the OIA Excellence Awards. The awards recognize efforts to promote a culture of continuous improvement, celebrate outstanding companies that contributed to achieving national objectives, and encourage competitiveness in performance enhancement. 'Omantel' won in the Growth and Job Creation category for achieving a revenue growth compared to last year and investing 18% of its assets in new projects—achieving 98% of its target. The company also succeeded in creating job opportunities for Omanis and replacing expats with Omanis, raising its Omanization rate to 94%. 'ITHCA Group' excelled in the Financial Sustainability and Performance category for leading the 2024 financial sustainability assessment by achieving the highest improvement in financial sustainability indicators among all companies and delivering a positive financial performance during 2024. 'Omran Group' was awarded the excellence award in Private Sector and SMEs Empowerment category for achieving a high growth rate in the development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). In addition, it exited from investments in favor of the private sector, and reached a rate of 56% in total investment through the private sector. 'OQ Group' received the excellence award in the In-Country Value (ICV) and RDI category for achieving the highest average spending on ICV as a percentage of total supply chain expenditure during 2023 and 2024. The Group also excelled in the number of supplier development programs, ring fencing initiatives, and research, development, and innovation (RDI) projects. 'ASYAD Group' won in the Project Excellence category for the 'Duqm Container Terminal' project. The project scored high efficiency in adherence to budget, timeline, and safety standards. The project also achieved a high Omanization rate exceeding 70%, and maximized in-country value by sourcing 43% of project expenditures through local suppliers and companies. Abdulsalam Al Murshidi, President of OIA, said the Excellence Awards recognized the significant improvement achieved by OIA companies in their revenues in 2024 compared to 2023. They also implemented new investments through approved projects and expanded operational initiatives that supported the local market. In addition, there was a consistent focus on employment and raising Omanization rates. The companies also increased their strategic partnerships with the private sector and supported small and medium enterprises (SMEs) through various initiatives, contract allocations, and development and training programs. They maximized their local impact by increasing local procurement spending and supporting local suppliers through supplier development programs and initiatives to localize products and services. As a result, total spending on SMEs reached RO 265.5 million, over 50 innovative projects were developed, and ICV rate increased to 32% in 2024 compared to 23% in 2023.

Zain proud strategic partner of KFA in driving the growth of local sports
KUWAIT CITY, 13 May 13: Zain participated in the crowning ceremony of Kuwait Sports Club as champions of the Zain Premier League (Dawri Zain) for the 2024/2025 football season, held on the sidelines of the final match of the Championship Group stage at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium. The crowning of the champions was joined by the Chairman of the Kuwait Football Association, Sheikh Ahmad Al-Yousef Al-Sabah, Zain Kuwait's Chief Corporate Affairs and Relations Officer, Waleed Al-Khashti, the Honorary President of Kuwait SC, Marzouq Al-Ghanim, Club President Khalid Al-Ghanim, club board members, and officials from both Zain and the KFA. Zain congratulated the players, management, and fans of Kuwait SC on securing the league title for the fourth consecutive year, reaffirming their status as the most decorated club in the history of the Kuwait Premier League with a total of 20 titles. The club clinched the championship during the final round of the Championship Group by defeating Al-Arabi SC 2-1. Zain also congratulated Al-Arabi SC for securing second place and Qadsia SC for achieving third place, expressing its appreciation to all participating teams for demonstrating high sportsmanship and delivering a season full of excitement that entertained thousands of fans and followers. This crowning comes as part of Zain's strategic partnership with the Kuwait Football Association, under which the company serves as the official sponsor of the Association's activities and tournaments for the 2022–2026 seasons. The partnership includes support to the Zain Premier League (Dawri Zain), the Zain First Division League, HH the Amir's Cup, and HH the Crown Prince's Cup. As the official sponsor of the KFA's activities, Zain offers seasonal prizes to players and fans, with a total value exceeding KD 60,000 per season — the highest prize value in the history of the Kuwaiti league.
