Saquon Barkley makes bold claim about 2024 Eagles' place in NFL history

It's safe to say that Saquon Barkley is very high on his Super Bowl-winning Eagles squad. When asked where he believes that the 2024 Eagles rank in NFL history, Barkley did not hold back, saying that the team is top-five of all time. 'I firmly believe when you look at our team that we had last year — I know we're not looking too far into the past — but our team last year, I think we're a top-five team of all time,' Barkley said during an episode of the 'Exciting Mics' podcast on Thursday. Jalen [Hurts] got hurt that game. 'But if you really look at the season outside the first four games, it was belt to ass. How dominant you guys were on defense and how dominant we were on offense and special teams, people don't realize how great of a team that actually was.' The Eagles were tied with the Vikings for the third-best record in the NFL last year, going 14-3 in the regular season. After a somewhat rocky start to the 2024 season, the Eagles finished the year with a 10-1 record in which they outscored their opponents 329-188. The Eagles were able to take that run into the postseason, defeating the two-time defending champion Chiefs in Super Bowl 2025 in a blowout 40-22 win. 'I think we all just bought in,' Barkley said. 'You hear the outside noise and expectation. We didn't care how it looked. The only thing we cared about was winning football games. When you have the talent and skill that we have on our team mixed with the coaches, we all play together like how we played, teams really stood no chance. 'You've seen that in the playoffs. You've seen that in the Super Bowl. The score finished 40 to 20-something, but in reality, it wasn't even really a game.' Barkley, who rushed for 2,005 yards last year, added, 'I really think when we look back on it in 10 to 15 years, and we're all old and we're reflecting on our glory days — hopefully next year, the year we're in right now — but the year that we had last year, people don't give us enough credit.' Murray-NY Post During the podcast, Barkley also took the time to call out the owners who tried to ban the Eagles' signature tush push play. The vote did not pass, though 22 teams vote in favor of banning the play. 'The banning thing of it, I think it's soft, to be honest,' Barkley said. 'Because everybody can do it. It's not like a play that we only can do, everybody can do it. It's just, we happen to have one of the best and biggest O-lines and Jalen Hurts can squat 600 pounds. That's not our fault.' 'Josh Allen is super big, [the Bills] aren't successful with it. Lamar Jackson is one of the best running quarterbacks of all time, [the Ravens] aren't successful with it,' Barkley added. 'It's not something that everyone can't do, so them trying to eliminate it, I think that's kind of lame.'

Saquon Barkley doesn't mince words when ranking the 2024 Eagles vs. other champs

Saquon Barkley doesn't mince words when ranking the 2024 Eagles vs. other champs If one wants to know where Saquon Barkley believes the 2024-25 Eagles rank, all they have to do is ask him. We're in luck. 'Exciting Mics' did exactly that. What you are experiencing is familiar. You are not alone. That uneasy feeling comes from podcast fatigue. At this point, there are just too many to keep up with. Thousands are covering the Philadelphia Eagles. Some are better than others, but there are also a handful worth tapping the 'subscribe' button to keep up with when they are dropping new material. Here's one you'll need to add to the list: Exciting Mics. It features Philly's 'Exciting Whites', a.k.a. Reed Blankenship and Cooper DeJean. We'll see if they add rookie Ty Robinson at some point, but until then, they seem to have a nice pool from which they can pluck upcoming guests. How about the reigning NFL Offensive Player of the Year? Saquon Barkley appeared in the second episode, and you'll undoubtedly want to know what he said about the defending champions. Saquon ranks the 2024-25 Philadelphia Eagles as a top-five team all-time. "I firmly believe, when you look at our team that we had last year, and I know we're not looking too far into the past, but our team last year... I think we're a top-five team of all time." Those were the words of one Saquon Barkley, a tad over a dozen minutes into the Exciting Mics podcast. "If you look at the season, outside of the first four games, like, it was 'belt to ass'". Saquon rushed for 2,005 yards last season, making him only the ninth player in NFL history to have done so. Some say we were robbed of history, that Philly should have allowed him the opportunity to break Eric Dickerson's single-season rushing record (2,105). Ultimately, the coaching staff and organization decided they didn't want to risk getting him injured. They determined they couldn't stomach the idea of possibly losing one of their most dangerous offensive weapons for the duration of the postseason. No one can argue with the results of that decision. He and his Eagles are again Super Bowl Champions, and had he not played in the Divisional Round Game vs. the Los Angeles Rams, that may not have happened. But, how about that claim? Top five all-time? That's some excellent company to be in. That places Philly's second Super Bowl winner alongside the 1972 Miami Dolphins and 1985 Chicago Bears. Saquon is a student of the game. He knows that, but he's never been one to mince words. If he believes it, everyone else should think this is worth a conversation.

Super Bowl hero gives back by working a drive-thru shift at Checkers

Super Bowl hero gives back by working a drive-thru shift at Checkers Cooper DeJean swaps the gridiron for the grill with a drive-thru shift at Checkers. One day, we'll all be old and grey. If we're fortunate, we'll be able to spend hours on the porch in our recliners or rocking chairs, talking to the grandchildren about the Philadelphia Eagles' glory days. Two of the stories they'll probably hear repeatedly will be about Brandon Graham's strip-sack of Tom Brady in Super Bowl 52 and Cooper DeJean's pick-six interception in football's biggest game seven years later. Every once in a while, moments happen, and we know we'll never forget where we were when they occurred. A three-play sequence during the second quarter of Super Bowl 59 might be among the most incredible defensive series in franchise history. Vic Fangio's unit sacked Patrick Mahomes on consecutive plays. Leading to the first interception by an Eagle in the big game and a return for the ages. Don't take anyone else's word for it. Take a look for yourselves. That never gets old. That's just as exciting as it was when it happened live. Cooper DeJean will work a drive-thru shift at Checkers before the Eagles begin OTAs. Year two is loading for Cooper DeJean and the other Eagles' 2025 draft class members. The organized team activities (OTA) dates are May 27-28, May 30, June 2-3, and June 5. Coop has been keeping himself busy in the meantime. He and Reed Blankenship (the Exciting Whites) have launched their 'Exciting Mics' podcast. Recently, per a report, DeJean will also give back by working a shift at the drive-thru window at Checkers on Saturday, May 17, from 6:30-7 p.m. EST at 9173 Roosevelt Blvd. This comes after he hosts a youth football camp at the Haverford School in Delaware County. In celebration of 'Cooping Up Fries,' Checkers will donate $0.33 from every sale of large fries from Friday to Sunday to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia. In addition, every 100th customer on Saturday and Sunday will receive an autographed hat signed by DeJean. Here's a tip of the cap to an Eagles legend in the making. Hats off to Checkers. Hats off to everyone involved.

Eagles defensive back duo set to launch a new podcast

Eagles defensive back duo set to launch a new podcast Philadelphia Eagles safety Reed Blankenship and star CB Cooper DeJean are releasing a new podcast based on their nicknames, titled 'Exciting Mics' The Eagles have one of the best secondaries in the NFL, and that talent is buoyed by stud safety Reed Blankenship, star slot cornerback, and future All-Pro, Cooper DeJean. The two have grown close over the past year, and formally embraced the nicknames, "Exciting Whites' based on the matching t-shirts the two stars wore to a game following a photograph of a sign in a supermarket of a wine selection named "Exciting Whites" going viral. The Eagles won Super Bowl 59, and almost every player has capitalized on the success, including the two talented defensive backs. On Wednesday night, DeJean and Blankenship teased the first episode of a new podcast, 'Exciting Mics.' Prior to the Eagles' win in Super Bowl 59, DeJean stated that the two were thinking of starting a podcast where they drink white wine and just hang out. Now that dream has come to fruition, joining former Eagles Jason Kelce, Darius Slay, and C.J. Gardner-Johnson in the streaming world.
