Thousands of runners expected at Experience Oman Muscat Marathon
Thousands of runners from across the world are gearing up to participate in Experience Oman Muscat Marathon 2025, set to be the largest and most diverse marathon in the sultanate yet. The marathon, taking place on February 21 and 22, will welcome runners of all levels. It is held in partnership with Al Mouj Muscat as the founding partner. This year's marathon features an exciting lineup of races catering to all ages and abilities, including the 42 km full marathon, 21 km half marathon, 10 km race, 5 km race, kids' races, and the highly anticipated 2.5 km Fun Run. Sponsored by Ooredoo, the Fun Run offers a vibrant, inclusive experience designed for families, friends, and individuals of all abilities. This non-competitive event is perfect for those looking to enjoy a light, scenic run through Muscat, with a focus on fun and participation rather than competition. Azzan Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for Tourism, emphasised the importance of this event, stating: 'We are proud to be the title sponsor of the Muscat Marathon, an event that not only showcases Oman's stunning natural beauty and rich heritage but also aligns with the country's Vision 2040. 13,000 runners from 60 nations make Muscat Marathon a success
Muscat – The Experience Oman Muscat Marathon 2025 brought together a vibrant community of over 13,000 runners from more than 60 countries over February 21-22, providing a unique platform for local and international athletes to compete at the highest level. Held under the patronage of Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and organised by Sabco Sports, with Al Mouj Muscat as founding partner and venue host, this year's event marked its most diverse and successful edition yet. With record-breaking participation, the marathon reaffirmed its status as a world-class running event, showcasing Oman's rich culture, stunning landscapes and growing prominence on the global sporting stage. Runners of all ages and abilities competed in a variety of categories, including the highly anticipated 42km marathon, 21km half marathon, 10km and 5km races, a children's race and 2.5km Fun Run sponsored by Ooredoo, all designed to encourage inclusivity and community engagement, a press release said. International participation highlights Experience Oman Muscat Marathon
Muscat: The "Experience Oman Muscat Marathon 2025" officially began today, Friday, 21 February 2025, at Al Mouj Muscat, under the patronage of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism(MHT). The event has attracted significant international participation, showcasing the region's stunning landscapes and scenic beauty. Day one featured the full 42-kilometre marathon, the 21-kilometre half marathon, and a 10-kilometre race. The winners were awarded their prizes by His Excellency the Minister of Heritage and Tourism at the conclusion of the day's events. His Excellency the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for Tourism emphasised the Ministry's commitment to supporting events like the "Experience Oman Muscat Marathon 2025." He highlighted the importance of leveraging the economic benefits of sports tourism and solidifying Oman's reputation as a premier destination for hosting global events and competitions.
