King Kat Catfishing Tournament coming to Vanderburgh County

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Explore Evansville has announced that the nationally recognized King Kat Tournament Trail will make its first-ever stop in Evansville on May 17. Officials say this premier catfishing competition brings top anglers from across the country to compete on the scenic Ohio River. The tournament will launch from the Dogtown Boat Ramp at 5500 Old Henderson Road, with anglers fishing in the J.T. Meyers Pool. Participants must have lines out by 3 p.m. and be in the weigh-in line no later than 4 p.m.. A live feed of the weigh-in will begin at approximately 3:30 p.m., offering fans a front-row seat to the action and some of the biggest catches of the day. Here's a look at events from May 15 through 18, 2025 Explore Evansville says in addition to the main tournament, Evansville will also host the King Kat Youth Fishing Rodeo that same morning from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Burdette Park Lakeside, which is located at 5301 Nurrenbern Road. This free event invites children 15 and under to enjoy a fun, educational introduction to fishing in a safe, family-friendly environment. Registration begins at 8 a.m. on-site. HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) – Excitement is buzzing for Tell City as a ticket for the fourth-largest Hoosier Lotto jackpot in game history was sold for Wednesday's drawing. Hoosier Lotto officials state the ticket was sold at On the Fly on 12th Street. Officials also state the ticket sold was for a jackpot of $42.5 million. The winning numbers for the drawing are 10-16-24-33-39-46. Explore Evansville wins best promotion for coverage of 2024 total solar eclipse 'Congratulations to our newest Hoosier Lotto jackpot millionaire,' said Hoosier Lottery Executive Director Sarah M. Taylor. 'Since its first drawing in 1990, Hoosier Lotto has remained Indiana's hometown favorite jackpot game.' Officials say Wednesday's jackpot was only the fifth time in Hoosier Lotto history that the jackpot has topped $40 million. The Hoosier Lotto jackpot for Saturday, March 15 is an estimate $1 million. Officials say a seasoned tourism and hospitality executive with over 30 years of industry experience, Tom White will fill the position effective March 3. He will lead the organization in driving economic growth, increasing visitation and positioning Evansville as a premier destination for conventions, meetings and leisure travel. Convicted fraudster sentenced to 10 years, ordered to pay nearly $2M 'We are thrilled to welcome Tom to Explore Evansville,' said Mackenzie Black, Chair of the Explore Evansville Board, 'His extensive background in tourism, destination marketing, and sales leadership makes him the ideal person to lead our organization forward. His proven track record of generating revenue, building strong partnerships, and leading high-performing teams will be invaluable as we continue to grow Evansville's visitor economy.' Explore Evansville says White joins it from Visit Mobile, where he served as Vice President of Convention and Leisure Sales. During his tenure, he implemented 'strategic' initiatives that led to a 'record-breaking' 112,000 booked room nights in 2023, strengthening Mobile's position as a competitive destination for conventions and meetings. Previously, White held leadership roles with Yedla Hotel Management Company, overseeing marketing efforts for a portfolio of 22 hotels, and the U.S. Space and Rocket Center, where he expanded group sales and drove revenue growth to 'record' levels. Explore Evansville says in addition to his professional achievements, White is actively involved in the tourism industry at both state and national levels, serving on various boards, including the Student and Youth Travel Association Foundation, National Tour Association and Alabama Travel Council. Evansville Christian School to add 8-classroom expansion The organization says as he transitions into leadership at Explore Evansville, he will focus on advancing the implementation of the Tourism Master Plan, enhancing destination marketing, expanding visitor engagement and strengthening partnerships with local and regional stakeholders, all while driving key tourism projects forward.
