Your Galaxy Z Flip7 might not have an Exynos chip after all
Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip7 is expected to launch in early July alongside the Galaxy Z Fold7, and we've recently heard that the Flip7 would be using Samsung's long-delayed Exynos 2500 chipset. Yesterday, a benchmark run of the US-bound model surfaced with the Exynos 2500 on board, and that seemed to settle things regarding regional availability - in short, it looked like the Exynos would be in worldwide. Today, however, a new report from Samsung's home of Korea claims otherwise. According to a local publication, the Exynos 2500 will only be used in the Flip7 in Korea, while every other region will get the Snapdragon 8 Elite instead. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 This report also reconfirms recent rumors that said the Galaxy Z Fold7 would go with the Snapdragon 8 Elite worldwide. So, at the moment, the situation is very confusing. But, regardless of where exactly we'll see the Exynos 2500 inside the Flip7, it clearly will be powering the device at least in some markets. This will be the first time Samsung has used one of its own chipsets in a foldable smartphone, so it's a pretty major milestone for the company. And it finally gives the Exynos 2500 a very belated debut - it was initially developed to be powering the Galaxy S25 family, but that didn't happen due to its yield issues at the time. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 rumor just got shot down — but only in the US
Every year before Samsung debuts its latest phones, foldable or otherwise, rumors swirl that the Korean tech giant is going to attempt to launch the handsets with its own Exynos chips. As we get closer to the release of Samsung's foldable Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, those same rumors have been circulating. And now we have the backlash rumor with Hankyung, a Korean publication (via Jukanlosreve), reporting that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will feature Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, with a caveat. According to the article, the Qualcomm version of the Flip 7 will only be available for North American models. Elsewhere, the clamshell phone will feature the Exynos 2500 SoC. Previous rumors have claimed that the Z Flip 7 would feature either an Exynos 2500 chip or a custom Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, contradictorily. In recent years, Samsung has struggled with the yield (how many chips it can produce) when it comes to producing its own Exynos processors. It's obvious the company wants to return to its own chips, especially as Qualcomm's silicon gets more expensive. However, every cycle has the same rumors. There was speculation that the Galaxy S25 would run on the Exynos 2500, and recently, there are rumors that the Galaxy S26 series could run on Exynos 2600 chips in some regions. As for the bigger book-style Z Fold 7, that phone is reportedly going to feature the Snapdragon Elite 8 globally. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. We'll know more for sure come July, when we expect Samsung to hold its annual summer Galaxy Unpacked, where the two foldable phones will debut alongside wearable devices like the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 vs Z Fold 7: Major differences we expect to see
Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip 7 has allegedly been spotted again in synthetic benchmarks. This time, the device was reportedly seen in a Geekbench listing spotted by tipster Abhishek Yadav on X. The listing reveals a Samsung device featuring the Exynos 2500 chip. It scored a single-core score of 2012 and a multi-core score of 7563. The Geekbench listing also reveals CPU details, with one core at 3.3 GHz, two cores at 2.75 GHz, five cores at 2.36 GHz, and two cores at 1.8 GHz, making for a deca-core processor. The RAM is listed as 10.68 GB, which could mean 12 GB of RAM will be present, along with Android 16. If this does turn out to be true, it would make for an interesting comparison to the Z Fold 7, which is expected to be the other foldable launched this year by Samsung, and is anticipated to be a traditional-style foldable, instead of a clamshell-style foldable like the Z Flip 7. If the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 does debut with the Exynos 2500 or 2400, it would be a big difference compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which is reportedly expected to ship with the Snapdragon 8 Elite, the current Qualcomm flagship. Moreover, it could feature Samsung's tuning and be a custom Snapdragon for Galaxy chipset, similar to what other Galaxy models this year, including the S25 Ultra, are expected to pack. However, based on the benchmark scores, the phone may not be as powerful as the Z Fold 7. Another set of differences could be the presence of a telephoto camera with the Z Fold 7. Samsung has not included a telephoto camera in its clamshell-style foldables yet, and the renders that have leaked so far do reveal that the Z Flip 7 may continue to ship with a dual-camera setup, one of which could be a wide camera and the other an ultra-wide shooter. It is also being hinted that the Z Fold 7 could double down on being thin, so that is something Samsung could be aiming for. Having said that, Samsung could always revert to its previous strategy and launch the device with region-specific hardware, meaning the Exynos 2500 for some regions and the Snapdragon 8 Elite for others, as has also been hinted in reports. Therefore, this is worth keeping in mind. Both the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 are reportedly expected to launch in the month of July at Samsung Galaxy Unpacked. However, there has been no official word from Samsung, so this information should be taken with a pinch of salt. However, what is interesting is that over the past few years, Samsung has indeed launched its new foldables in July or August, so it wouldn't be out of the ordinary to expect the new foldables to hit the market in July or August this year too.

The Galaxy Z Flip 7 might have an Exynos variant, but don't panic just yet
Samsung is tipped to launch the Galaxy Z Flip 7 in the coming months, and we've got a rough idea of what to expect. However, the choice of chipset seems to be one murky detail. Now, another report has muddied these waters. Korean outlet Hangkyung reports that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will actually be available with both an Exynos 2500 chip and a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. However, there is good news if you're in Europe, India, or the US. The publication explains that the Exynos-powered foldable phone will be restricted to Korea: According to industry sources on the 27th, Samsung Electronics will apply the Exynos 2500, an AP [application processor — ed] designed by the System LSI Division, to the domestic version of the Galaxy Z Flip 7. Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite will be used for the Z Flip 7's release in other regions, including North America. This would be positive news if confirmed, as the Snapdragon 8 Elite is expected to be significantly better than the Exynos 2500 on the CPU front. Our own testing shows that the Snapdragon chip outperforms the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 in CPU-bound tests, although MediaTek's chip is more than a match in GPU tests. Nevertheless, a powerful CPU should result in a more responsive overall experience, faster app loading times, and improved performance in demanding scenarios like running a desktop mode. But there's a strong argument that modern high-end phones offer more than enough horsepower for the vast majority of users anyway.

Galaxy Z Flip7's Exynos 2500 chipset gets benchmarked, here are the results
Samsung is now rumored to be using the delayed Exynos 2500 chipset for the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip7 smartphone. And a benchmark run of a prototype, bearing the model number SM-F766U, has been spotted in the Geekbench database. That's interesting since that model number belongs to the version headed to the US, so it seems very likely that the Flip7 will use the Exynos 2500 all over the world. The benchmark gives us an idea of what to expect, performance-wise, from the SoC that was meant to be in the Galaxy S25 family but ended up being replaced with the Snapdragon 8 Elite due to yield issues. Let's just outright say it: it's definitely not up there with the Snapdragon 8 Elite. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 SM-F766U with Exynos 2500 runs on Exynos 25001 Core @ 3.30 GHz2 Cores @ 2.75 GHz5 Cores @ 2.36 GHz2 Cores @ 1.80 GHz🎮 Samsung Xclipse 950 GPU🍭 Android 16- 12GB RAMScoresSingle-core: 2012 Multi-core: 7563… — Abhishek Yadav (@yabhishekhd) May 26, 2025 The Flip7 prototype managed a 2,012 single-core score and a 7,563 multi-core score, which is more in line with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 than its successor. And when we take a look at the CPU configuration, it starts to make sense - this chip has a ten-core CPU, with one Cortex-X925 core clocked at up to 3.3 GHz, two Cortex-A725 cores clocked at up to 2.75 GHz, five Cortex-A725 cores clocked at up to 2.36 GHz, and two Cortex-A520 cores clocked at up to 1.8 GHz. The clocks are much lower on this chip than on its competitors from Qualcomm, MediaTek, and even Xiaomi. We're not sure whether that's a specific setup for this device, given how it's a foldable and won't be great at heat dissipation, or if this is the standard Exynos 2500 configuration. Anyway, the Flip7 will launch running Android 16 with One UI 8 on top, and will have 12GB of RAM, according to the Geekbench database. It's expected to be introduced in early July alongside the Galaxy Z Fold7.
