Turkey's AJet to start flights to Syria's Damascus

Turkish Airlines subsidiary AJet said it will start flights to Damascus International from Istanbul and Ankara airports in mid-June. AJet said in a statement that flights from Istanbul's Sabiha Gokcen airport will begin from June 16. Flights will initially take place four times per week before operating daily from July, it added. Flights to Damascus from the Turkish capital Ankara will start from June 17, three-times per week, the carrier also said. Turkish Airlines resumed flights to Damascus in January after a 13-year suspension. Turkey, a close ally of the new government in Damascus, has pledged to support the country's reconstruction. Ankara has already helped with the improvement and maintenance of Syria's airports, the Turkish transport minister has said. Turkey's capital market board sets reserve audit standards for crypto asset platforms

ISTANBUL: Turkey's capital markets board released rules for proof of reserve audit standards that crypto asset platforms have to meet to apply for operational licences in Turkey. According to the board's statement, published late on Thursday, these audits must be conducted by independent information systems audit firms every quarter. Audit reports will include detailed lists of crypto currencies, their current value for customers, the networks they are stored on, storage models, access controls, wallet addresses as well as the platform's own crypto and cash reserves, the board said. The auditor will take information to compare customer assets with distributed ledger network assets, the board said. If the total reserve protection ratio is found to be below 100%, this must be immediately reported to the capital markets authority. In March, the board introduced capital and capital adequacy ratio standards for crypto asset service providers and custody institutions in Turkey. Last year, Turkey passed regulations for crypto asset platforms setting rules on their responsibilities to customers, security standards and how they operate within the country. Turkish lira drops more than 2% to new low after Erdogan rival detained

ISTANBUL - Turkey's lira fell more than 2% and touched a new all-time low of 37.5 to the dollar on Wednesday after authorities detained President Tayyip Erdogan's main political rival on charges including corruption and aiding a terrorist group. The lira drop was the biggest daily move since April last year. The currency traded at 37 to the dollar at 0724 GMT, weaker than its close of 36.67 on Tuesday but slightly firmer than the record low it hit earlier on Wednesday morning. Borsa Istanbul said trading was halted temporarily after the main BIST 100 index fell 6.87% in early trading and the market-wide circuit breaker was triggered. Regular trading will be resumed at 0730 GMT, it added. Also, the uptick rule on short sale transactions for the BIST 50 index will be used on Wednesday, Borsa Istanbul also said.
