Ford's latest recall for its 2025 Super Duty lineup is the kind that demands immediate, physical intervention – and the company isn't taking any chances. A 'Do Not Drive' advisory has been issued, marking the severity of the situation. The issue? A potentially missing component that's critical to how the brake system works. While the population is rather small, the risk is high. According to the recall documents published by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the issue stems from a brake pedal assembly that may have been assembled without a crucial retaining spring, which secures the brake booster pushrod to the brake pedal. If it's missing, the pushrod can detach, rendering the brake pedal useless and could lead to a complete loss of braking function. The problem was first flagged in late May 2025 by a technician who discovered a freely swinging brake pedal during a pre-delivery inspection. A subsequent internal review linked the problem to an assembly line worker who was still in training. Unfortunately, poor or missing camera footage during this period made it difficult for Ford to confirm whether the retaining spring was properly installed on other units built during that time. The remedy is straightforward: dealers have been instructed to inspect the brake pedal assembly and, if necessary, install the missing components, free of charge. The Blue Oval company has already started sending out notification letters, and owners can already check their VINs to confirm if their Super Duty truck is affected. Ford stresses that no accidents or injuries have been reported so far. 'Do Not Drive:' Ford Issues a Recall for Super Duty Trucks With Bad Brake Pedals
Ford is warning 2025 Super Duty owners not to drive their pickups. They might have a brake pedal assembly that lacks a retaining spring that's designed to secure the brake booster pushrod to the brake pedal, which can result in the loss of braking power. The recall affects just 2,345 2025 Ford Super Duty trucks, ranging from the F-250 to the F-550. The automaker began investigating the problem in late May after team members at the Kentucky Truck Plant notified Ford's Critical Concern Review Group (CCRG) of a missing brake pedal retaining spring on a 2025 F-350. Photo by: Ford After that, Ford's CCRG reviewed a May 5 report of a service technician having no braking force during a pre-delivery inspection of a Super Duty, with the brake pedal 'swinging freely,' according to the Safety Recall Report . Ford then received a warranty report in early June of another F-350 with a missing spring that a tech found during its inspection. The CCRG, through its investigation, learned that an operator new to the job and still in training had built both trucks with the missing retaining spring. It also found that the camera system designed to monitor production was down during certain periods, so Ford is also recalling those vehicles without sufficient visual evidence that they were correctly built. Ford says it has already begun notifying affected owners. The automaker says it'll instruct them to work with their dealer to complete the inspection, as the automaker does not want owners driving their vehicles. Caltrans to conduct emergency guardrail repairs on NB I5 near California Aqueduct
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Caltrans is scheduled to conduct emergency guardrail repair on northbound Interstate 5 near the California Aqueduct Friday afternoon. According to Caltrans officials, crews are scheduled to block two lanes of northbound Interstate 5 for the repairs. This may impact traffic. The repair work is scheduled to last several hours, according to Caltrans. Officials with the highway patrol told 17 News the repairs are due to an overnight crash when a F250 truck with a car hauler struck the guardrail. No one was injured in the crash.
