FC Volendam take Sparta Rotterdam's Ideho on loan

As per Voetbal International, FC Volendam have signed Joel Ideho on loan from Sparta Rotterdam. Although there is no option to buy, the 22-year-old Ideho looks set to provide the newly promoted club with a much-needed attacking reinforcement. The winger joined Sparta at the beginning of this year from ADO Den Haag, where he previously scored eight goals in 46 appearances. So far at Het Kasteel, he hasn't yet become a regular, so a loan move was the obvious choice for game time for the former Arsenal academy man. FC Volendam kicked off the season last week with a strong 1-1 draw at SC Heerenveen. Rick Kruys' team will face AZ Alkmaar on home soil on Sunday. GBeNeFN | Max Bradfield

Major setback for Heerenveen and Smans due to serious knee injury

SC Heerenveen have lost Levi Smans for an extended period due to a serious knee injury, the club announced on Tuesday morning. Smans had to be withdrawn early in the second half as his side drew 1-1 with FC Volendam. Following a challenge from Alex Plat, the 22-year-old midfielder fell awkwardly and has now sustained an injury to his left knee that will reportedly keep him sidelined for months. The club wish Smans 'much strength and a speedy recovery' after this rough start to the 2025/26 Eredivisie campaign. Last season, Smans developed into an undisputed starter at SC Heerenveen. The attacking midfielder ultimately made 33 league appearances in his debut season with the club after joining from VVV-Venlo. He scored three goals and provided four assists, and even attracted interest from EFL clubs in England. This term looked to be off to a good start too, as he assisted Luuk Brouwers' fourth-minute goal before Volendam eventually struck back with Ozan Kokcu just after the hour mark. Raja Signs Bilal Ould-Chikh

Rabat – Raja Athletic Club have officially completed the signing of the winger Bilal Ould-Chikh in a free transfer deal from FC Volendam for two seasons. The Moroccan-Dutch has joined the Casablanca-based club in the summer transfer window, after reportedly giving approval to Egyptian Zamalek SC and rejecting offers from many European and Saudi clubs. 'As part of strengthening the first team in preparation for the new season, the management board of Raja Club Athletic announces the signing of player Bilal Ould-Chikh for two seasons,' Raja announced on X. The 27-year-old made a total of 40 appearances with FC Volendam last season, he scored five goals and provided 20 assists ranking him 3rd in assists across the league. Ould-Chikh had already represented the Netherlands at U15, U17, and U19 levels, before he was invited to represent the U20 Moroccan national team. The move bolsters Raja's offensive options with a player of robust international experience for the upcoming Botola Pro season. Tags: Bilal Ould-Chikhbotola proRaja football

«Too intense to ignore» : Moroccan winger Ould-Chikh opens up about racism in Dutch football

Moroccan winger Bilal Ould-Chikh, who plays for FC Volendam, has opened up about the racism he continues to face from the stands—despite his decisive performances on the pitch. In an interview with cited by Voetbalprimeur, the former Morocco U20 international described the shocking abuse he's endured this season. During an away match against FC Den Bosch, he was reportedly called a «cancerous Muslim». The 27-year-old also spoke of a «feeling of structural exclusion» tied to his origins. For these reasons, he said he is seriously considering relocating to Morocco after his playing career ends. Ould-Chikh recently shone for Volendam in the Eredivisie, playing on Monday night. But in the interview, he emphasized that «it is more important to talk about discrimination», pointing to the repeated incidents that have weighed heavily on him as a player. Just last month, he reported racist behavior from some of his own supporters. While the club issued a statement at the time—saying neither the player nor the team would revisit the matter—Ould-Chikh now insists the experiences are «too intense» to be ignored. «I can't explain why I am approached more aggressively than others, except because of my origin», he said. «I remained polite during the interview. But people need to realize how much I've been a victim of discrimination and racism in recent years». According to him, these incidents «happen everywhere—at ADO Den Haag, at FC Den Bosch…». He recalled scoring the winning goal last season in Emmen, a moment that was marred by a racist remark. «After that, an older man came up to me and said: 'Nice goal, but it's a shame someone like you scored it'».

Mission accomplished: FC Volendam secure promotion back to the Eredivisie at first attempt

Mission accomplished: FC Volendam secure promotion back to the Eredivisie at first attempt It's official, FC Volendam are an Eredivisie club once again. The Palingboeren secured promotion back to the top flight with a 1-0 win over Jong AZ on Monday night. It also extended their remarkable winning run to nine games in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie – their longest streak in 65 years. Advertisement With just four games left in the season and third-placed ADO Den Haag sitting on 63 points, Volendam needed one more victory to reach 76 points and secure a record-breaking eleventh promotion. Spurred on by 750 travelling supporters in Alkmaar, it was midfielder Alex Plat who stepped up, scoring the decisive goal in the 64th minute to seal the win and promotion for Volendam. Rick Kruys' side have showcased their dominance all season in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie, led by the league's most dangerous attacking trio – Henk Veerman (22 goals), Robert Mühren (17) and Bilal Ould-Chikh, who tops the assist charts with 17. With Volendam on the verge of winning the title, second place (the last automatic promotion spot) is still well and truly up for grabs. Excelsior currently occupy that spot on 65 points but ADO Den Haag (63), Dordrecht (62) and Cambuur (61) are all breathing down their neck. It's all to play for heading into the final four games of the season. GBeNeFN | Jonas Fielding
