Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation rolls out AC e-bus service on 11 KIA routes

Bengaluru: The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) is rolling out 85 fully electric air-conditioned buses across 11 airport routes starting Thursday, enhancing connectivity to Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) from key points such as HAL Main Gate, Banashankari, Kadugodi, HSR Layout, Kempegowda Bus Terminus (Majestic), and other locations. According to BMTC officials, the 12-metre-long buses, with a floor height of 400mm, are powered by a 283 kWh battery that allows up to 225km of operation per day. They will be operated from four depots —Majestic, Katriguppe, ITPL and HSR Layout, with "opportunity charging" (quick charge during short stops) facilities made available at Central Silk Board bus stand, Kadugodi bus stand, KIA, and Majestic. BMTC officials revealed each vehicle can travel 150km on a full charge, with an additional 75km possible through opportunity charging. The buses offer a seating capacity of 35 passengers plus one wheelchair space, along with high-back ergonomic seats. Safety features include four saloon cameras, a rear-view camera for reversing, four LED destination boards with voice announcements, 13 panic buttons for women's safety, a fire detection and suppression system (FDSS), USB charging ports (Type A & C) at seat centres, and GPS-based vehicle tracking. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like No annual fees for life UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo You Can Also Check: Bengaluru AQI | Weather in Bengaluru | Bank Holidays in Bengaluru | Public Holidays in Bengaluru | Gold Rates Today in Bengaluru | Silver Rates Today in Bengaluru Currently, BMTC operates 156 Vayu Vajra schedules on 22 routes to KIA, making 1,061 one-way trips daily and covering 50,776 kilometres, serving around 14,000 passengers each day.
