Genesis GV60 Magma Nearly Ready to Join the EV Power Wars
Genesis is dead serious about its Magma sub-brand. The performance division, set to rival heavyweights like Mercedes-AMG and BMW M Performance, made its presence known last year in New York, with the GV60 Magma and GV80 Magma concepts. And to cement its credentials, Genesis will also race at the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship with the GMR-001 Hypercar. But before that happens, the production version of the GV60 Magma will first set foot on the global stage. The go-fast electric crossover has recently been spotted wearing thinner camouflage for the first time, revealing more exciting details ahead of its grand debut. The GV60 Magma prototype that you see here tries hard to hide its bright orange paint, but it's evident on the antenna fin and on the brake calipers. And we can also see features that we can expect to find on the production unit. Off the bat, the polarizing twin lighting fixtures, front and back, are present. The bumpers are more aggressive, too, compared to the standard GV60, plus the spoiler appears to be different, albeit less aggressive than what's found on the concept. We can't comment on the black wheels for now as they seem to be placeholders, but hiding behind them are the bright orange brake calipers to match the body paint. Production specs of the GV60 Magma aren't definite at this point, though insider information reveals that it will have an 800-volt electrical architecture that allows ultra-fast charging. Output, on the other hand, is expected to go over 700 horsepower, which should be more than what its Hyundai twin, the brilliant Ioniq 5 N, produces. In terms of battery, sources say that the GV60 will be equipped with an 84 kWh battery pack that's good for 278 miles based on the more forgiving WLTC standard. This figure will, of course, go down if the GV60 reaches the US and goes through EPA testing. Genesis hasn't announced a specific date for the GV60 Magma's grand debut. However, reports point us to a launch later in the year, just in time for the red-hot performance EV to be offered as a 2026 model year. Given this timeline, we expect to catch the GV60 Magma prototype more while testing on the road, perhaps giving us more information about its much-anticipated electric firepower. All about Stoffel Vandoorne - the Tokyo E-Prix Round 8 winner
Image credit: Stoffel Vandoorne/Instagram Down but not out! That's exactly how Maserati MSG Racing driver Stoffel Vandoorne approached the Tokyo E-Prix Round 8, starting from 14th on the grid and going on to clinch a remarkable victory. It was nothing short of a come-from-behind win for the 33-year-old, who in fact left Nissan's Oliver Rowland—who had started from pole—behind to claim the top spot. Soon after the win, Vandoorne's name was all over social media, with fans eager to know more about the man from Belgium. Stoffel Vandoorne's much-awaited triumph came three years after his last victory, which was at Monaco in 2022. He'll now aim to carry this winning momentum into the Shanghai double-header at the end of this month. Who is Stoffel Vandoorne? Born and raised in Kortrijk, West Flanders, Vandoorne competes in the FIA World Endurance Championship for Peugeot and in Formula E for Maserati. His passion for racing began early—he started karting at the age of 6. His father took him to the World Karts track in Kortrijk, Belgium, where he took his first steps toward the thrilling world of motorsport. Vandoorne had to battle financial hurdles in the early stages of his career. Funding was a constant struggle, but his talent saw him rise through national and international competitions, earning success along the way. He progressed to junior formulae in 2010. His first major success came that same year when he won the F4 Eurocup championship with the FFSA Academy. That win helped him advance to Formula Renault, where he won the Eurocup in 2012. A year later, he finished runner-up in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series in 2013. Also Read: Stoffel Vandoorne on clinching long-awaited Tokyo E-Prix Round 8 victory: 'I'm just super happy our plan paid off' Vandoorne's journey also included a stint in Formula One. He joined the McLaren Young Driver Programme in 2013 and remained part of the setup for several years. His big day came in 2016 when he made his Formula One debut for McLaren at the Bahrain Grand Prix, replacing the injured Fernando Alonso. Impressed by his performance, McLaren signed him as a full-time driver alongside Alonso for the 2017 season. He raced, scored points, earned applause—but was released at the end of 2018. Since then, he has served as a reserve driver for several teams, including McLaren, Mercedes, Racing Point, and Aston Martin. Al Harthy, Valentino, Kelvin secure hard-fought 9th at Spa
Team WRT trio Ahmad al Harthy, Valentino Rossi and Kelvin van der Linde had to be satisfied with a ninth place result during round three of the FIA World Endurance Championship in Belgium on Saturday, in an encounter where the pace of the No.46 BMW M4 was largely maximised. Aiming to mount a podium challenge ahead of the TotalEnergies 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, continuing the momentum from their fabulous second place at Imola in Italy last month, other than a speed-limiter glitch in one of the pit-stops the race went fairly faultlessly. Oman's Al Harthy raced very competitively from ninth on the LMGT3 grid during his two hour-plus stint. Making excellent early gains after a superb start, he ensured the team was in the best position possible as the No.46 car spent a good portion of the first 120 minutes in and around the top three. 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship Following the system glitch at Al Harthy's second stop, an unfortunate drive-through penalty had to be served before Rossi and van der Linde then took the concluding parts of the six-hour race at the famous Ardennes track. Qualifying on Saturday went well for Al Harthy, ending the run seventh fastest and just half a second shy of provisional pole. Progressing the Team WRT entry into the all-important Hyperpole session immediately after, which Rossi contested, the Italian ended up ninth in the top 10 grid shoot-out. Following the team's second stop Al Harthy found himself ninth in LMGT3 and into the third hour he climbed back into the top six and worked hard to undo the damage of the penalty stop before Rossi took over. Battling his way back to the tail of the top six by the end of hour three, when the Safety Car was again required, soon after he moved into second as further pit-stops were made. Spa Francorchamps, Belgium Rossi then pitted and rejoined in seventh, climbing up to third with just a couple of hours remaining as the Safety Car circulated once more. At the next pit visit van der Linde took his first race miles with roughly 90 minutes to go and although moving up from the top 12 to fifth, after a final stop with 40 minutes left the South African was 12th again and had to ultimately settle for ninth position. Round four of the FIA WEC season, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, will be contested over the weekend 14th/15th June at the Circuit de la Sarthe in France. TotalEnergies 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps LMGT3 Race Result: 1st Alessio Rovera / Francois Heriau / Simon Mann (Vista AF Corse / Ferrari 296) 2nd Dennis Olsen / Stefano Gattuso / Gianmarco Levorato (Proton Competition / Ford Mustang) 3rd Davide Rigon / Thomas Flohr / Francesco Castellacci (Vista AF Corse / Ferrari 296) 4th Ben Barker / Bernardo Sousa / Ben Tuck (Proton Competition / Ford Mustang) 5th Mattia Drudi / Ian James / Zacharie Robichon (Heart of Racing Team / Aston Martin Vantage) 9th Ahmad Al Harthy / Valentino Rossi / Kelvin van der Linde (Team WRT / BMW M4)
