Senegal finish fourth at FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, Seychelles 2025
Published: Sunday, 11 May 2025 Senegal's hopes of a bronze medal at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, Seychelles 2025 were dashed when they were beaten 3-2 by Portugal in the third-place play-off at the Paradise Arena in Victoria on Sunday. The African champions end in fourth, their joint best finish after the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Russia in 2021. Senegal led 2-1 into the third period after goals from Ninou Diatta and Sidy Fall, but a winner by Andre Lourenco with a little over two minutes remaning on the clock secured the win for Portugal. In the final of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, Seychelles 2025, Brazil edged Belarus 4-3 to retain the title they won last year.

Senegal lose FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, Seychelles 2025 semi-final to Belarus
Published: Saturday, 10 May 2025 Senegal's hopes of a first ever FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup final came to an end on Saturday as they were defeated 5-2 by Belarus in the last-4 at the Paradise Arena on Victoria. The African champions battled hard but came up against an in-form opponent, who have been in superb form in the tournament so far. Belarus will face defending champions Brazil in the decider after the latter defeated Portugal 4-2 in the other semi-final. Mikhail Avgustov opened the scoring for Belarus, but Sidy Fall equalised for Senegal. The European side took charge of the contest in the second period as they scored three times, two goals for Ihar Bryshtsel and another by Aleh Hapon. Mamour Diagne brought the score to 4-2 in the third period to give Senegal hope, but when Vadzim Bokach netted a fifth for Belarus, the game was over as a contest. Senegal will be involved in the third-place play-off on Sunday as they seek to improve on their fourth-place finish in Russia in 2021.

Senegal steam into FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, Seychelles 2025™ semi-finals
Senegal are through to the semi-finals of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, Seychelles 2025™ after a last-second 4-3 extra-time victory over Italy in a thrilling clash at the Paradise Arena in Victoria on Thursday. Senegal will face Belarus in the last-4 on Saturday as they seek to reach the final of the global showpiece competition for the first time. Their previous best finish is fourth place in 2021. Their clash with Italy was an epic seesaw contest that swung one way and then the next. Mamour Diagne put Senegal ahead, but the contest swing Italy's way in the second period as they scored goals through Tommaso FazzinI, Emmanuele Zurlo and Camillo Marchesi. A strike from Sanou Laye Thiaw kept Senegal in the contest, but they trailed 2-3 going into the final period. Ousseynou Faye sent the game into extra-time when he found an equaliser, and with just two seconds on the clock before penalties, Diagne bagged his second to send Senegal into the semi-finals and spark scenes of celebration. The crowd at the Paradise Arena was behind the African side and cheered every goal as if the hosts Seychelles had scored it. Belarus edged Iran 4-3 to book their semi-final place as Ihar Bryshtsel netted a brace. They will be a formidable opponent for the Senegalese. Portugal scraped past Japan 7-6 in one of the all-time classic FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup™ games. Portugal led six times in the game but on the first five occasions Japan hit back to equalise. On the sixth, they ran out of time. Portugal will face defending champions Brazil in then semi-finals after the latter demolished Spain 6-0.

Senegal book quarter-final with Italy at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, Seychelles 2025™
Senegal have booked a FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, Seychelles 2025™ quarter-final with Italy after finishing top of Group C with a resounding 7-3 victory over Chile at the Paradise Arena in Victoria on Tuesday. Senegal took a full haul of nine points from their three games, scoring 17 goals in the process and conceding seven, and will face Group D runners-up Italy in the next stage. Italy were beaten finalists at the last edition of the global finals in 2024. Should Senegal advance past the Italians, they will face the winner of the tie between Belarus and Iran in the semi-finals. The remainder of the quarter-final line-up sees Portugal take on Japan and defending champions Brazil meet Spain. Mandione Diagne, Sidy Fall and Ninou Diatta all scored twice for Senegal to go with a goal by Sanou Thiaw in their comfortable victory. It is the sixth time in 10 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cups™ that Senegal have reached the quarter-finals, with their best finish fourth place in Russia in 2021. It is the first time they have won three games at a global finals as well. In other matches on Tuesday, defending champions Brazil defeated Oman 11-1 as Catarino scored a hat-trick to go with goals for Brendo (2), Benjamin Jr (2), Edson Hulk, Rodrigo, Thanger and Brendo. Italy defeated El Salvador 5-0 with a rare shutout win at a FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup™. It is in fact the joint fifth biggest shut-out victory in the history of the competition, but well short of the 0-0 win for Senegal against Ecuador in 2017. Spain defeated Tahiti 7-4 in the final match of the day.

Seychelles and Mauritania bow out of FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, Seychelles 2025™
Published: Monday, 05 May 2025 Seychelles and Mauritania played their final games at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, Seychelles 2025™ on Monday as they ended their pool play winless, but there was some cause for celebration for the hosts. Seychelles lost 10-2 to Japan in Group A at the Paradise Arena, while Mauritania were beaten 9-5 by Paraguay and also finish bottom of Group B. There were many positives for Seychelles from the tournament, not least from Lienal Bibi, who became the third-youngest goalscorer in FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup™ history when he drew his side level at 1-1 against Japan. Bibi is 16 years, 259 days, behind only South Africa's Ricardo Francisco (16 years, 130 days) and Nigeria's Azeez Abu (15 years, 170 days) as the youngest ever scorer at the global finals. In fact, the top six youngest scorers at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup™ are all from Africa. Teenager Bibi added a second to level again for Seychelles at 2-2, but Japan proved too strong in the second and third periods to pull away on the scoreboard. Cheikh Belkheir scored a hat-trick for Mauritania to go with goals from Ahmedou Bilal and Mohamed Diallo as they gave Paraguay a scare in a thrilling contest. The game was level at 4-4 into the third period, before the South Americans took control of the game and finished the stronger. Both teams had already been eliminated before kick-off. Belarus defeated Guatemala 12-3 in their Group A clash earlier on Monday for the joint fourth biggest ever win at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup™. It is behind the all-time biggest win when Portugal defeated Solomon Islands 14-2 in 2006. Ihar Bryshtsel and Anatoliy Ryabko scored four goals each for Belarus, with the latter managing three bicycle-kicks in the process. Belarus top Group A and advance to the quarter-finals with second-placed Japan. Portugal edged Iran to top spot in Group B with a 7-5 win in the final game on Monday. Belarus play Iran in the knock-out rounds, while Portugal will meet Japan.
