Posco Future M, China's CNGR team up for global ESS push
Posco Future M has teamed up with China's CNGR to produce cathode materials for lithium iron phosphate batteries, initially targeting the fast-growing global energy storage systems market. According to Posco Future M on Monday, Yoon Tae-il, head of its energy materials business division; CNGR Vice Chairman Zhu Zongyuan; and Li Bin, CEO of FINO, CNGR's South Korean subsidiary, signed a memorandum of understanding Friday in Seoul. Under the agreement, the three companies will collaborate to establish production facilities and carry out promotional activities for LFP cathode materials. CNP New Material Technology — a joint venture in which CNGR holds a 51 percent stake, FINO 29 percent and Posco Future M 20 percent — will lead the project. Established in 2024, the partnership began with the goal of producing precursors, intermediate materials used in manufacturing battery cathodes. It is currently building a precursor production facility in Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province, with mass production slated for 2026. Industry watchers expect CNP New Material Technology's LFP cathode materials to be aimed at the European market, given regulatory hurdles in the top two markets — the US and China. China, the world's largest ESS market, is already facing intensifying price competition among domestic players, while North America — the second-largest market — is working to limit Chinese influence in its clean energy sector. According to market tracker SNE Research, as of 2023, China and North America accounted for 45 percent and 30 percent of global ESS demand, respectively, followed by Europe at 12 percent. An official from Posco Future M said, 'As we are currently at the MOU stage, it is premature to confirm any details.'

Yuvraj Singh on entering the spirits market with premium Tequila brand, FINO, 'I've developed a deep appreciation for premium Tequila'
'Over the years, I've developed a deep appreciation for premium Tequila,' says cricketer Yuvraj Singh. The 43-year-old has entered the spirits market in India with the premium Tequila brand, FINO. The brand made its debut in the United States in February 2025, and is now available in select outlets in the country. FINO means fine in Spanish and also stands for 'failure is not an option'. It comes in varieties such as blanco, reposado, anejo and rosado. The spirit is made and bottled in the highlands of Jalisco in Mexico, the birthplace of Tequila. The brand's story started with friendship. Yuvraj and co-founder Paroon Chadha have been friends for a decade, and their relationship goes beyond business. 'I've known Paroon for many years—he stood by me during some of my most challenging times, and our friendship has been built on mutual respect and shared values. Through Paroon, I was introduced to Vikram (Kumar, co-founder), and the brand FINO,' he says. Tasting notes Paroon explains how FINO is luxury sipping Tequila. The spirit was created after extended research and development of four years. The flavour profiles are designed to suit US as well as Indian markets. The Tequila is harvested, fermented and distilled in Mexico. It is then stored and aged in barrels. Vikram says the reposado, for instance has an Indian flavour profile. Indian spices are infused in the barrel linings to give the Tequila the profile. The Tequila is made from 100% blue agave and is additive free. FINO is made in Jalisco, close to the town of Tequila. These highlands boast mineral rich red soil that gives the blue weber agave plant its distinct taste. Vikram says, 'The agave is slow roasted in brick ovens for 72 hours for the deep authentic profile.' The barrel that the spirts are aged in give it its unique taste. The Blanco is crisp and herbaceous, has notes of vanilla, mint and cinnamon. The reposado is rich and layered and has the subtle taste of Indian spices. It is aged for eight to 12 months. The anejo, which is the aged Tequila, is two-and-a-half years old. It has notes of melon and tobacco. A unique offering from the brand is a rosado variant. Rosado means pink in Spanish. It is a rosé-inspired spirt that has a blush pink hue. The barrels are infused with red berry notes, and the spirit has soft floral undertones. Paroon adds, 'The rosado is aimed at red wine lovers.' 'What ultimately convinced me to join FINO was how perfectly the brand aligns with my personal philosophy about resilience and determination,' Yuvraj says, adding 'Just as I've faced significant challenges throughout my journey, pushing through obstacles with unwavering commitment, FINO celebrates that same unstoppable spirit.' FINO Tequila is available in select outlets in duty free shops. Prices start at ₹13,900 for the Blanco
