Quadeca Sets Sail on His Most Ambitious Album Yet: 'Vanisher, Horizon Scraper'
Summary
Quadecahas just released his new albumVanisher, Horizon Scraper— his fifth studio record and most expansive project to date. Dropping via his independent label X8 Music, the 14-track opus arrives alongside a full-length album film, marking a bold new chapter in the artist-producer-filmmaker's evolution.
The rollout began earlier this year with 'GODSTAINED,' a genre-blurring cut that dives into Quadeca's complex relationship with religion and identity. Built on bossa nova rhythms and layered with woodwinds, ambient textures and chaotic orchestral flourishes, the track reflects the lasting imprint of a 'God-stain' on his worldview. He followed with 'MONDAY,' a sweeping chamber-pop ballad that uses the motif of a new week to reflect on cycles, grief and emotional inertia. Most recently, he unveiled 'FORGONE,' the project's emotional centerpiece. Nearly eight minutes long, it unfolds like a cinematic elegy — meditating on memory, time and irreversible loss. Each single, sonically distinct yet emotionally charged, offered a glimpse into the raw, genre-defying world Quadeca was building.
To fully realize that world, Quadeca directed and premiered a visual film of the same name, debuting at sold-out screenings in New York and Los Angeles. Shot on the volcanic island of Camiguin in the Philippines, the film expands on the album's mythic sailor narrative, threading together surreal visuals of stormy seas, golden fields and solitary voyages — all soundtracked by live musical performances.
The album itself tells a modern folklore: a man sets sail in search of freedom, only to drift into obsession and destruction. As the world around him unravels through natural disasters and mythic forces, he grapples with memory, mortality and meaning before vanishing into the sea. The music mirrors this narrative arc, blending orchestral sweeps, gospel choirs, ambient noise and explosive climaxes. Guest appearances include long-time collaboratorDanny Brownand UK experimental rock groupMaruja.
Vanisher, Horizon Scraper follows 2022'sI Didn't Mean To Haunt Youand 2024's acclaimedSCRAPYARDmixtape — two projects that cemented Quadeca as one of the most visionary and unpredictable voices in contemporary music. With this latest release, he doubles down on self-produced ambition and conceptual storytelling, pushing both craft and emotion to their outer limits.
A 31-date North American and European tour kicks off September 30 in San Francisco, wrapping December 15 in Horizon Scraperis out now. Watch the full film above and stream the album below.
