The Free People Matching Set My Sister Loves Has Become My Go-to Travel Outfit—and I've Worn It 30+ Times

My sister works in fashion and has been filling my closet with stylish pieces for as long as I can remember. She knows I love timeless styles that will last for years to come—and lucky for me, she always hits a home run with trendy yet classic items from brands like Modern Citizen, Daze Denim, and Farm Rio. So, when she gifted me the FP Movement Hot Shot Crossover Set last Christmas, I knew it would become a regular in my rotation. In fact, she loved hers so much that she bought me an identical set, which we have somehow managed not to wear at the same time on trips. When I say I've been wearing this set at least once a week for the past eight months, I'm not exaggerating. My 5-year-old has even called me out for wearing it so often. But it's that comfortable, flattering, and stylish—I can't resist. Honestly, if I could wear it every day, I would. It's been my travel go-to on trips from coast to coast all year long. I guess I never truly understood the power of the perfect matching set—until I found mine. I've been a Free People devotee since the early aughts, so I'm not surprised its matching set is now an absolute must-have. As a busy mom and travel editor, my main requirement for my day-to-day wardrobe is that it must be comfortable—but also something that looks presentable and makes me feel confident. The Hot Shot Crossover Set hits all three marks and then some. First and foremost, it's effortlessly comfortable. While I tend to prefer oversized clothes with flexibility and room to breathe, I can't get enough of the fitted cropped tee—it's perfectly snug while being ultra-comfy. The crossover cut is super flattering without showing too much midsection. In fact, since I'm 5-foot-1, the top doesn't appear cropped on me at all, compared to the models on the product page. Plus, the rolled sleeves offer the benefits of a tank while providing a bit more shoulder coverage, which is important if you spend a lot of time outdoors. As an elder millennial who's forever scarred by years spent in restrictive skinny jeans, I probably love the wide-leg, ankle-length pants the most. They're comfy and relaxed without being too baggy, and if you're petite, you'll appreciate the elasticated ankle cuffs that prevent the pants from dragging on the ground. They even offer discreet tummy control with an extra-wide, high waistband that hits just above the belly button. These pants even come with the most underrated fashion feature: deep pockets for when you need to stash your phone, cards, or travel accessories in a pinch. Beyond comfort, the Hot Shot Crossover Set is also super versatile, making it the perfect outfit for long travel days, day-to-day errands, and lounging at home. I've worn the set in just about every scenario, from SFO Airport to weekend brunch. And while it works for most everyday agendas, it truly excels as a reliable travel outfit. The set is ideal for long flights when you don't want too-tight pants digging into your stomach for hours. Then it seamlessly transitions from the plane to sightseeing, shopping, hiking, and more. It was my go-to outfit in Palm Springs and Joshua Tree National Park when I wanted to wear something comfy and lightweight yet polished while exploring. I've worn it over a bathing suit while kayaking, to a summer music festival, while shopping in San Francisco, on road trips to Tennessee, and on flights across the country and back. Plus, the pieces can be mixed and matched for even more wearability. If there's anything that makes it into my suitcase for every trip, it's this matching set. The FP Movement Hot Shot Crossover Set kept me comfy and cool while exploring Pioneertown in the California desert. I haven't even gotten to the best part: the nonstop compliments I get every time I wear this set. Friends, strangers, and even flight attendants have asked where it's from. It's become such a staple in my travel wardrobe that I'm already eyeing a few more colors (there are 18 total!). Turns out, I'm not the only one who's obsessed. One shopper shared, 'I have this one in five colors and I use them always! It is my favorite airport outfit.' Another said, 'I saw this set on someone at the airport and had to have it!!! It's so flattering!!!' The overall consensus? We all need the set in at least one more color—maybe two. Just a heads-up: some shades and sizes tend to sell out fast once they're restocked, so don't wait too long to grab your favorite. My sister wears the FP Movement Hot Shot Crossover Set just as much as I do. Looking for even more one-and-done travel outfits? I found a handful of stylish matching sets at Amazon—and they're all under $40. Love a great deal? Registration for Miami Marathon & Half opens Friday

If you're dreaming of running through the heart of Miami surrounded by ocean views and cheering crowds in one of the nation's premier distance races, the clock is ticking. Registration for the 2026 Life Time Miami Marathon & Half presented by FP Movement opens Friday — and with demand growing every year, organizers say another rapid sellout is all but guaranteed. Only 18,500 spots are available, and they're expected to disappear quickly for the fifth consecutive year. In fact, the race has been filling up faster and faster. Registration for the 2025 edition closed on Aug. 29 of last year — two weeks earlier than the previous record sellout date for the 2024 race, and a full seven weeks ahead of 2023's pace. Last year's wait list swelled to more than 10,000 runners hoping for a last-minute chance to compete in this defining event on South Florida's calendar. The 2026 iteration — the 24th annual — will take place Sunday, Jan. 25. 'It's the hottest ticket in town,' said race co-founder and Life Time chief running officer Frankie Ruiz. 'Runners throughout the world have the Life Time Miami Marathon on their calendar. We are honored and thrilled with the enthusiasm that we see from runners who come back year-to-year to experience the special thrill of running Miami.' As usual, Life Time Miami Marathon & Half will feature a flat, fast, USTAF-certified course that winds through Downtown Miami, Miami Beach and Coconut Grove. It's also a Boston Marathon qualifier and considered one of the country's most scenic and well-run distance events. Participants will again include runners from all 50 states and nearly 70 countries. Those unable to snag a spot on registration day can add their name to a wait list, though that hasn't guaranteed entry in recent years. Along with the main event, the Life Time Tropical 5K is also set to return the day before — Saturday, Jan. 24. The shorter race offers runners a warm-up with tropical vibes, beginning on Watson Island and finishing at the southern tip of South Beach. It's also a favorite among friends and family who want to join the festivities without tackling a longer distance. Registration for the 5K opens the same day as the marathon and half. The Miami Marathon & Half is part of a portfolio of more than 30 endurance events organized by LifeTime, the health and wellness company that also produces the Chicago Half Marathon, UNBOUND Gravel, and the Leadville Race Series. Life Time operates more than 180 athletic country clubs across the U.S. and Canada, including several in South Florida. 'The unique culture and diversity of Miami brings such a special layer to the race experience that Life Time is proud to offer athletes from all over the globe,' said Samantha Bailey, senior marketing manager for Life Time Athletic Events. 'It truly is a one-of-a-kind experience.' In the 2025 races, Paul Eyanae from Kenya won the marathon with a time of 2:20:00, while Beth Marzigliano from Naples claimed the women's title in 3:03:42. In the Half Marathon, Solomon Kagimbi from Kenya became Miami's first two-time men's winner with a time of 1:04:27, while Nell Rojas from Boulder, Colo., matched the women's course record at 1:13:53. Whether you're a first-timer or a seasoned racer chasing a personal best, don't wait too long to commit. The race has become a signature South Florida experience — and those who delay might find themselves cheering from the sidelines.

My Holy Grail Hiking Pants Are Cool on the Trails Yet Comfy Enough to Wear Every Day—and They're Under $100

There aren't many pieces in my closet I'd trust to survive both a harness and hollandaise sauce, but the FP Movement Champ Is Here Pants have done just that. Equal parts rugged and relaxed, these pants have carried me through sandstone slot canyons in Utah, red-eye flights across the country, and countless lazy brunches, and somehow still manage to elicit compliments e very single time I wear them. They're technical enough to adventure in, comfy enough to nap in, and stylish enough to pass for streetwear—basically, they're the holy grail of adventure pants. My love affair with these capris first started on a canyoneering trip in Utah, where I was gifted the pants to test out on the trails. I'll admit—I'm somewhat of an outdoor gear snob as I spend most of my free time outside and need my gear to hold up. That said, my first impression of these pants was… not great. Sure, they were super cute and incredibly comfortable, but I couldn't envision the featherlight material holding up against the rough, sandstone walls we were expected to rappel down. Boy, was I wrong… The FP Movement pants are made from a durable ripstop nylon that somehow manages to feel weightless and buttery against the skin while still holding up to serious abrasion. I scraped, scooted, and squeezed my way through narrow canyon walls, and they never tore once. The elastic paperbag waistband stays in place without being restrictive, while the cropped, slightly baggy silhouette keeps them breathable and easy to move in. They're also incredibly quick-drying, which came in clutch after getting soaked in a deep, cold pool at the bottom of a slot canyon. Since that trip, I've worn them weekly and, no exaggeration, get asked about them every time I put them on. Just last week, on a visit to Lake Placid, New York, my friends and I took a stroll around Mirror Lake, and of course, I wore these magical pants. Almost immediately, my friends complimented them and proceeded to each buy a pair themselves. For as technical and comfy as the Champ Is Here pants are, they're also downright cute. They come in a lineup of earthy, outdoorsy tones (mine are a muted olive green, but I'm eyeing the dusty rose next), and somehow look just as stylish with trail runners and a tank as they do with a cropped tee and Birks for coffee runs. The color-blocked piping and athletic stripes give them a vintage edge, too, and elongate the legs rather than cut them off, something capris are notorious for. If you're someone who wants performance gear that doesn't look like performance gear, these pants check all the boxes, and then some. Trust me—the FP Movement Champ Is Here Pants are worth every penny. But if you're not keen on shelling out nearly $100 for a single article of clothing, these hiking pants from Amazon are great, too. With a relaxed, streetwear-inspired silhouette and UPF 50+ protection, these lightweight hiking pants look great on the trail. The water-resistant fabric keeps you dry during unexpected drizzles, while the roomy cargo pockets (there are six!) and adjustable hems give you a functional fit, whether you're scrambling over boulders or over crowds at brunch. If you like the cropped length of the FP Movement Champ Is Here Pants, check out these rugged capris. They're a bit shorter than the original pants but have the same core features: a drawstring waist, deep pockets, quick-drying fabric, and a baggy silhouette. For $25, they're a steal. If you like the feel of lightweight athleisure fabric but need something more rugged, these Ksmien capris are a great pick. Made from a quick-drying nylon-spandex blend, they're stretchy, durable, and move with you. They also come in a versatile palette of earth tones and are stacked with pockets for everything you could possibly bring with you on your adventures. These Mocoly hiking pants have a slightly sportier look about them without the expensive price tag. They're lightweight, moisture-wicking, and perfect for hot-weather hikes; the UPF 50+ fabric protects from the sun's rays, making them perfect for summer getaways. Baleaf consistently nails budget-friendly performance wear, and these capris are no exception. While a touch slimmer than the Champ Is Here Pants, the cropped length, technical details, and colorblocked sealed zipper give them a similar vibe. Bonus: They're mosquito-repellent, so you won't have to worry about bugs. Fitted with a multitude of pockets and a comfortable drawstring waistband, these cargo capris are fit for the trails and the streets—and they're just $30 right now. A breathable blend of polyester and spandex is both sweat-wicking and quick-drying, plus the capris are designed with UPF 50+ sun protection that offers an additional barrier against harsh summer rays. If you're looking for a sporty pair of capris that show a little more leg, the Libin Women's Capri Pants are the perfect choice since they crop just below the knees and are made from a stretchy, moisture-resistant fabric. Four secure zippered pockets are ideal for storing your trail essentials without worrying they'll fall out, and these hiking pants even come in sizes XS to 3XL. The relaxed fit of the Champ Is Here Pants is one of the most appealing parts of the style, and you can channel that same look with these loose-fitting parachute pants that just went on sale for $20 at Amazon. The elastic waistband and high-waisted cut make these pants both flattering and comfortable, and they are fitted with several deep pockets for trail snacks. Plus, they're water-repellent, so even if you're caught in an unexpected downpour, at least your legs will remain dry. Love a great deal?
