Magakala road and bridge project 100% complete
The Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality (FTLM) continues to improve access and mobility in rural areas. The Magakala Access Road and Bridge Project will soon be handed to the communities. The FTLM's mayor, Eddie Maila, visited the site on May 29 for inspection before its official handover. This project in the FTLM's Ward 39 (Mohlaletsi) is 100% complete. Maila commended the community for working with the municipality and the contractors to ensure that the project is implemented without major hindrances. Before the construction of this road, it was difficult for the community to access essential services such as schools and clinics due to the harsh conditions of the gravel road. Access was especially limited during rainy season as there was no bridge to cross the river. Maila and his team took a walkabout on the four kilometre stretch of the road to assess its condition. He said the completed project will bring much relief to the Magakala community in terms of safer roads and accessibility. Nthabi Tladi, a community member, thanked the mayor and the municipality for implementing the road project, as it was difficult for the residents to conduct their daily business. She said the road is going to change their lives forever. After visiting the Magakala access road, Maila also conducted another inspection at Debeila-Mohlaletsi road. This inspection was done to give the mayor an insight on the challenges raised by the community and other stakeholders on the development of the road project. Maila indicated that the road's completion is long overdue and all the remaining issues must be addressed, so it could be handed over to the community. Fetakgomo Tubatse unveils new vehicle fleet
A fleet of new vehicles was unveiled at the Civic Centre in Burgersfort on May 8, with the aim of improving service delivery to the residents of Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality (FTLM). The mayor, Cllr Eddie Maila, handed over the new waste management vehicles to the municipality's Department of Community Services and a tractor loader backhoe (TLB) to infrastructure development and technical services. The fleet consists of one compactor truck, a refuse waste cage truck and a TLB. The new fleet will be utilised to extend the provision of waste management services to rural areas. This is part of the FTLM's efforts to create a safer and cleaner environment within communities and to mitigate the effects of climate change. Maila applauded management for procuring the new fleet to expand municipal services to far-flung and rural areas. Maila also warned that laziness by municipal workers would not be tolerated. 'We aim to fix all roads in the municipality. Gone are the days when workers will just relax in their offices and do nothing. If trucks are broken, report this matter to the offices so that replacement parts can be purchased. Workers not willing to accelerate services, can leave their posts in peace and they will be replaced by people willing to do the work,' Maila said. 'I believe the FTLM is on the right path to creating better communities. The municipality is eager for the enhancement of service delivery,' he concluded. Maepa road to be completed in August
The Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality's (FTLM) mayor, Eddie Maila, conducted an oversight visit to the Maepa Internal Road Project with his entourage on May 12 and is satisfied with the progress of the 4.5km-long road. The project is at 68% completion and work is anticipated to be finalised by August. Maila appealed to the contractor and the project management unit to stick to the revised programme so that the project can be completed ahead of the scheduled time. Maila also used the opportunity to encourage other villagers to emulate the community of Maepa in their support, allowing the contractor to work without disturbance. 'The co-operation shown is commendable and must be maintained in all the projects that are implemented across the municipality,' said Maila.
