Wolverhampton wins vote to host National Recovery Walk
Wolverhampton has won a public vote to host an event that celebrates people's recovery from year a different place is selected for the National Recovery Walk which includes a public march and a "village" that hosts activities and performances, Wolverhampton City Council annual event will this year be held at West Park on 13 September and will welcome former addicts, their families and council's mayor Craig Collingswood said the initiative provided an opportunity "for people and partners across Wolverhampton" to showcase their commitment to promoting health and wellbeing and supporting those on their recovery journey.
The event is endorsed by human rights advocacy case worker service Faces & Voices of Recovery UK, which campaigns for better access and treatment choices for those seeking help with CEO, Anne Marie Ward, said Wolverhampton's "rich culture and strong recovery community" made it the "perfect backdrop for this year's walk".She added: "We come together as individuals in recovery, families, allies and professionals to celebrate lives reclaimed from addiction and to honour the memory of those we have lost."Recovery Walk 2025 promises to be a family-friendly day with live entertainment and community stalls, the council added.
