Fadnavis draws parallels between Op Sindoor & first column raised by Ahilyabai Holkar
Nashik: At a gathering in Ahilyanagar's Chondi on Saturday, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis drew a comparison between women's involvement in Operation Sindoor — India's response to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 tourists — and the pioneering women's military unit established during Ahilyabai Holkar's reign. During the commencement of Ahilyadevi Holkar's 300th birth anniversary celebrations, Fadnavis said: "Ahilyadevi was the first queen who raised the first column of women soldiers, taking the mantle of defending the Swarajya in their hands. Today, we can see how the women performed in Operation Sindoor at various levels." He added, "Just as Ahilyadevi, known for her military prowess and strategic leadership, started manufacturing weapons indigenously, our country has manufactured Brahmos, used by India to destroy the air bases in Pakistan during the operation." The chief minister shared an anecdote about Ahilyadevi's progressive stance on dowry, where she implemented a ban after encountering a father's difficulty in arranging for his daughter's marriage due to dowry demands. Fadnavis stressed on his govt's commitment to following Ahilyadevi's example of uplifting disadvantaged communities, stating, "Our govt is also committed to the development of the deprived and will ensure the upliftment of each and everybody." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Esse novo alarme com câmera é quase gratuito em Franco Da Rocha (consulte o preço) Alarmes Saiba Mais Undo He talked of Ahilyadevi's water conservation efforts through the construction of stepwells, which continue to serve local communities even today. ‘Devendra Central Jail and Rehabilitation Centre': ‘Saamana' hits out at Fadnavis for ‘will put corrupt in jail' remark
Shiv Sena (UBT) mouthpiece Saamana on Saturday asked Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to name his ministry the 'Devendra Central Jail and Rehabilitation Centre'. 'Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said he will send those who indulge in corruption to jail. His statement is laughable. In the past, he had warned of putting those who indulge in corruption in jail. However, now he is showering praise and petals on the same people daily. The chief minister is making ridiculous statements giving them the honours of being 'Turangshree' and 'Yugpurush',' the editorial in the paper published on Saturday said. The paper said: 'Fadnavis has claimed that Maharashtra was ahead in foreign investment. In reality, Maharashtra is ahead in corruption, atrocities on women and criminalisation of politics.' 'In the ensuing cabinet meeting, minister Chhagan Bhujbal should move a proposal to name the Fadnavis-led ministry as Devendra Central Jail and Rehabilitation Centre…The government should sound the bugle for it,' the paper added. Taking a jibe at the BJP, the paper said: 'We are living in times when people are told to brazenly indulge in corruption and then join the BJP. They will be pardoned for all crimes if they join the BJP.' Pointing out that two Sri Lankan ministers have been jailed for corruption, the paper said: '…in India, instead of sending the corrupt to jail, they are joining the state and central ministries'. The paper said: 'The chief minister recently made the announcement that those who indulge in corruption will be sent to jail. He should actually clarify, which jail? Currently, Fadnavis's cabinet is serving as a jail. And the criminals in the cabinet are occupying lavish bungalows. This is the 'Sindoor' image of Maharashtra's corrupt.'

Ahilyadevi Holkar's legacy must be known to youth: CM
PUNE: Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis emphasised the need to make the younger generation aware of the exemplary governance and legacy of Punyashlok Rajmata Ahilyadevi Holkar, stating that her contributions to Indian history are often overlooked. Fadnavis was speaking at an inspirational event for the youth organised by the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha on the occasion of the 300th birth anniversary of Ahilyadevi Holkar. Fadnavis noted that history often wrongly teaches that India moved from Mughal to British rule without acknowledging the regional rulers who governed during the interim 100 to 125 years. 'Ahilyadevi Holkar ruled for 28 years with great administrative vision wherein the common man was at the centre of governance. She was a queen who led with compassion and efficiency. Many government schemes are now named after her, but her full legacy must be known to the youth,' Fadnavis asserted. The chief minister highlighted that Ahilyadevi Holkar played a critical role in preserving India's cultural and spiritual heritage at a time when foreign invaders were targeting temples and sacred sites. 'She restored temples, rebuilt pilgrimage spots, and ensured that all Jyotirlingas remained intact. Her leadership was marked by economic strength, drought management, fair taxation, and transparent governance,' Fadnavis said. Praising Ahilyadevi Holkar for her efforts towards the empowerment of women, Fadnavis drew parallels to modern initiatives such as 'Operation Sindoor' saying, 'What Ahilyadevi did for empowering women centuries ago echoes today in the work we are doing under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She recognised the need for self-reliance and created job markets by inviting weavers and artisans to Maheshwar,' Fadnavis said. The programme - held at Modern College, Shivajinagar - was attended by higher and technical education minister Chandrakant Patil; Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders Vikrant Patil, Yogesh Tilekar and Hemant Rasane; and many youth and women leaders. On this occasion, a costume competition was organised to honour the queen's legacy, with awards distributed by the chief minister. Women who have made notable contributions to various fields were also felicitated.

State to remove ineligible beneficiaries from Ladki Bahin scheme: CM
1 2 3 Pune: Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday said state govt will remove all undue beneficiaries of the Mukhaymantri Majhi Ladaki Bahin Yojana. Fadnavis was speaking to reporters after a book release event hosted at the Bal Gandharva auditorium on Friday. According to the CM, the state has initiated cross-verification of the scheme beneficiaries as some individuals have taken advantage of the programme despite not being eligible for the dole. Earlier in the day, the state women and child development department had found that at least 2,200 state govt women employees took the financial aid provided by the scheme even when they were not entitled to it. The total misuse of govt funds is estimated at around Rs3.5 crore. In a post on X, state women and child development minister Aditi Tatkare had said, "After scrutinising nearly 2 lakh applications, 2,289 government employees were found to be the beneficiaries of the Mukhyamantri Ladki Bahin Yojana. After realising this, such beneficiaries are being not given the benefit of the scheme." Tatkare also said the government is committed to giving the benefit of the said scheme to all the eligible beneficiaries only and it will continue to scrutinise the applications for this. When asked by reporters about the brouhaha, Fadnavis refuted, "We are periodically reviewing beneficiaries. If anyone is found to have taken undue benefit of this scheme, they are being removed from the list. The assessment is not finished yet. The details will be shared once the inquiry is complete." Ahead of the Nov 2024 state assembly polls, the Mahayuti government in Maharashtra had launched the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana in Aug last year, under which eligible women in the age group of 21-65 years are entitled to a monthly amount of Rs 1,500. Government employees are, however, not eligible for the scheme. Mahayuti leaders have attributed the resounding success of the ruling alliance in the assembly polls to the Ladki Bahin scheme, but admitted that it has put severe strain on the state exchequer. At Friday's event in Pune, Fadnavis released the book 'Khajinyachi Shodhyatra', a book on Indian history written by history scholar Prashant Pol. At the event, Fadnavis remarked that the Indian civilisation has remained intact for centuries. "It is older and more developed than other Western civilisations," he said, adding, "However, some people, including invaders like the British, tried to rewrite history and undermine the rich culture and contribution of Indians. The influence of Indian culture and knowledge is seen in many parts of the world. But in our country, criticising Indian traditions has become a way to prove progressiveness for some so-called seculars." According to Fadnavis, some people have tried to promote a narrative against 'sanatan dharma'. At another event in the city on the same day, Fadnavis also felicitated youngsters who have done noteworthy work in social, sports, and other fields. The youth wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had organised the programme to mark the tricentenary birth celebrations of Ahilyabai Holkar. At this occasion, Fadnavis said, "Holkar ensured that the rule of law existed. She introduced a legal system that delivered justice without any fear or favour. The court system was percolated to the village level under her guidance." State to enquire into police officer's role in weapons licence to Hagawanes: CM
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday said the state government will enquire into the role of senior police officer Jalinder Supekar's, a relative of an accused in the dowry death case, alleged involvement in issuing weapons licences to members of the Hagawane family. 'We have received complaints about it and have started enquiring into it. Some decisions (about Supekar) have been taken to ensure there is no influence or interference in the investigation of the death of Vaishnavi,' Fadnavis said after a book release function in the city. When asked about the large number of weapons licences issued in Pune in the last two years, Fadnavis said the state government will look into this and cancel those that have been illegally issued. Speaking about the arrest of Nilesh Chavan, who is accused of cruelty towards Vaishnavi Hagwane's 10-month-old son, from the Nepal border, the Chief Minister said Chavan was planning to escape to Nepal but was nabbed by police after getting proper intelligence inputs. 'I had been told that no one will be spared in the case. There will be no negligence tolerated and our efforts would be to ensure strict punishment to the accused,' he said. Chavan had taken custody of Vaishnavi's 10-month-old child after the arrest of expelled NCP leader Rajendra Hagawane and his fmaily and refused to give custody to the parents of Vaishnavi. However, he later escaped and the child's custody was given to Vaishnavi's parents. Speaking about the Ladki Bahin scheme, the CM said the state government was implementing it and had found that few ineligible people took benefit of the scheme so they were being removed from the list of beneficiaries.
