The doc behind the wheel in Tata Harrier's latest viral ad

Earlier this month, a video dropped online showing a Tata ascending the rugged terrain of Anappara (Elephant Rock), a nearly 4,000-ft-tall mountain in Idukki that resembles the shape of an elephant. The promo video, which ends with the tagline 'Delete the Impossible', instantly sparked awe and discussions. Indeed, everyone wanted to learn more about the man behind the wheel, the one who navigated this electric SUV up the treacherous trail. Well, it's none other than Dr Mohammed Fahed V P, a 38-year-old ayurvedic doctor from Malappuram who won the prestigious Rainforest Challenge (RFC) in Goa, one of the toughest off-road races in the country, in 2024. Fahed's journey into the world of mud and machines began early. 'I started driving jeeps in college. But even before, growing up in Malappuram meant that I was used to the terrain usually associated with off-roading. In fact, the nearly four-kilometre stretch from the main road to our house is indeed an adventure trail,' Fahed quips.

Tata Harrier EV Climbs The Elephant Rock, Shows Its Off-Road Capabilities

Tata is gearing up for the launch of the Harrier EV on 3rd June. A day before the launch, Tata released a video showcasing the off-road capabilities of the electric SUV. The video features Dr Mohammed Fahed, a professional off-roader, climbing the Elephant Rock in Kerala. While the locals suggest that climbing the Elephant Rock poses a deadly challenge, the Harrier EV did outshine the terrain. The Elephant Rock of Kerala is situated at an elevation of 3,937 feet. The locals expressed concern that taking a car up into the hills is dangerous, even after taking ample safety precautions. However, Dr Fahed put his experience and courage to work to tackle the jagged rocks, loose boulders, and even a 34-degree incline on the Tata Harrier EV. Rock Crawl Mode The video also shows features that assist in the Elephant Rock adventure, it gets a dual-motor setup and three driving modes (rock crawl, snow & sand). It also gets an off-road cruise assist, a 360-degree camera setup, and a transparent mode that provides a wider view of the underbody. Tata is going to reveal all the technical and mechanical specs of the Harrier EV on 3rd June. However, we can expect it to get two battery pack options. The brand has not revealed the interiors yet, however, the teaser insists that it borrows the dashboard and infotainment screen from the ICE iteration, rotary knobs for selecting ride modes, and more. The Elephant Rock teaser also gives us a hint about the claimed range of the Tata Harrier EV. The video insists that the Tata Harrier EV gives a 560 km range with 90 percent, and is expected to deliver around 600 km on a fully charged battery. However, the brand has already confirmed that the flagship SUV is set to deliver 500 Nm of torque.
