Kundi slams K-P for 'diverting' tribal funds
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has emphasized the need for unity among the Pashtun community to overcome the challenges they face. He called on all tribal groups to engage with the state with a united voice and urged the formation of a joint tribal Jirga to collectively plan for the future of the merged tribal districts. He made these remarks on Monday while addressing a gathering organized by the Mehsud Jirga in Dera Ismail Khan, where he was the chief guest. The event was attended by elders from the Mehsud, Barki, and Bettani tribes of Upper South Waziristan. The leaders of the Mehsud Jirga lauded Governor Kundi's efforts in securing the safe recovery of Atta Muhammad Mehsud, acknowledging his active role in the matter. Speaking at the event, the governor said, "Advocating for your rights and contributing to the recovery of Atta Muhammad was my duty." He added that he had raised the issue of tribal rights with the prime minister, affirming that this was not about politics but about ensuring that the rights of the tribal people are upheld. Governor Kundi criticized the provincial government for failing to fulfill its promise of providing Rs100 billion annually to the merged districts following their integration. He accused the provincial authorities of diverting Rs700 billion funds meant for the tribal areas. He concluded by stating that the elimination of terrorism would bring lasting peace to the tribal regions and secure a brighter future for the youth. "All stakeholders must play a constructive role in establishing peace across the province," he said.

He noted ongoing issues such as inadequate hospital care, shortages of medicines and doctors, lack of hospital beds, and difficulties in accessing the Insaf Health Card. He highlighted that the situation in rural areas is particularly dire, with preventable diseases such as childbirth complications, hepatitis, tuberculosis, heart disease, and diabetes claiming hundreds of lives each year. Governor Kundi emphasized the urgent need for improving healthcare infrastructure, pointing out that while international organizations recommend allocating 510% of a country's GDP to health, Pakistan's spending remains below 3%.

Governor laments poor law and order in K-P
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has said that the law and order situation in K-P is not encouraging, with army and police busy in intelligence-based operations. He said security agencies are making huge sacrifices. He expressed these views while talking to the media at his residence, Kundi Model Farm, on Eidul Fitr. Kundi said the state is fulfilling its responsibilities and the issue of law and order in K-P was also discussed in a recent meeting of the National Security Council (NSC). "Unfortunately, some political parties boycotted this meeting. Which shows that they only want to get concessions from the government for their political purposes," he said. He said that some elements wanted Imran Khan to be brought back to the National Assembly, but did anyone demand this in the past when other leaders were in jail? These are the same parties that have supported such policies in the past while in power, but today, when they themselves are in trouble, they are demanding an NRO. When the 26th Amendment was tabled, they also betrayed their allies and boycotted the meeting. The governor said that it is important to keep politics and accountability separate. If someone is accused of corruption or illegal actions, they will have to face the court of law. The government cannot give NRO to anyone. If someone considers himself innocent, he will have to wait for the court's decision. Regarding the events of May 9, PTI's own leaders have admitted that their workers were involved. Violence, vandalism of government property, and hate campaigns against national institutions in the name of political struggle are not acceptable, he said, adding that in the past, many leaders remained in jail for years, but no one attacked state institutions. Kundi said that water scarcity in Sindh is a serious problem and the people of Sindh and the Sindh government have serious concerns about it. The federal government needs to take serious steps on this issue. The issue of distribution of NFC award is also yet to be resolved, and the provinces will have to take effective steps to secure their financial rights.
