More info After a 16-year hiatus, Oasis made a triumphant return to Scotland as the Gallagher brothers graced the Murrayfield stage last night for the first time since 2009. The gig was packed with memorable moments, including the pair criticising Edinburgh council for their generalisations about their fans, and Noel's influencer daughter donning a Celtic FC tracksuit amidst the crowd. However, one aspect of the gig that left Oasis fans scratching their heads was the uncanny resemblance of two blokes to the famous brothers. Dressed up as the rockers for the gig, these two chaps certainly turned heads outside the venue. The Liam and Noel lookalikes, known as Glen and Max, were promoting BAFTA award-winning artist Alison Jackson's Fringe show, Faking Famous: You Can Be a Celebrity Too. (Image: Jeff) In this show, Jackson invites audience members on stage and transforms them into spitting images of A-list celebrities. As a teaser for her new show, Jackson took her faux Gallagher brothers to the gates of Murrayfield, sharing a staged humorous video on her Instagram of the doppelgangers being turned away from the gig. The doubles posed for photos with fans and encouraged them to come and see the full show, which is running until August 25 at Assembly, reports the Daily Record.

Oasis lookalikes puzzle Murrayfield fans at first Edinburgh gig

Fans were stumped as Liam and Noel doppelgangers were spotted loitering outside the venue ahead of the gig. Oasis has officially returned to Scotland after 16 years, as the Gallagher brothers took to the Murrayfield stage last night for the first time since 2009. The gig saw several iconic moments, including the pair blasting Edinburgh council for generalising about their fans, and Noel's influencer daughter sporting a Celtic FC tracksuit in the crowd. ‌ But one element of the gig that puzzled Oasis fans was a pair of geezers that had a scary resemblance to the famous brothers. Having dressed up as the rockers for the gig, the two men turned countless heads outside the venue. ‌ The Liam and Noel knock-offs, named Glen and Max, were promoting BAFTA award winning provocateur Alison Jackson's Fringe show, Faking Famous: You Can Be a Celebrity Too, where she invites audience members on stage and turns them into uncanny lookalikes of A-list celebs. ‌ In a teaser for her new show, the artist took her bootleg Gallagher brothers to the doors of Murrayfield, posting a staged comical video on her Instagram of the fake brothers being knocked back from the gig. The doppelgangers took pictures with fans and urged them to come and see the full show, which is running until August 25 at Assembly. ‌ In other news from last night's blow-out gig, Noel Gallagher's daughter Anais was spotted sporting Celtic FC colours. Anais Gallagher has been following the UK stretch of the sell-out Oasis reunion tour, having been spotted at the Wembley shows and even giving some backstage insight on her Instagram. ‌ The budding 25-year-old photographer is an Instagram and TikTok influencer, and she has been spotted at several gigs of the UK tour so far. Last night's Murrayfield performance was no different, and the influencer embraced Scots culture by sporting a Celtic FC zippy in an image she posted on her Instagram story during the gig. ‌ Throwing up a peace sign in her Adidas Celtic zip-up, the TikToker showed her support for the Glasgow-based team. Her father Noel has previously shared his devotion to Celtic, coming from an Irish Catholic background in Manchester. ‌ While he is a well-known Man City fan, the Celtic Star reports that Gallagher has often been spotted supporting the Hoops over the years. The star has also been spotted at Celtic park in the past, notably when Celtic drew 3-3 with Pep Guardiola's side in 2016. Now, Scots Oasis fans adore that the star's daughter is paying homage to her father's favourite Scottish football club. One fan who shared the image of Anais on X wrote: "Oasis star @NoelGallagher's daughter Anais representing the @CelticFC colours at Murrayfield last night. "Noel and Liam's mum Peggy is famously a massive Celtic fan, with both brothers regularly showing their support for the Hoops throughout the years." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! A photographer who shot to fame after 'faking' a picture of Princess Diana and Dodi al Fayed in the 1990s is to create lookalikes live on stage at the Fringe in a bid to lift the lid on celebrity fakery. Alison Jackson will make up audience members on stage in Edinburgh to look like well-known celebrities and hold a photoshoot to demonstrate her work, which she says she hopes will "burst the bubble" of celebrity culture. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad She hopes to recreate the meeting planned for this weekend in Scotland between Donald Trump, Sir Keir Starmer and John Swinney by pinpointing lookalikes who look like the three politicians, as well as creating images of Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi, alongside other well-known names including Taylor Swift, David Attenborough and Harry Styles. Known as the first to create false images of celebrities presented as art, she now uses elements of AI in her work, as well as lookalikes and even real celebrities. Her show, Alison Jackson's Faking Famous: You Can Be a Celebrity Too, is her Fringe debut after a short run of live shows in London which were cut short by the pandemic. 'It's a new show, because I wanted to do a reveal of behind the scenes of how you make a celebrity,' she said. 'I think it'll be quite an extraordinary thing to see, because people really do care about crafting. If you have a look at social media, everyone's busy trying out new products, how to get their hair straight, how to get the right body shape. There's a lot of craft involved in that.' She added: 'Everywhere, celebrities are busy trying to make themselves famous. The media is trying to make the celebrities famous. Social media, everyone's in on it, it's just this vicious circle of commerce.' Alison Jackson's iconic image of what appears to be Princess Diana giving the middle finger. | Alison Jackson Ms Jackson became known for her photography in the 1990s, after she created a photo of what appeared to be Princess Diana giving the middle finger in 1998, followed a year later by a mock-up family portrait of Diana, Dodi al-Fayed and their fictional child. She said: '[When I started] I was commenting on the media fake news, and the rise of information that wasn't correct in the media using imagery. And now, we're still continuing to have misinformation and disinformation, and nobody's managed to break that bubble. 'I try to break the bubble by making it look as real as possible, but actually, you know it's not real. You always know that these are lookalikes, but after a while, which is intentional, you don't care. And the whole guessing game of whether it's real or fake or not seems to be enormous. People are always trying to work it out.' Her show, at Assembly Checkpoint from 20-23 August, will include a competition with a panel of celebrity judges, who, along with the audience, vote on the best lookalike, as well as revealing stories from her infamous shoots.
