Buccaneers Insider Details Todd Bowles Coach Marriage With Josh Grizzard

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will kick off the 2025 season with a new offensive coordinator for the third season in a row. Josh Grizzard was promoted to the role after just one season in the organization, serving as the pass game coordinator in 2024. The position opened up when Liam Coen left to become the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier in the offseason. Advertisement Coen served in the position just one season after taking over from Dave Canales, who departed in 2023 to become the head coach of the Carolina Panthers after one season at the help of the Bucs' offense. Grizzard will have some big shoes to fill as a first-time playcaller, taking over a top-three offense from Coen, and could look to his head coach, Todd Bowles, for direction. Bowles also serves as the team's defensive coordinator, and typically has his hands full with those responsibilities. But as Fox Sports' Greg Auman pointed out on The JP Peterson Show on on Wednesday, Bowles is always happy to help out. Advertisement "Todd's done a really good job with these hires. For you to pick two guys that we probably didn't know that well before they were hired, and then to elevate them into first-time play-calling NFL coordinators, and to have both of them be head coaches now," Auman said. "I don't know that he cares to be meddlesome in terms of, 'I think you should do this more, or use this look,' but going about making sure he's [Grizzard] comfortable, how to call plays, how to put together a game plan, how to recognize defenses. I think there's a little more oversight with him." Auman continued that Bowles has gotten younger each season with his new-hire offensive coordinator, as Grizzard is just 34, but the team shows confidence in him and his abilities. Ex Steelers QB Confirmed as Starter in New York

Ex Steelers QB Confirmed as Starter in New York The Pittsburgh Steelers have turned over their quarterback room for the second offseason in a row. Last year's starters are both in New York now, as Russell Wilson signed a free agent deal with the Giants, and Justin Fields joined the Jets. Advertisement While the Giants could still add a quarterback in the upcoming NFL Draft with the No. 3 overall pick, the Jets are moving forward with Fields as their starter in 2025. Jets general manager Darren Mougey said on Sunday that Fields is the guy. 'We believe Justin is the starter,' Mougey said, via video from SNYJets. 'We believe in Justin. We believe we can win with Justin. We're excited about Justin's potential.' It will be Fields' third team in three seasons after joining the Steelers via trade last offseason. 'He has a quiet confidence about himself,' Jets coach Aaron Glenn told Judy Battista of NFL Media. 'He can really throw the deep ball really, really well. Obviously, his legs are something that's dynamic not just in college but the NFL as well. I just think he's ready to break out as a top-notch quarterback. Advertisement "So, he's going to do everything he can to be one of the better ones and we are going to coach our asses off to make sure he does a good job out there.'
