Ex Steelers QB Confirmed as Starter in New York
The Pittsburgh Steelers have turned over their quarterback room for the second offseason in a row.
Last year's starters are both in New York now, as Russell Wilson signed a free agent deal with the Giants, and Justin Fields joined the Jets.

While the Giants could still add a quarterback in the upcoming NFL Draft with the No. 3 overall pick, the Jets are moving forward with Fields as their starter in 2025.
Jets general manager Darren Mougey said on Sunday that Fields is the guy.
'We believe Justin is the starter,' Mougey said, via video from SNYJets. 'We believe in Justin. We believe we can win with Justin. We're excited about Justin's potential.'
It will be Fields' third team in three seasons after joining the Steelers via trade last offseason.
'He has a quiet confidence about himself,' Jets coach Aaron Glenn told Judy Battista of NFL Media. 'He can really throw the deep ball really, really well. Obviously, his legs are something that's dynamic not just in college but the NFL as well. I just think he's ready to break out as a top-notch quarterback.

"So, he's going to do everything he can to be one of the better ones and we are going to coach our asses off to make sure he does a good job out there.'

Fields started six games last season for the Steelers, posting a 4-2 record before Wilson recovered from a calf injury. The former Broncos and Seahawks QB took over and went 6-5 as Pittsburgh lost it's final five games including the Wild Card matchup with Baltimore in the postseason.

Phillies Identified as Potential Trade Fit for Orioles All-Star Felix Bautista
Phillies Identified as Potential Trade Fit for Orioles All-Star Felix Bautista originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Philadelphia Phillies are setting up to be one of the most aggressive teams at this year's MLB trade deadline. Firmly entrenched in the Wild Card race and 4.5 games behind the New York Mets in the NL East, the Phillies are expected to be in the market for relief pitching. Advertisement While closer Jose Alvarado serves an 80-game suspension and is no longer eligible for the postseason, the team has turned to Jordan Romano with frustrating results. In 23.1 innings, the former All-Star has struggled, allowing 28 hits and 12 walks, leading to a 7.71 ERA. As a whole, the bullpen ranks 25th with a 4.56 ERA, proving further why adding one or two pieces will be crucial to keep Philadelphia in a crowded NL playoff hunt. Sports Illustrated's Dylan Sampson recently listed relief pitcher Felix Bautista as a potential fit for the Phillies' bullpen. Baltimore Orioles pitcher Felix Bautista (74) throws a pitch against the Athletics during the ninth inning at Sutter Health Lee-Imagn Images Once a core player to a hopeful Baltimore Orioles perennial playoff contender, Bautista is one of the hottest names on the trade block. While Baltimore is not a confirmed deadline seller, trading Bautista may further strengthen their farm system, setting up the potential for star-caliber acquisitions in the offseason. Advertisement Although Bautista's star has fallen slightly after Tommy John Surgery cost him the entire 2024 season, he has rebounded well. In 21.2 innings of work, the 30-year-old has posted a 3.32 ERA, 28 strikeouts, and 12 saves in 2025. His fastball velocity has dipped post-surgery, but the former All-Star still has the track record any team would want come time for the playoffs. In 2023, Bautista notched 33 saves and 110 strikeouts over 61 innings en route to an All-Star game nod. While he may not be the same player, banking on Bautista in a late-inning role is the aggressive move Phillies' president of baseball operations, Dave Dombrowski, is known to make. Rob Thomson Claims Phillies' Hitting Coach is Best in Baseball Despite Recent Woes
Rob Thomson Claims Phillies' Hitting Coach is Best in Baseball Despite Recent Woes originally appeared on Athlon Sports. It's been a rough few weeks for the City of Brotherly Love's baseball fans. The Philadelphia Phillies have gone from having the best record in all of MLB to being swept by their lowly western neighbors, the Pittsburgh Pirates. Philly now sits at 37-28, 4.5 games back of the NL East division lead. Advertisement Their recent struggles have mostly been on the offensive side. With Bryce Harper sidelined for a combination of elbow and wrist injuries, the club has gone just 1-7. They also only won one of three during the brief period he was back, but clearly not up to his normal ability. During this slide, they've averaged just a tick over three runs per game. In four of their games on the current five game losing streak, they only scored a single run. Trea Turner is one of the only Phillies not in a massive hitting slump - he's still maintaining a .300 average during this Ross-Imagn Images Yet Phillies manager Rob Thomson is adamant that hitting coach Kevin Long isn't one to blame for the downturn. "I think Kevin is the best hitting coach in baseball," Thomson said before Monday's game. "I think these guys listen to him. He's a tireless worker. He's great with the players. He's knowledgeable, obviously. But he also tells them the truth, and they respect that." Bold doesn't accurately describe what kind of claim that is to make right now. There's no doubt that Philly's lineup is full of hitters who can do serious damage - but it also can't be denied that it's prone to going cold for extended stretches. The last three Postseasons, as well as last July and this current stretch, are evidence of that - and Long was around for it all. Advertisement As a team, the Phillies are 12th in MLB in average, 14th in home runs, and 10th in hits, RBI, and OPS. However, that is with Kyle Schwarber having a monster year and Trea Turner building off a strong May. The rest of the order is not riding the same highs. Nick Castellanos and Alec Bohm have both cooled off after their own impressive months. Bryson Stott is now looking overmatched in the leadoff spot. There are still two big holes in the outfield, and J.T. Realmuto's power has vanished. Even Harper was not playing in peak form - it's possible that his wrist injury was hampering him more than he initially let on. All-in-all, it's been looking more like the lineup of a Wild Card contender than a World Series one. NFL Playmaker Retires at 32-Years-Old to Go Back to College originally appeared on Athlon Sports. A former Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver is retiring from the NFL, but he already has a new career path. Advertisement NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Saturday that receiver Chris Conley is hanging up his cleats. Instead of playing football this fall, the former wideout will go back to the University of Georgia to earn a film degree. "Veteran NFL WR Chris Conley, who most recently played for the 49ers, has decided to retire after 10 seasons to follow his dream his agent Jonathan Perzley of Sportstars said," post Rapoport on X. "Conley is heading to film school back at UGA to pursue dreams of being a film maker. So cool." Conley is retiring after 10 seasons in the NFL. He played his first four years with the Kansas City Chiefs. Advertisement Over the next six seasons, Conley appeared in games for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Houston Texans, Tennessee Titans and San Francisco 49ers. Former Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Chris Conley© Mark J. Rebilas-Imagn Images Conley's best statistical season came with the Jaguars in 2019 when he had 47 catches for 775 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Conley also had five touchdowns with the Chiefs in 2018, which was Patrick Mahomes' first season as a starter. In 2024, the 32-year-old had six catches for 76 yards while playing 239 offensive snaps. Conley spent four years with the Bulldogs from 2011-14. He increased his yardage output after every season at Georgia. As a senior, Conley averaged 18.3 yards per catch and scored eight touchdowns. In 49 career college games, he had 117 receptions, 1,938 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns. Advertisement Conley represented the University of Georgia well in the NFL. In his next chapter, he'll try to represent the school in Hollywood.
