Tollywood fraternity reacts to Nusraat Faria's arrest and bail

Actor Nusraat Faria , who recently portrayed former Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina in Mujib: The Making of a Nation, was granted bail on Tuesday against Taka 5,000 bond by a Dhaka court. She was arrested on May 18 at Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport while attempting to fly to Thailand. She was taken into custody in connection with an attempted murder case tied to last year's anti-government protests in Bangladesh. Her arrest came as a shock to her Tollywood collaborators. 'She is a bright, talented, and very well-mannered individual,' said Bibaho Obhijaan director Birsa Dasgupta. 'The charges against her seem completely out of character.' Baba Yadav, who directed her in Boss 2 , said, 'Nusraat is a sensible woman from an educated background — she even studied law. On set, she was always polite and professional.' Cinematographer and director Soumik Halder, who worked with Faria in both a music video and Abar Bibaho Obhijaan , said, 'She's a professional and a delight to work with. I hope she overcomes this with strength.' I've worked with Nusraat & found her to be respectful to everyone on set. I read the news of her getting bail on Tuesday – Ankush, who starred opposite Faria in Abar Bibaho Obhijaan Check out our list of the latest Hindi , English , Tamil , Telugu , Malayalam , and Kannada movies . Relief in Tolly as Nusraat Faria gets bail

1 2 3 Kolkata: The film fraternity on both sides of the border are relieved after a Dhaka court granted bail to Bangladeshi actor Nusraat Faria. The actor, who played the role of Sheikh Hasina in the Bangabandhu biopic, 'Mujib: The making of a Nation', was arrested in an attempted murder case . Tollywood director Birsa Dasgupta had directed Faria in 2019 for 'Bibaho Obhijaan'. "She was about 20 or 21 and came across as a bright girl who wanted to do well for herself. She was a team player and was full of enthusiasm. She told me that everyone cast her in only song-and-dance roles, while in my film, she was given a serious role," said Dasgupta. Faria was cast in the role of a social activist opposite actor Ankush Hazra. "Immediately after finishing my film, she went to study law. She was very serious about her studies and got good grades too. So, she is not just an actor but a lawyer as well. I am glad she got bail," Dasgupta added. Actor Om Sahani, amid his busy shooting schedule for Dhrubo Banerjee's 'Raghu Dakat', has come to know about her arrest and subsequent bail. He said, "She was my heroine in 'Hero 420'. During the shooting, she has been very professional. The news of bail is a big relief." Faria was the heroine of director Ashok Pati's first film titled 'Aashiqui: True Love'. "She also acted in 'Inspector Notty K' opposite Jeet. She came across as a nice lady. I was in touch with her till a couple of years ago. Yet, it was shocking when I first got the news of her arrest on Sunday. Today, I am relieved that she has got bail. I have faith in law and I am sure justice will be served," Pati said. Bangladeshi actor Azmeri Haque Badhon, who is also known in India for having acted in Vishal Bhardwaj's 'Khufiya' and Srijit Mukherji's 'Robindronath Ekhane Kawkhono Khete Aashenni', is happy with the news. "I am happy that she has got bail but the amount of physical, mental and social harassment that she went through has been tremendous. Will the State take responsibility for her harassment? People are talking about the injustice to Nusraat Faria since she is a known face and we are all standing up for her. But, there are many others against whom false charges have been made. The attention is being diverted from the main issue, with other personal agendas being brought up and new cases being levelled against many," Badhon told TOI.

Jets Predicted To Cut Starter In Obvious Move

The New York Jets have some fat to trim before the 2025 NFL season, and for a roster that features just three players over the age of 30, it may not be the easiest decision. The three elder Jets seem to have decent job security, despite head coach Aaron Glenn calling for a youth movement. Advertisement 'It's a young man's game,' Glenn said during league meetings in March. 'I was always taught that you can't be afraid of the young player, so … we're able to mold these guys into who you want them to be and what type of team you want to be. 'Me and (Jets GM Darren Mougey) did a really good job of trying to create that. I think every situation that we wanted to create when it comes to free agency, we hit, as far as getting the quarterback that we wanted, getting the quarterback of the defense, trying to make this team younger.' Jets X-Factor's Nick Faria predicts that the decision on who to cut is an "obvious" one, however. Faria predicts the Jets will let go of former fourth-round pick Michael Clemons. 'Former fourth-round edge rusher Micheal Clemons has struggled to make a positive impact on the Jets since he was taken in the 2022 draft. The former Texas A&M product has more career penalties than sacks. Clemons will turn 28 in August, meaning he doesn't quite fit the 'youth movement' plans. Combine that with his poor discipline and production on the field, and he is an obvious cut candidate,' Faria wrote Advertisement 'Clemons is entering the final year of his rookie contract with New York. His cap hit is $3.6 million, but the Jets can cut him to clear $3.4 million while only taking on $191K in dead money,' Faria explained. Clemons was a full-time starter for the Jets this past season after starting just one game in his first two NFL campaigns. Clemons tallied 4.5 sacks, eight quarterback hits, and a forced fumble in 17 games. While, as Faria pointed out, Clemons has more penalties (eight) than sacks (7.5) in his career, he only logged two penalties in his 2024 campaign. Actor who played Hasina in a film by Benegal jailed

DHAKA: Bangladesh's leading actress Nusraat Faria , who portrayed former PM Sheikh Hasina in a Mujib biopic directed by renowned Indian filmmaker Shyam Benegal , was sent to jail on Monday in connection with an attempt to murder case linked to last year's anti-govt protests. A day ago, Faria was detained at Dhaka airport while attempting to travel to Thailand. She was sent to jail on a court order. Seventeen actors, including Faria, were named in an attempt to murder case filed April 29. "Our team went to the airport based on information from immigration police," said inspector Sujan Haque. Amid widespread criticism of the Muhammad Yunus govt over the arrest, cultural affairs adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki called it an "embarrassing incident". He said such actions must be taken with greater caution. "I believe Faria will receive legal remedy through due process". He said govt's stated policy is to avoid arbitrary arrests in broad cases, particularly where preliminary probe does not indicate an individual's involvement.
