Kirkuk Airport Opens Gold Testing and Hallmarking Unit
By John Lee.
Iraq's Central Organisation for Standardisation and Quality Control (COSQC) has opened its fourth unit for testing and hallmarking precious metals and imported gold at Kirkuk International Airport.
The ceremony, led by Dr. Fayadh Mohammed Abdul-Dulaimi, COSQC President, was attended by key officials, including airport customs and border management representatives.
Dr. Abdul-Dulaimi highlighted the unit's role in ensuring the quality and authenticity of imported gold, while also establishing a database of importing companies and quantities to comply with anti-money laundering and anti-terrorism financing regulations under Law No. 83 (1976) and Cabinet Decision No. 61 (2018).
Kirkuk Airport officials emphasised the unit's importance in enhancing the airport's position as a regional trade hub, fostering international trade and attracting investment.
