FedEx St. Jude Championship: Tee times for Thursday, Friday tournament play

The FedEx Cup Playoffs begin this weekend with the St. Jude Championship at TPC Southwind. Since the inception of the playoffs in 2007, no golfer has ever won back-to-back FedEx Cups. Sure, we've seen some dominant forces like Rory McIlroy, who has won the Cup three times, or Tiger Woods earned both the inaugural and third-ever FedEx Cup, but no one has ever earned the honor in back-to-back years. Scottie Scheffler has the chance to make history this year, and with how well he's been playing, you'd be a fool to bet against him. That said, there are dozens of elite golfers all vying for the Cup this year. It would come as no shock if someone like Collin Morikawa, Sepp Straka, or Maverick McNealy earned the Cup as well, especially considering one of the biggest competitors, Rory McIlroy decided not to tee it up for the first tournament of the FedEx Cup Playoffs. The St. Jude Championship will eliminate 19 golfers from the contenders' pool, narrowing the field from 69 to just 50. The final tournament, the Tour Championship, will consist of just the top-30 golfers. Here are the tee times for the opening two rounds of this weekend's event. Tommy Fleetwood eyes end to PGA Tour drought at Travelers Championship

While he's won seven times on the DP World Tour, the Englishman (34) is seeking his first PGA Tour win in his 159th start. After racking up 41 top-10 finishes and winning $29.3 million on the US circuit — the most of any player without a win on the tour since 1983 — he has a chance to end the drought today after he shot a bogey-free, seven-under 63 to lead by three shots from Russell Henley and Keegan Bradley on 16-under. 'I'm on top of a lot of stat lines for people that haven't won on the PGA Tour, so to always to be a No. 1 at something is always nice,' Fleetwood joked at TPC River Highlands. 'Yeah, of course, I would love to win on the PGA Tour. I think it's an element of your career that everybody wants, and I, of course, want it. 'I've given myself like a back-end chance a couple of times this year, but I've not been in contention. 'This is my first real chance, so I'm really excited about that and looking forward to it. 'Again, it's easy to put pressure on yourself, and the longer things go on, the more people talk about it, of course they do. 'But there are also things that I'm very proud about as well, like my consistency, where I stand FedEx Cups and World Rankings and things like that. So there's a lot to be happy about. 'But of course, I'm not going to be silly and say I don't care about it. Of course, I want to win, and hopefully, it will happen sooner rather than later.' Approaching storms mean that tee times have been adjusted, and Fleetwood will tee off at 5:56pm Irish time with Henley and local favourite Bradley, who shot respective rounds of 61 and 63 yesterday. Tournament favourite Scottie Scheffler goes into the final round nine shots behind after he made a triple bogey at the first on his 29th birthday and a double bogey on the eighth en route to a 72. He's in a six-way tie for eighth that includes Rory McIlroy, who birdied four of his first eight holes to surge into contention before he double-bogeyed the 12th and signed for a 68. Shane Lowry showed signs of life following his US Open disappointment as he bounced back from rounds of 72 and 73 with a five-birdie 66 that moved him up to joint 51st on one-over.
