Real Madrid star Federico Valverde on Tuesday moved to reassure the club's supporters regarding his wellbeing. This comes amid the assurance that the Uruguayan will be available for selection for Los Blancos' season opener. Valverde for his part set alarm bells sounding in Spain's capital on Monday. This came after word was forthcoming that the all-action midfielder would not be called up for Real Madrid's final pre-season friendly against WSG Tirol, owing to a case of muscular overlaod. With Eduardo Camavinga and Jude Bellingham already sidelined, news of as much marked a major concern for all of a Blancos persuasion. In turn, upon Valverde being spotted departing Valdebebas on Tuesday, it came as little surprise when the subject of his fitness was put to the 27-year-old himself. Real Madrid worried about star midfielder after recent fitness concern
Real Madrid are really worried about the fitness of their midfield star Federico Valverde after the Uruguayan missed the club's pre-season trip to Austria due to muscle overload, according to SPORT. It is said that manager Xabi Alonso is taking no chances with one of his most trusted players, especially given the demanding season ahead. Valverde's importance to Los Blancos cannot be overstated. Last season, he was the most-used player in the squad, featuring in all but two matches despite the club being hit hard by injuries. Known for his tireless work rate and physical endurance, the 25-year-old managed to remain a consistent presence in midfield throughout a packed schedule. However, with the midfielder having played 65 matches across all competitions in the previous campaign, Alonso is aware that fatigue and the short summer break could catch up with him. To avoid any long-term setbacks, the coach intends to manage Valverde's minutes carefully during the early stages of the season. Set for central role, not right-back duty Federico Valverde is extremely important for Real Madrid. (Photo by) One thing is already clear that Valverde will not be used as a right-back this season. With Trent Alexander-Arnold now in the squad, Alonso has no need to deploy him in that role for cover. Instead, the Uruguayan will return to his natural midfield position, where he is expected to be a regular starter. The question now is who will partner with him in the middle. The most likely option is pairing Valverde with Aurelien Tchouameni at the base, while Jude Bellingham operates further forward. However, with Bellingham sidelined until November, Alonso will need to choose between Arda Guler, Brahim Diaz, or the new signing Franco Mastantuono to fill the gap. For now, Madrid's priority is to protect Valverde's fitness, ensuring he remains at peak condition for the crucial months ahead.

Real Madrid midfield heavyweight hoping to be ready for Osasuna clash after fitness setback
According to journalist Melchor Ruiz, Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde is working to ensure he is ready for the first La Liga match of the season against Osasuna. The Uruguayan star is currently recovering from a strain in his right leg, which kept him out of the squad for the pre-season friendly against WSG Tirol. While several key names were also absent from the travelling list, including Eduardo Camavinga, Jude Bellingham, Endrick, and Ferland Mendy, Valverde's omission drew the most attention. However, early indications are positive, as his injury is not considered serious, and he is expected to return in time for the season opener at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday, August 19. Xabi Alonso to carefully manage Valverde's workload As reported earlier, manager Xabi Alonso is set to closely monitor Valverde's playing time this season. The goal is to prevent overexertion and maintain the midfielder's exceptional energy levels across the campaign. Valverde wants to return for La Liga opener. (Photo by) Over the past two years, Valverde's tireless performances have been crucial to Real Madrid's success, but the physical toll has been significant. Alonso is determined to avoid 'draining' the player, ensuring his high-intensity style remains sustainable and reducing the risk of fatigue-related injuries. Focus on the Osasuna clash Despite the recent setback, Valverde is fully focused on being match-fit for the league opener. His presence would be a major boost for Real Madrid, offering Alonso tactical flexibility in midfield and wide areas. With the Bernabeu crowd set to welcome the team back for competitive action, the club remains optimistic that one of their most influential players will be ready to play his part from day one of the new season.

Real Madrid midfielder ruled out of La Liga opener due to injury
Real Madrid start their 2025-26 season in nine days' time as they host Osasuna at the Santiago Bernabeu, but it appears that they will be without an important player for Xabi Alonso's first La Liga match. Alonso will have big decisions to make on his first starting line-up of the season – especially in midfield. If he uses a 4-2-3-1 as expected, there will be question marks about who plays alongside Federico Valverde as one of the two pivots in that system. Aurelien Tchouameni is the favourite, but there is also an opportunity for Eduardo Camavinga. Camavinga is seeking redemption during the 2025-26 campaign, having had a poor last 12 months. Real Madrid have kept their faith in him, but they will be clear that he needs to return to his best level in order to remain at the Bernabeu long-term. But unfortunately for Camavinga, he looks set to miss the La Liga opener against Osasuna, with Real Madrid confirming that he has suffered an ankle injury. 'After the tests carried out today on our player Eduardo Camavinga by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a sprain in his right ankle. Pending evolution.' Image via Mahmud Hams/Diario AS How long is Camavinga expected to be out for? As per Marca, it is only a minor injury for Camavinga, but he is still expected to be out for at least 10 days. And given that Real Madrid face Osasuna next Tuesday (19/08), it would come too soon for him to be involved. Real Madrid are already without Jude Bellingham for the next 2-3 months after he underwent surgery on a long-standing shoulder injury earlier in the summer. It's definitely not ideal for Alonso to be without another midfielder for his first match at the Bernabeu, but it looks like he will have to do without Camavinga against Osasuna.
