Texas signs ARREST warrants for Democrats in private jet stunt as lawmakers reveal they're on the run with their children
Texas Democrats who fled the state to stop the Republican-led legislature from approving maps that would redraw Congressional maps to favor Pres. Donald Trump now face arrest after missing a deadline by the governor to return.
Gov. Greg Abbott had issued a threat Sunday, telling 57 state Democrats who flew to either Illinois or New York to come back, for face losing their seats for abandoning their jobs.
'They forfeited their seats and are facing potential felony charges,' the Republican governor tweeted.
When the legislature gaveled in at 3 p.m. and the Democrats had not returned, GOP lawmakers directed the Democrats be brought back by any means, including arrest.
'The sergeant at arms and any officers appointed by her are directed to send for all absentees whose attendance is not excused for the purposes of securing and maintaining their attendance under warrant of arrest if necessary,' said House speaker Dustin Burrows, a Republican from Lubbock.
Abbott doubled down by ordering Texas troopers to arrest all rouge Democrats Monday afternoon.
However, Democrats on the run told they welcome the showdown with Republicans.
They have been working with lawyers who told them arrests were a likely outcome.
Texas House Democrats abandoned their duty and are holding flood relief and property tax cuts hostage.
I ordered Texas DPS to arrest and return every derelict House Democrat to the Texas Capitol.
This order will remain in effect until all missing Democrats are accounted for.

'When we have the President of the United States looking for five Congressional seats, that this can eventually impact the entire United States, to say that we are doing this to grand stand is bullshit, with all due respect,' Texas Rep. Linda Garcia, a Democrat from Mesquite, told Monday afternoon.
Among the liberals on the lamb, two members of the House are traveling with children, a nine and five-year-old.
