Youssef En-Nesyri Linked With Move to Aston Villa
Youssef En-Nesyri could be on the move again this summer, with Aston Villa among the clubs reportedly interested in signing the Fenerbahçe striker. The Moroccan international only joined the Turkish side last summer from Sevilla for a club-record fee of €19.5 million. He went on to score 30 goals in all competitions in his first season, including 20 in the Super Lig, six in the Europa League and four in the Turkish Cup. Despite his goal tally, En-Nesyri has faced growing frustration from sections of the Fenerbahçe fanbase, with the 26-year-old even booed in recent matches. According to reports in Turkiye, the forward is not keen to stay in Istanbul and is open to a move away. Fenerbahçe received offers for the striker during the January window but opted to delay any decision until the end of the season. With the summer transfer window now open, the club is expected to revisit those discussions. Aston Villa have been named as a serious contender for his signature. The Premier League side are reportedly preparing a €20 million bid. Villa's sporting director Monchi, previously worked with En-Nesyri at Sevilla and is understood to be keen on a reunion. En-Nesyri played 52 matches for Fenerbahçe this season and added seven assists to his 30 goals. He scored in the final league game of the season against Konyaspor, capping off a campaign that saw him rise to fourth in the club's all-time single-season scoring charts. Only Enner Valencia, Aykut Kocaman and Tanju Çolak have recorded more goals in a campaign for the club. Fenerbahçe finished the season empty-handed, missing out on the league title and domestic cups, and the lack of silverware has added to the uncertainty surrounding En-Nesyri's future. The club are believed to be open to offers and will weigh up any bids against their investment. Tags: Aston VillaFenerbahceSevillaYoussef En-Nesyri

Manchester United Ready to Sell Forward with Fenerbahçe Leading the Chase
Rasmus Højlund to Fenerbahçe? Mourinho Eyes Manchester United Striker as Summer Reinforcements Begin Mourinho's Istanbul Revolution Continues José Mourinho's Fenerbahçe have reportedly set their sights on Manchester United's misfiring forward Rasmus Højlund, according to a new report from Having already brought familiar Premier League faces Fred and Sofyan Amrabat to Turkey, Mourinho's next move could further deepen his Manchester United connections — this time up front. Advertisement It's been a mixed debut season at Old Trafford for Højlund, whose Premier League output stands at just four goals in 30 appearances. Despite showing glimpses of potential, he's struggled to assert himself as the commanding No.9 United thought they were getting. With United eager to overhaul their frontline and bring in more clinical firepower, Højlund may be one of the sacrifices. Attacking Revamp at Old Trafford It's no secret United are seeking a new focal point in attack. Both Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee have underperformed, and as the club look to trigger Matheus Cunha's £62.5 million release clause at Wolves and chase Ipswich Town's Liam Delap, someone has to make way. Photo: IMAGO 'Man Utd are willing to sell Hojlund – and Zirkzee – to fund their own attacking revamp this summer,' TEAMtalk revealed last month. That reality makes a Turkish escape plausible for the Denmark international. Fenerbahçe Plot Ambitious Double Swoop Sozcu reports that Fenerbahçe are keen to sign two 'star' strikers this summer, with Rasmus Højlund top of their wish list. Mourinho is anticipating the possible exits of Edin Džeko, Youssef En-Nesyri and Cenk Tosun, and is eager to reshape his frontline. Advertisement A 'first offer' from Fenerbahçe is expected to come in the form of a loan deal with an option to buy. While the figure remains unclear, such a move would suit Mourinho's tactical evolution in Istanbul. His admiration for Højlund isn't new either — after the sides met in Europe, Mourinho commented how the Dane can 'attack the spaces'. Photo: IMAGO Serie A Calling Again? Fenerbahçe are not alone in their interest. Italian clubs are said to be circling, with former club Atalanta among those monitoring developments. A return to Serie A — a league that suits Højlund's game — may prove more tempting than a move east. Advertisement Still, Mourinho's presence changes things. His track record of reinvigorating players, coupled with Fenerbahçe's ambition, makes this one to watch. United's Dilemma and Højlund's Future 'On the surface, it seems likelier that Man Utd would prefer to cash in on Hojlund if he's out of their plans. They need player sales to balance the books.' That stark assessment, again from Sozcu, reflects the financial pressures at Old Trafford — pressures which could open the door for Mourinho to strike. Whether Højlund sees his future in Turkey is another matter. The player didn't find the net in three meetings against Mourinho-coached sides, and a switch to a league that values technical sharpness over physicality could be an awkward fit. Advertisement Still, for Mourinho, it would be another clever reclaim project. For United, it might simply be good business. Our View – EPL Index There's something deeply concerning about how quickly Manchester United appear ready to offload Rasmus Højlund. He's just 21, playing his first season in the Premier League, and has been thrown into a dysfunctional side starved of service. Four goals in 30 league games is underwhelming, yes, but so is the midfield creativity and the lack of a consistent tactical identity around him. Selling him to Fenerbahçe — or anyone — this early feels premature. Mourinho might see something United have failed to develop properly. That's damning for United's recruitment and coaching setup more than it is for the player. Advertisement If the reports from Sozcu are accurate and the first offer is just a loan with an option to buy, then it's hard to see how that benefits United unless they're truly convinced he's not worth developing further. But what message does that send to other young players considering Old Trafford as their next step? There's a lot to fix at United, but pulling the plug on young talent after one season might only deepen the club's long-term issues.

Fenerbahçe to Cash In on Amrabat and En-Nesyri
Fenerbahçe are preparing to offload four big names this summer, with Moroccan duo Sofyan Amrabat and Youssef En-Nesyri topping the sale list. The Turkish giants are aiming to collect at least €60 million in transfer fees as they reshape their squad, according to Türkiye Newspaper . Amrabat, currently on loan from Fiorentina, is expected to see his €13 million buy option triggered before being flipped for €20 million, netting Fenerbahçe a tidy €7 million profit. En-Nesyri, meanwhile, is reportedly close to securing a €35 million move to Saudi Arabia. A blockbuster deal, but one that comes after a dramatic fall from grace. When the Moroccan striker arrived from Sevilla last summer, fans believed they'd landed the missing piece – a target man No.9 ready to deliver titles. And for a while, he looked every bit the part, firing 26 goals and providing 7 assists in 47 appearances. From August to February, he was electric. But since March 2, when he last scored against Antalyaspor, En-Nesyri has gone cold. However, the Moroccan hitman finally silenced the doubters on Friday night, finding the net in Fenerbahçe's emphatic 4-1 away victory over Başakşehir. It was En-Nesyri's 17th league goal of the season, adding to his four assists, keeping him firmly in the race for the Golden Boot. His strike came as part of a dominant second-half display, as Fenerbahçe closed the gap to leaders Galatasaray to five points with three matches remaining. The goal ended a two-month drought just days after the forward was booed off in the derby defeat to Beşiktaş. It was a much-needed response from the 27-year-old, who had faced heavy criticism in recent weeks. Even José Mourinho, who once defended him publicly, now faces growing pressure. 'En-Nesyri scored 26 goals without taking penalties. He went through a challenging period during Ramadan, where he lost some of his form, but he is starting to get back to his best. He has proven that he is regaining his physical condition. He will play a key role in the remaining seven matches of the season, without a doubt,' Mourinho insisted earlier this month. With veteran Edin Dzeko and midfielder Sebastian Szymanski also tipped for €5 million exits each, Fenerbahçe's summer clear-out looks inevitable. Tags: FenerbahceSofyan AmrabatYoussef En-Nesyri

Jose Mourinho Gives Hilarious Reply To Journalist Questioning Playing XI
Last Updated: Fenerbahçe head coach Jose Mourinho explained his rotating starting XI by saying that he tosses coins with players' faces. Fenerbahçe head coach Jose Mourinho on Friday gave a hilarious reply to a journalist questioning his different starting XI for every match, saying that he chooses the players by tossing coins with their faces on them, and the coins that fall on the table are the players who start. Mourinho, speaking after a 0-all draw in the Istanbul derby in February, said that the Galatsaray bench had been jumping like monkeys when appealing for refereeing decisions to go in their favour, a comment that had drawn flak. Mourinho made more headlines when he was asked during a press conference why he had used a different starting XI in 31 games this season. 'I have 25 coins, I throw the coins in the air. The ones that stay on the table are the ones that I play. The ones that go on the floor go on the bench. I do it just like this. During the week, I'm having fun," Mourinho said. — Sports Numbers (@Sports_Numberz) May 11, 2025 'I go to nightclubs every day in Istanbul, everywhere. And then, when it's time to choose the team, I throw coins with the players' faces. The 11 that stay on the table are the 11 that play," Mourinho said. After March's 3-1 loss to the Rangers, the Portuguese manager pretended to fall asleep in his chair as the journalist spoke on in Turkish. 'Oh, this is too much for my head. I'm tired, man. 90 minutes not to listen to all of this, I'm too tired for that," Mourinho said. The Portuguese manager has been linked with a move to the Rangers, but this week, Fenerbahce president Ali Koc said that the former had unfinished business in Turkey. Koc is confident that Mourinho is happy where he is and revealed that he had already rejected a lucrative approach earlier in the season. 'We want to continue with Jose Mourinho for stability. I find it more appropriate for Mourinho to continue for the benefit of Fenerbahce. Jose Mourinho was offered 36 million Euros (£30m) during the mid-season break, but he chose to stay at the club," Koc said. Fenerbahçe play their next game against Eyüpspor on Sunday, May 18, in Şükrü Saracoğlu. First Published: May 12, 2025, 09:53 IST
