Monster Energy's Shara "Bullet" Magomedov Defeats Marc-André Barriault at UFC Fight Night in Abu Dhabi
31-Year-Old from Makhachkala, Russia Earns Unanimous Decision Victory in Middleweight Fight, Earns UFC's $50,000 Fight of the Night Bonus ABU DHABI, UAE, July 27, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The "Bullet" is back on track! Monster Energy congratulates MMA athlete Shara Magomedov on defeating Marc-André Barriault at the UFC Fight Night in Abu Dhabi on Saturday night. In the middleweight division bout on the Main Card, the 31-year-old from Makhachkala, Russia, earned a unanimous decision victory after three turbulent rounds. The relentless battle also earned Magomedov and his opponent the UFC's $50,000 Fight of the Night Bonus. UFC Fight Night: Whittaker vs. de Ridder was contested in front of a high-energy crowd inside Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. Featuring five fights on the Main Card, the event was broadcast live on ABC television. Monster Energy's Magomedov (16-1) came to Abu Dhabi looking to return to the winner's column after suffering his first loss in the UFC to Michael Page at the UFC Fight Night in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in February 2025. Magomedov's opponent, 35-year-old Barriault (17-10) from Quebec, Canada, wanted to build on his recent win against Bruno Silva at UFC 315 in May 2025. From the start, Barriault pursued aggressively, but Magomedov evaded heavy strikes while causing damage by landing low kicks to his opponent's leading leg. When Barriault landed a takedown, Magomedov lost no time getting back on his feet and dealt punishing elbows to escape the clinch against the fence. The Canadian incurred more damage in his next takedown attempt when Magomedov fired back with a hard knee, followed by a stinging question mark kick before the end of Round 1. The fight escalated in Round 2 when Magomedov continued his fast-footed defense before hurting Barriault with another elbow in the clinch that opened a head wound. Following up with a body kick, Magomedov took control of the fight until Barriault suddenly broke through with a hard jab to the nose that rocked the Russian. Showing his grit under pressure, Magomedov survived the following rush of strikes from Barriault and shifted the scales back in his favor during the final moments of the second round. In yet another clinch, Magomedov wobbled his opponent by connecting elbows to the head and knees to the body, leaving Barriault scrambling to evade a knockout before the buzzer. The final round unfolded with both fighters pursuing a finish with no holds barred. In this brutal war, Magomedov found more openings for dangerous elbows and knee strikes, while also landing a head kick to assure his dominance. The last minute of the fight escalated when Magomedov's knee to the body dropped Barriault to the canvas. Raining relentless ground and pound from the top, Magomedov controlled the final moments of the fight, looking for a knockout, as Barriault escaped until the buzzer. When the judges went to their scorecards, Magomedov was named the winner by unanimous decision (30-27) after three high-intensity rounds in the Octagon. Magomedov and his opponent also earned the UFC's $50,000 Fight of the Night Bonus. "Thank you to all the people who support me all over the world, I feel your support," said Monster Energy's Magomedov upon securing the victory at UFC Fight Night Abu Dhabi. "This is just the beginning, it's going to be more from now on. Bigger and higher. Better opponents, better victories!" A master of Muay Thai kickboxing, Magomedov started his mixed martial arts career fighting in Chinese promotions, including The King Fighting Championship, where he built an undefeated record of eleven wins. Magomedov made his UFC debut in October 2023 with a victory against Bruno Silva at UFC 294. Asked about his choice for next opponent, Magomedov refused to comment but allowed: "I feel very good after this fight and trained very hard. Step by step, I will fight and win. I will become the champion!" Stay tuned for more from Bullet Magomedov. UFC 318 full fight: Dustin Poirier, Max Holloway win Fight of the Night in epic rematch
The rematch between Dustin Poirier and Max Holloway was everything people expected, and more. Back in 2019, Poirier and Holloway met for a second time, this time headlining UFC 236 and competing for the UFC interim lightweight title. The two had previously met in a featherweight bout at UFC 143 in 2012, where Poirier defeated Holloway by submission, handing him a loss for his UFC debut. In the rematch, the two went toe to toe for all five rounds. Poirier ended up winning a unanimous decision and taking the interim title. The bout also won Fight of the Night awards, alongside Israel Adesanya vs. Kelvin Gastelum in the co-main event of the card. You can rewatch Poirier vs. Holloway 2 in the video above. Poirier (30-9 MMA, 22-8 UFC) and Holloway (26-8 MMA, 22-8 UFC) meet a third time this Saturday in the main event of UFC 318 (pay-per-view, ESPN, ESPN+), which takes place at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans. The bout is set to be Poirier's farewell from MMA, as he intends to retire from the sport after the fight. UFC 315 Results, Bonus Winners, Highlights And Reactions
MONTREAL, QUEBEC - MAY 10: (R-L) Jack Della Maddalena of Australia punches Belal Muhammad in the UFC ... More welterweight championship bout during the UFC 315 event at Bell Centre on May 10, 2025 in Montreal, Quebec. (Photo by Chris Unger/Zuffa LLC) Jack Della Maddalena is the new UFC middleweight champion. In an epic five-round battle, JDM dethroned Belal Muhammad via unanimous decision victory in the main event of UFC 315 at the Bell Centre in Montreal. JDM's striking, toughness and takedown defense were the difference. Here is a look at the official scorecards. Going into the fifth round, many believed JDM had the edge on the scorecards. Even the new champion's corner told him he was winning. They were wrong, and had he tried to take his foot off the games and gave up the final frame, he would have lost. Muhammad had the edge early in the fifth round securing a takedown a little short of midway through the final round. JDM could have simply tried to hold on, but he didn't. He exploded to get to his feet and dominated the striking for the entire second half of the final round. Both men had tons of physical damage on their face. It was truly a war and a fight worthy of headlining a pay-per-view event. Fittingly, it won Fight of the Night adding $50,000 to both guys paydays for the event. With JDM dethroning Muhammad, the path is clear for reigning UFC lightweight champion and pound-for-pound No. 1 fighter Islam Makhachev to move up to welterweight to challenge for the title at 170 pounds. Makhachev seemed to confirm his intentions on social media. Had Muhammad successfully defended his title, Makhachev wouldn't have wanted to move up to challenge him as they are now training partners. This result now also opens the door for Ilia Topuria to move up to lightweight and to fight Charles Oliveira for the interim title at 155 pounds. We're waiting on the official word, but it appears this is what could happen. Here are the bonus winners, results and highlights of every finish from the Bell Centre in Montreal on Saturday. Prepolec was in an uphill battle in this one. He took the fight on short notice and he was matched against a talented fighter hungry to turn things around after back-to-back losses. BSD did what was expected of him. Malott kept the momentum rolling for the Canadian fighters as he destroyed Radtke with a nasty combination that led to some destructive ground and pound punches. Jasudavicius sent the Bell Centre crowd into a frenzy with her dominant submission win over the former UFC women's strawweight champion. Andrade looked massively overmatched and Jasudavicius looks on the cusp of a title opportunity at flyweight. This finish was absolutely brutal. A series of elbows to the jaw left Silva unconscious. When you consider Silva is now on a four-fight losing streak and he missed weight, this could be his last fight in the UFC. Unfortunately, Silva was stretchered out of the Octagon following this finish. Thankfully, there was a positive update on Silva about an hour or so after the match.
