Dave Franco and Alison Brie Get Closer Than Ever in Chilling Trailer for 'Together'
Dave Franco and Alison Brie are taking relationships to extreme lengths in their shocking new horror film. On Monday, May 5, Neon debuted the trailer for Together, the latest movie the real-life couple have collaborated on together. The trailer, set to the tune of The Turtles' 1967 hit "Happy Together," finds Brie's character as she appears to meet with a therapist to express that she and Franco's character "haven't been on the same page" since a move to the countryside. While the couple are shown sharing a passionate kiss, their lips briefly get stuck together as if bound by glue. More strange and disturbing experiences suggest a supernatural force in or around their new home is binding the couple together. "Years into their relationship, Tim and Millie find themselves at a crossroads as they move to the country, abandoning all that is familiar in their lives except each other," reads a synopsis. "With tensions already flaring, a nightmarish encounter with a mysterious, unnatural force threatens to corrupt their lives, their love and their flesh." A previous teaser trailer for Together that Neon released in March showed Franco and Brie's characters living life in the solitary confinement of their new rural area, along with some increasingly disturbing imagery set to piano music. That teaser ended with the actors' characters telling each other, "I love you," as well as a shot of their eyeballs up close. Together made its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January; the movie played at the SXSW Film & TV Festival in March, where Franco, 39, told PEOPLE he and Brie, 42, "just gain more and more respect for each other" as partners in work and in life. (The couple first met in 2011 and married in 2017.) 'I am always so in awe of you when we're on set together,' Brie told her husband in that interview. 'It's very attractive!' ‘Crazy Rich Asians 2' writer Amy Wang says the sequel is a ‘slow process,' but she's ‘hopeful'
AUSTIN, Texas — Amy Wang is having a moment. Her debut feature film, Slanted, just premiered at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Film & TV Festival. She was also tapped to write Crazy Rich Asians 2, the long-awaited sequel to the 2018 box office smash. 'It's a slow process. They want to get the script right,' she told Yahoo Entertainment, referring to the studio in question, which she did not identify. Warner Bros. produced the first film and owns the rights to the second one. 'I'm hopeful that it will be made soon, but right now, it's a lot of waiting around.' A TV series adaptation based on the books by Kevin Kwan is also in the works at Max, but that's a separate project. In the meantime, Wang is in Texas promoting Slanted — a biting satire about race that's also very personal for her. See for yourself — The Yodel is the go-to source for daily news, entertainment and feel-good stories. By signing up, you agree to our Terms and Privacy Policy. Wang was on a walk with her husband one day in 2021, when she was 'jolted' by the news that six Asian American women were killed in a hate crime spree in Atlanta. It made her reflect on her experience as a Chinese Australian woman. 'When I was growing up as a teenager, for a really long time, I would wake up and think, 'Hey, wouldn't life just be better if I was white?'' she said. 'All of those emotions and repressed feelings came to the surface.' She started thinking about what a story like that would look like, and it evolved into a darkly comedic (and, she admits, controversial) script — what if two actors of two different races played the same person? That's the idea behind Slanted, a film she wrote and directed, which follows an Asian American high schooler who undergoes 'transracial' surgery to become white in her quest to be accepted by the popular girls and win prom queen. 'So many of the best films, like Get Out and Sorry to Bother You, poked fun at race and difficult topics,' she said. 'I felt like satire and a bit of body horror was the way to go. … I love pushing buttons and making people feel uncomfortable.' Wang tapped Shirley Chen and Mckenna Grace to play her lead, Joan Huang. She goes by Jo Hunt after undergoing experimental surgery to appear white. 'The character of Joan has this kernel of truth to her that I like to pretend doesn't exist. … I like to think of myself as somebody who's very outgoing and comfortable in my skin and identity,' Chen told Yahoo Entertainment. 'But I remember growing up in Washington state surrounded by a lot of white people and imagining as a 6-year-old … that I could turn blonde and have blue eyes.' She said that she outgrew that opinion once she had a better understanding of race, but she sees this role as a tribute to that version of herself. Wang and other cast and crew members confided in her about their own insecurities, which meant a lot to her, given how impressed she was by them 'Tapping into that quiet self-doubt feels really universal and vulnerable — that was really important to me,' Chen continued. Like Wang, she has a few projects in the works, but she's most excited about 'exploring my voice as a creator.' 'I'm really inspired by musicians and artists like Doechii … who pull from so many different forms and voices and styles to create something that's unique to them,' she said. '[Doechii] has worked to know herself and wants to make art to show you that you can be yourself too. I hope I can have a similar effect.' premiered on March 8 at South by Southwest.

‘The Threesome' Review: Zoey Deutch Shines In Rom-Com With Complications
The title of the new rom-com The Threesome is certainly eye-catching, but the sexual tripling it suggests is just a starting point for a plot that could probably be dragged out for a full season on The Young & the Restless. Fortunately, the soap-opera turns the story takes are in the hands of talented indie filmmakers who devise a complex tale of three young singles simply looking for love but find complications pulling them apart and keeping them together in ways they never could have imagined. More from Deadline SXSW Preview + Hot List: Blake Lively, Jenna Ortega, Michelle Obama, Matthew McConaughey & More Coming To Austin SXSW Film & TV Festival 2025 Photos: 'Another Simple Favor,' Anna Kendrick, Andrew Rannells & Paul Feig at Premiere BTS "Army" Set To Descend Upon Austin For World Premiere Of Documentary 'Forever We Are Young' - SXSW At its heart it is a simple premise. Connor (Jonah Hauer-King) has a longtime crush on lively and attractive Olivia (Zoey Deutch), who notices him engaged in conversation with a stranger named Jenny (Ruby Cruz) and decides to take matters into her own hands by ingratiating herself with the woman they both have just met, seducing not just Connor but also Jenny, first with a kiss and then an impulsive one-night stand for the three of them at Connor's apartment. Waking up the next morning, Olivia is still sleeping when Connor discovers Jenny in the kitchen and offers to make her tea as well as a shower. She slyly takes him up on both, even suggesting he might want to join her under the water. He does. Then it is goodbye. Meanwhile, that night has led to something more serious for Connor and Olivia, even to the point where she becomes pregnant and they plan a new phase of their lives happily together. That is until out of the blue Jenny reappears and announces she is pregnant and Connor is the baby daddy. Impossible, says Jenny, since he was wearing a condom the one night they were all in bed together. Uh, not so fast, as Jenny explains he wasn't wearing one the next morning in the shower, a circumstance that surprises and outrages Olivia, now realizing Connor is going to be father to both of their babies. She breaks off their relationship as both she and Jenny make the decision to have the babies or get an abortion (a hot-button issue deftly handled here), but it becomes wildly out of control as two different sets of parents also become involved in this complicated threesome about to become a fivesome. Ethan Ogilby's debut screenplay delivers all the twists of turns but keeps the focus on character as Connor is a genuinely nice guy who wants to do the right thing but finds his potent sperm has really put him in an impossible situation and affair of the heart(s). It's uh, complicated. Director Chad Hartigan (This Is Martin Bonner, Morris From America) expertly keeps this soufflé from crumbling, never letting it go over the top which it easily could have done. Fortunately this is a terrific cast that also avoids overplaying the melodramatic undertones here, keeping it believably human all the way. Deutch, also an executive producer, navigates the emotional roller coaster of a young woman whose life has suddenly turned upside down and attempts to deal with it on her own terms. Hauer-King (the dashing prince in the live-action The Little Mermaid, and also in The Tattooist of Auschwitz) is no sleazy guy who gets lucky with two women and then walks away. You do feel for this poor guy as he tries to work it out with both. Cruz is also understated and appealing as someone who didn't have impending motherhood on her bingo card but now tries to make the best of it, and that takes an unexpected direction to be sure. As the comic relief, Connor's best friend Greg (Jaboukie Young-White) pops in and out, offering unwanted advice to his buddy. The Threesome, having its world premiere today at SXSW, is looking for distribution and should find it in a market that could use a few good rom-coms right about now. This one is sweet, sexy and smart. Producers are Tim White, Trevor White, Vince Jolivette and Steven Shapiro. Blake Lively returns to big screen amid movie drama in 'Another Simple Favor' trailer
Blake Lively returns to big screen amid movie drama in 'Another Simple Favor' trailer Show Caption Hide Caption Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni's lawsuits explained Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni have each filed lawsuits in recent days. This is what each alleges. Blake Lively is returning to the big screen. Amid a legal firestorm surrounding her summer blockbuster "It Ends with Us," Lively is back alongside Anna Kendrick in a film about betrayal and bad intentions. A new teaser trailer out Wednesday offered the first look at "Another Simple Favor," a sequel to the pair's 2018 dark comedy "A Simple Favor." The movie, which will premiere opening night at the 2025 SXSW Film & TV Festival in March, sees Stephanie (Kendrick) on her way to the wedding of Emily (Lively) − years after a joint murder-suicide mission landed one in jail, and one with a publishing contract. Now, Emily is out of prison and set to wed a wealthy Italian businessman, played by Michele Morrone, and she wants Stephanie as her maid of honor. The trailer previews a reunion just as eerily charged and potentially violent as their first go-around, reviving the "what are her intentions?" question central to the success of the first movie. That the movie stars Lively as a calculated and at times outright sinister figure may add to its allure as she faces an ongoing battle in the court of law − and public opinion − with former co-star Justin Baldoni. Baldoni and Lively, who co-headlined the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover's bestselling book "It Ends with Us," have since publicly splintered, with Lively alleging Baldoni sexually harassed her and others on set, then coordinated an online smear campaign to discredit her. Baldoni, has countered that it was Lively who behaved poorly on set and used her influence alongside husband Ryan Reynolds to extort and defame him. The two are headed to trial in New York in March 2026. Whether Lively will opt to promote this new film with interviews and appearances in the meantime remains to be seen. It was the promotional tour for "It Ends with Us" that first began unspooling what Lively alleges was a calculated crusade to harm her reputation and prevent her from speaking out against Baldoni. 'Simple Favor 2' trailer 'Another Simple Favor' cast Henry Golding, Andrew Rannells, Bashir Salahuddin, Joshua Satine, Ian Ho and Kelly McCormack are all returning to the cast for "Simple Favor" round two, with new additions Morrone and Allison Janney. How to watch 'A Simple Favor' sequel The 120-minute film will be available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video May 1, where producers no doubt hope it will follow in the successful footprints of the first movie, which was ranked among Netflix' most-watched films as the sequel began production, Variety reports.
