Flau'jae Johnson Reveals Why She and Angel Reese Aren't Friends Anymore

Flau'jae Johnson Reveals Why She and Angel Reese Aren't Friends Anymore originally appeared on Athlon Sports. For two seasons, Angel Reese and Flau'jae Johnson were close friends and teammates. The Chicago Sky forward and current LSU star guard helped lead the Tigers to their first-ever national championship back in 2023, but in the two years since, they've seemingly drifted apart. Advertisement 'I still support Flau'jae; we aren't as close as we used to be,' Reese said on her 'Unapologetically Angel' podcast last year. 'There's no hard feelings or anything. It happens. 'You don't have the best relationships with everybody, and don't always continue relationships with people. So I wish her the best always, I'm always going to support her. There's no love lost but we aren't as close as we used to be.' Though they no longer speak, Reese made it known there's no bad blood between the two. However, Johnson seemingly painted a different picture. LSU Lady Tigers guard Flau'jae Johnson, left, celebrates with former teammate Angel Reese after defeating the Virginia Tech Hokies in the 2023 women's Final Lee-Imagn Images During a recent appearance on 'The Breakfast Club' podcast, Johnson made it seem like the two actually had a falling out during Reese's final season at LSU. Advertisement 'We're not friends, but I mean that bond that we had, that thing that we did together, winning a national championship, you can never take that away from us,' Johnson stated. 'And so sometimes stuff happens, you wish it don't happen but it do. And you just got to grow. '… Yeah, it was a lot of media, it was a lot of locker room stuff. You know what I'm saying? Stuff that go on behind the scenes. But it happens, it happens… Sometimes stuff happens. You wish it don't happen, but it do.' While it's not known exactly what went down between the two, their mothers did feud publicly back in 2023 over social media. Reese's mother seemingly fired the first shot, taking a jab at Johnson's mother, who responded by insulting Reese and mocking her alleged 2.0 GPA at the time — something she carried with her and jabbed at after graduating last year. Paige Bueckers Gets Brutally Honest About Living in Caitlin Clark's Shadow

Long before the Dallas Wings took former UConn star Paige Bueckers with the No. 1 overall pick in last month's WNBA draft, the 23-year-old guard was being compared to last year's No. 1 overall pick, Indiana Fever phenom Caitlin Clark. Bueckers and Clark were the No. 1 and No. 4 overall recruits, respectively, in the 2020 recruiting class, and they had shared the college spotlight for three seasons before Clark left for the pros. Advertisement And while few would blame Bueckers for feeling one-upped by Clark for most of her time at UConn, the Wings' rookie recently admitted in an interview with TIME that she no longer feels like she's living in Clark's shadow as she transitions to the WNBA. Iowa Hawkeyes guard Caitlin Clark (22) controls the ball against Connecticut Huskies guard Paige Bueckers (5) during the 2024 women's Final Lee-Imagn Images 'That's what the media cares about,' Bueckers said. 'That's what everybody who watches basketball cares about. I used to be bothered by it. But I've done so much work on myself and my approach. "The ability to not run a race in comparison, to run my own race and worry about that. Caitlin's a phenomenal player. We're also completely different players.' Advertisement While Bueckers may no longer feel the pressure of trying to match Clark stride-for-stride, that doesn't mean fans and analysts will stop comparing the two. Paige Bueckers poses with WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert after being selected with the number one overall pick to the Dallas Wings in the 2025 WNBA Draft at The Shed at Hudson Carchietta-Imagn Images Clark broke WNBA, rookie and Fever franchise records, as well as ratings, attendance and merchandise sales records during her debut season en route to a near-unanimous Rookie of the Year win. Whether she wants to admit it or not, some will be expect Bueckers to make a similar impact with the Wings, and others will likely judge her production and success against Clark's rookie season — though that seems like a challenge Bueckers is ready to embrace. Advertisement 'Pitting the two most recent No. 1 draft picks against each other is good for the game,' Bueckers added. 'At the end of the day, I don't think either of us really cares about it, because we're just trying to be the best versions of ourselves.' Dallas Wings Make Caitlin Clark-Paige Bueckers Announcement

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark is arguably the biggest draw in the WNBA. So it wasn't a surprise when many of the Fever's opponents moved their games against them this season to bigger venues to accommodate the increased demand for tickets. Advertisement The Dallas Wings are one of those teams looking to capitalize on Clark's celebrity status—and possibly that of their own new star, Paige Bueckers, who the team picked No. 1 overall in the 2025 WNBA draft on Monday night—which is why the team's June 27 matchup against Indiana was moved from College Park Center, which seats 7,000 fans, to American Airlines Center, which seats 20,000. That game, which pits the No. 1 overall pick in 2024 against the No. 1 overall pick in 2025, could be one of the WNBA's biggest ratings draws of the 2025 season, which is exactly why the Wings are already heavily promoting that matchup. 'Talk of the league. Talk of the city. Grab your A Night in Dallas tickets now when we face @IndianaFever at @AACenter on Friday, June 27,' the Wings announced on X Tuesday afternoon. Former UConn and current Dallas Wings point guard Paige Bueckers, left, and former Iowa and current Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark in the 2024 women's Final Lee-Imagn Images Though the Aug. 1 Wings-Fever matchup is still set to be played at College Park Center for now, Clark recently petitioned the Wings during an appearance on 'The Bird & Taurasi Show' during UConn's national championship win over South Carolina to move that matchup to the American Airline Center as well. Advertisement Clark believes Bueckers has the kind of drawing power she does, and she stated the Wings should capitalize on her rising star by playing more games in bigger venues. '[College Park Center] is fun to play in too,' Clark said. 'It's a small place, it's loud. They should move every game to American Airlines because I think Paige has that type of draw, she'll be able to bring those fans in. I know we're playing there, one of our games, hopefully the other one gets moved too. We would appreciate that, Dallas Wings, if you could move the other one.'
