Who does Belly pick? How 'The Summer I Turned Pretty' books end
Since the July 16 premiere of "The Summer I Turned Pretty," a coming-of-age romantic TV series based on the beloved book trilogy of the same name, viewers are dying to know which Fisher is endgame. Will Belly (Lola Tung) stick with best friend and now fiance Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno), or risk everything, including her heart, for first love Conrad (Christopher Briney)? The answer, unknown to those who haven't read the books, was revealed at the end of "We'll Always Have Summer," the last book set in "The Summer I Turned Pretty" universe. "I think I always knew I would be Belly Fisher one day," bestselling author Jenny Han writes in "We'll Always Have Summer." "I just didn't know it was going to happen like this." And she does make a choice, one that changes her present and her future forever. If you want to know which Fisher Belly chooses, read on. Here's how it ends. What is 'The Summer I Turned Pretty' about? "The Summer I Turned Pretty," at its core, is a story about "first love, first heartbreak, and the magic of that one perfect summer." The show, in its third and final season, made its debut on Amazon Prime Video on July 16. The story itself, which takes place over many a summer, hinges on a love triangle between Belly Conklin and brothers Conrad Fisher and Jeremiah Fisher as they navigate life, growing pains and one immeasurable loss. The trio also happens to be childhood friends, the kind who have spent summer breaks together at the same place for as long as they can remember. Now, they're all grown up. Belly, who is currently a junior at Finch College, is feeling good about her future. She has found a friend in Anika, is still close with Taylor and has Jere by her side, just like she wanted. But when "core-shaking events" bring first love Conrad back into her life, she finds herself at a crossroads. "(Belly) must decide which brother has her heart," the show's official logline reads. "Summer will never be the same..." More: Meet the cast of "The Summer I Turned Pretty" Who does Belly end up with? Belly doesn't choose Jeremiah or Conrad because in the end, she chooses herself. Jeremiah and Belly do not stay together, or (ever) end up having a beach wedding in Cousins. Jere goes back to live at the fraternity house, and Belly lives with Anika in her sophomore year at Finch University. (FYI: Belly is a little older in the show than she is in "We'll Always Have Summer.") Belly spends her junior year studying abroad in Spain, where she has "lots and lots of adventures." Spain is also the place she hears from Conrad for the first time, following his spontaneous declaration and tearful goodbye in Cousins. "Spain is where I got my first letter from him," Han writes. "Real letters, written by his hand, not e-mails. I didn't write him back, not at first, but they still came, once a month, every month. The first time I saw him again, it was another year, at my college graduation. And I just knew." And Belly does, just like Susannah hopes, end up with a young man, whose last name is Fisher. "This is our start," Han writes. "This is the moment it becomes real. We are married. We are infinite. Me and Conrad. The first boy I ever slow danced with, ever cried over. Ever loved." 'Irresistible' Amazon Prime drama shares stark warning as season 3 launches
The Summer I Turned Pretty returns to streaming screens for its third and final season today. However, ahead of the new episodes dropping, the team over at Amazon Prime Video issued a stark warning to fans of the coming-of-age drama in a social media post. The summer romance with a glossy Gen Z love triangle to keep fans hooked first aired in 2022 and went on to become one of the streamer's most-viewed TV shows. The official X account for the show has now shared a 'public service announcement' with its community of fans, cautioning viewers against bullying and hate speech towards those involved in the third season. 'Cousins is our safe place,' the post read. 'Everything good, everything magical. Let's keep the conversation kind this summer.' The post then added: 'We have a ZERO tolerance policy for bullying and hate speech. If you engage in any of the following you will be banned.' To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video The examples then listed as 'community guidelines' were: no 'hate speech or bullying', 'targeting our cast or crew' and 'harassing or doxxing members of the community'. Based on the best-selling book trilogy from Jenny Han, the third season is set four years on from the events of the second. Belly (Lola Tung) has to-ed and fro-ed between the equally handsome Fisher brothers Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) for several episodes now, and is presumably set to make a concrete decision at the end of this 11 episode run. She's finished her junior year of college at Finch University and is now set to marry Jeremiah (Conrad fans look away now, there's lots of loved up 'Jelly' scenes coming). But just in the nick of time it looks like Conrad might actually have grown up to be worthy of Belly's affections. He's a doctor with a new sense of purpose and perspective – but is it enough to make Belly once again detonate her perfectly happy love life? We'll have to tune in to find out. It might not come as a total surprise that the production issued the warning to fans, given that viewers have had fierce 'ships' of who should end up with who from the off. It's Team Conrad vs Team Jeremiah. The first season holds an 86% rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, with YouTuber Perri Nemiroff dubbing it 'an irresistible summer escape'. Additionally, fans have shared their own thoughts on the show so far, with Ranyoun Rania writing in her Google review: 'I adore this series so much. More Trending 'I only saw it on Prime Video today and watched all 7 episodes in that entire night and went to bed at 6 am but it was totally worth it.' Arnold Bisoborwa added: 'The Summer I Turned Pretty is a heartwarming and nostalgic coming-of-age series that perfectly captures the magic of first love, family bonds, and the bittersweetness of growing up.' Sarah Smith also said they were kept up late watching the show, writing: 'This is the best show I have watched in a long time. I literally stayed up all night to finish.'
