Apoorva Mukhija aka Rebel Kid says she lost her home, show, and brand deals amid India's Got Latent row; launches new series
Just weeks after dropping a 35-minute video apologizing for her comments on the now-infamous India's Got Latent episode, digital creator Apoorva Mukhija — better known as The Rebel Kid — has returned with another emotional update. In a new Instagram reel, she reflects on the backlash that followed, the accusations of 'playing the victim card,' and how she's trying to rebuild after what she calls a deeply 'dehumanising' experience. The reel features Apoorva narrating parts of her journey, accompanied by a voiceover that outlines the choices she felt she had after the controversy exploded. 'One was to stand up and expose everyone who was wrong,' she says, but admits that would have been futile. Another was to give up completely, be depressed and cry all day. And… she chose that one. What followed, she explains, was a personal and professional unravelling. She lost her home, her show, brand partnerships, and faced a tidal wave of public scrutiny. 'I thought things couldn't get any worse… but they did,' the voiceover says. Yet amid the chaos, Apoorva found one thing she held on to — hope. View this post on Instagram Shared post on Time The reel marks the launch of a new video series titled Finding Happiness Again, which will chronicle her journey toward self-discovery, resilience, and healing. Each episode will document personal milestones and life lessons. 'So while everything was falling apart, I went on a quest to find myself,' she says, urging viewers to 'follow along.' For those unfamiliar, Apoorva was one of the judges on comedian Samay Raina's now-deleted show India's Got Latent, which faced heavy backlash for a segment that was widely criticized for a comment by YouTuber Ranveer Allahabadia. Following public outrage, the show was taken down from YouTube, FIRs were filed, and investigations launched. The fallout reportedly forced Apoorva to vacate her home and face a barrage of online and offline consequences.
