Finn Balor Is Looking To Snap A Stunning WWE Streak

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A surprising statistic regarding decorated WWE Raw superstar Finn Balor has come out. Wrestle Ops pointed out that today, June 3, 2025, "marks 1 full year since Finn Balor last won a singles match" on television. The prominent Judgment Day member has gotten only three wins in singles action within the past 2 years. This comes despite his consistent presence in high-profile storylines and tag team championship success. Balor's most recent attempt to secure a significant singles opportunity came just last night on the June 2nd episode of Raw. He competed in a challenging Triple Threat Money in the Bank qualifying match against CM Punk and "El Grande Americano" Chad Gable. CM Punk ultimately won the bout. Throughout 2025, Balor has remained a cornerstone of the heel faction, The Judgment Day, on Monday Night RAW. While his individual singles victories have been scarce, he has reached considerable success in the tag team ranks. He notably held the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships multiple times with fellow Judgment Day member Damian Priest. The group, also featuring Dominik Mysterio, JD McDonagh, Liv Morgan, Carlito (before his recent departure), and new recruit Roxanne Perez, continues to be a dominant force on the red brand. PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA - APRIL 08: JD McDonagh, Finn Balor, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest, WWE Women's World Champion Rhea Ripley, Dominik Mysterio standing in ring at the Wells Fargo Center on April 8, 2024... PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA - APRIL 08: JD McDonagh, Finn Balor, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest, WWE Women's World Champion Rhea Ripley, Dominik Mysterio standing in ring at the Wells Fargo Center on April 8, 2024 in Philadelphia, news: WWE News: Steve Austin Reveals Real-Life Vince McMahon Confrontation Balor's WWE career boasts an impressive list of accolades. He made a massive impact in NXT, where he was a two-time NXT Champion, holding the record for the longest combined reign. Upon his main roster debut in 2016, he made history by becoming the first-ever WWE Universal Champion. His resume also includes two reigns as Intercontinental Champion and one as United States Champion, showcasing his versatility and main event caliber. Known for his captivating "Demon" persona, which appears for his biggest matches, Balor has consistently been a top-level performer until the last three years, during which he has lost the majority of his matches. This current drought in televised singles victories is therefore a notable statistic for a superstar of his stature, even as he thrives within The Judgment Day. It will be interesting to see if WWE turns around its winning ways in the near future or if it continues to head down this direction. More WWE News: For more on WWE, head to Newsweek Sports.

Carlito reveals WWE departure after R-Truth stunner

WWE is letting another longtime performer walk away from the company. The wrestling world was shaken up Sunday when news broke that R-Truth was not getting his contract renewed by WWE, and the 17-year veteran wrestler isn't alone now as Carlito is the latest victim of WWE's roster trimming. 'My contract is up in 2 weeks. It will not be renewed,' Carlito posted to X Sunday evening. 3 Carlito announced WWE will not be renewing his contract and he's leaving the company in two weeks. WWE via Getty Images Carlito made his WWE debut in 2004 when he defeated John Cena for the United States championship. He then stuck around in WWE until 2010 before mainly returning to WWC, where he began his career in 1999, and made inconsistent WWE appearances throughout the years. 3 Carlito (l.) with fellow Judgment Day members Finn Balor (bottom center) and Dominik Mysterio (top center). WWE via Getty Images In 2023, he re-signed with WWE full-time, where he was primarily comedic relief for 'The Judgment Day' group and had only made one televised match in 2025, when he participated in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. Carlito poked some fun at himself for his limited WWE action over the past few years. 'On top of that, WWE is demanding I pay back the $ they paid me for apparently 'stealing money' from the company,' he joked. 'I've had my lawyers look into it and after reviewing my footage on Netflix for the past months they suggested I pay them back the money. 'All jokes aside, gracias WWE & especially the WWE universe,' Carlito added. '[I love you very much!]' In addition to the United States championship he won in 2004, Carlito won the Intercontinental championship, the WWE Tag Team championships and the World Tag Team championships across his career. Outside of WWE, Carlito just won the Puerto Rican championship in WWC over the weekend when he defeated Ray González during the WWC Summer Madness event. The 46-year-old Puerto Rican star will now continue his career in WWC moving forward. 3 Judgement Day members Carlito (r.), Finn Balor (second from r.), JD McDonagh (second from l.) and Dominik Mysterio (l.) 'PS…I'll reappear again in another 13yrs,' Carlito concluded his X post. '[God bless you!]'

Seth Rollins vs. Finn Balor and Sami Zayn in a Money in the Bank qualifying match. WWE Raw advertised two Triple Threat Money in the Bank qualifying matches as Seth Rollins battled Sami Zayn and Finn Balor while Penta faced off against Chad Gable and Dragon Lee. Raw also advertised the underdog Tozawa walking into certain demise against Rusev. Paul Heyman gave two strong, obnoxious endorsements of Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed, both of whom were dressed like musclebound limo drivers. Heyman spoiled the eight WrestleManias by saying Breakker would headline all of them. Fans barked in approval. Heyman said WWE and its top stars were afraid of Bronson Reed, and Reed did more damage to Seth Rollins in one night than Roman Reigns and CM Punk combined. Before handing the mic over to Rollins, Heyman told Tampa to 'acknowledge' Seth Rollins. This line received a ton of heat and chants of 'We want Roman!' Fans chanted 'F U Rollins' and 'You sold out!' to Seth, who seemed legitimately confused by the 'You sold out' line. Rollins reminded the Yuengling Center that he told fans about his plan and followed through. Rollins used buzz words such as 'power' and 'domination,' but this group still doesn't have a name. Rollins vowed to win the men's Money in the Bank qualifying match as well as the briefcase itself. These three immediately worked well together, with one wrestler after another showcasing their impressive moves. Michael Cole questioned why Chad Gable doesn't wrestle as El Grande Americano all the time. Penta accidentally dropped Chad Gable right on his face in a scary landing. The referee immediately checked on Gable, who seemed fine as he caught a diving Penta. Gable faced off with El Vikingo, his opponent at Worlds Collide who was in the front row. As Gable and Penta brawled, Lee came flying onto Penta through the table as Gable moved out of the way. Gable attacked Vikingo and then turned his attention to Penta. Gable showed an incredible feat of strength with a delayed German suplex on Penta and Lee. El Vikingo got his receipt with a boot to the nose of Gable on the top rope. Penta capitalized with a Penta Driver for the win. Gable was busted open. Rusev demolished Tozawa after a brief flurry of offense from Akira. Rusev trapped Tozawa in The Accolade for the win, but refused to let go. Sheamus came to Tozawa's aid as the two former League of Nations members faced off. Rusev walked off to a chorus of boos. Backstage, Tom Segura—who has been critical of pro wrestling—and Bert Kreischer did a brief interview with Cathy Kelly. The duo then had an exchange with the War Raiders, one of whom chopped Bert. The New Day dressed in Giant Gonzalez-inspired gear. The New Day formed an early alliance with The Creed Brothers, even raising their hands before going to break. Ivar hit a Frog Splash, and it took three men to break it up. Brutus answered with a springboard cannonball to the outside. The New Day continued to work with The Creeds with no issues, but an opportunistic Xavier Woods rolled up Julius Creed for the win. Gunther told Jey Uso he was surprised that his title reign lasted this long (one title defense.) Gunther said he could tell Jey Uso was not ready to carry the weight of a world championship. Jey Uso said he knows Gunther inside and out, and he would retain the WWE World Heavyweight Championship for the people by making Gunther tap out again. Liv Morgan returned in a backstage segment where Dominik Mysterio was getting ready to eat Roxane Perez's chicken nuggets. An overconfident Perez told Iyo Sky that she was going to win the women's Money in the Bank briefcase and cash in on Iyo. Kairi Sane took exception to Liv saying Kairi was never going to win a Money in the Bank briefcase. Roxanne Perez helped Liv Morgan by shoving Kairi Sane off the top rope. An argument between Roxanne and Raquel temporarily distracted Liv, who went for the Oblivion on Kairi, only to be rolled up for the loss. Despite being outnumbered by heels, Kairi stayed in the ring after a rollup win, as opposed to running away. Liv Morgan literally had to kick her out of the damn ring. After the match, Liv Morgan blamed Raquel for the loss backstage. Finn Balor and Roxanne Perez were very happy with the dissension. Lyra Valkyria accused Becky Lynch of making their feud personal after attacking Lyra following their Backlash match. Becky Lynch told Lyra that she made it personal. Lynch said she went home to her hot husband, and Lyra went home to her 'weird little fiancee.' Lynch said if she doesn't win at Money in the Bank, she would never challenge for the Women's IC Title again. Backstage, Karrion Kross (who received a huge pop) told Sami Zayn he was not going to ever win a world title. Finn Balor hit a one-man stereo DDT/reverse DDT on Rollins and Zayn. Zayn answered with a springboard backflip to the outside on both. Seth Rollins convinced Finn Balor to work with him against Sami Zayn. Balor obliged until Rollins broke up a pinfall over Sami. After three nights and three events in the Yuengling Center, the Tampa crowd finally started to show signs of fatigue at some points in this main event. There was an awesome sequence where Finn Balor missed the Coup de Grace, followed by a stomp on Balor by Rollins and a Helluva Kick on Rollins by Zayn. Breakker stopped the three count, and Jey Uso made the save. Breakker Speared Jey for his troubles. Dominik Slid a steel chair into the ring, trying to help Finn (I think), but Rollins stomped Balor's head onto the chair for the win. CM Punk hit the ring from the crowd at the end of the show and stuck Rollins with the GTS.

(Image via WWE) WWE star Finn Balor , along with JD McDonagh , was seen locking horns with AJ Styles and Penta in a tag team match in the recent May 19 episode of WWE RAW held at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina. The segment was one of the captivating and interesting segments when the members of the Judgment Day faction intervened to help Balor and McDonagh in the tag team match. During the match, things seemed to be moving in Penta and AJ Styles' favor, until El Grande Americano appeared in the crowd and took down Penta with a headshot. Later, Balor delivered the Coupe De Grace move on him to pick up the win for his team. In the tag team match, Finn Balor and JD McDonagh secured a significant win against AJ Styles and Penta, thanks to the timely interference from Carlito and El Grande Americano, following which it is believed that Balor is planning to launch his new tag team with a cool name. This is not the first time that McDonagh has tried naming their partnership.
